Gregory Mark Lehman, 27, of Burlington, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born May 25, 1995, in Sterling, Ill., he was the son of Mark and Ann (Newman) Lehman.
He was a 2013 graduate of Burlington Community High School and then attended the University of Iowa.
Gregory worked for Conagra in Fort Madison for the last two years.
Gregory loved music and playing his guitar. He could play any string instrument and won the Woody Herman Jazz Award in high school, playing the jazz guitar. He loved absurdist comedy sketches and was always laughing. Gregory enjoyed the outdoors and going on hikes, especially the Smoky Mountains. He had a brilliant mind that could sometimes resemble an encyclopedia.
Survivors include his mother, Ann (Jeffrey) Brotherson of Burlington; father, Mark (Elaine) Lehman of Clear Lake; brother, Jeffrey Lehman of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Olivia Lehman of Omaha, Neb.; maternal grandparents, Ray and Ruth Ann Newman of Orion, Ill.; five step-siblings; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and a brother in infancy, Matthew Lehman.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St.
The memorial service for Gregory will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23 at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ryan Cosgrove officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at The Drake following the service from noon to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Burlington Community School District Jazz Band.
