Richard F. Burhop, 81, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at his residence.
Born Aug. 2, 1940, in Iowa City, he was the son of George and Esta Pratt Burhop. He married Sally A. Rickey on June 24, 1960, at the First Baptist Church in Muscatine.
Richard worked for Hon Industries. He was later the owner and operator of Dicks Kerr-McGee gas station in Muscatine for 16 years.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Richard was a member of the Eagles in Muscatine and Burlington. He enjoyed playing golf and was a long-time fan of the Chicago Bears.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Adam Burhop of Kirksville, Mo., Andy (Diana) Burhop of Burlington, and Amy (Robert) Adams of Aledo, Ill.; one sister, Dorothy Burhop Houseal of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenny Burhop.
The graveside funeral service for Mr. Burhop was Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, at High Prairie Methodist Church Cemetery in rural Muscatine, with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating.
