Michael "Mike" F. Fullenkamp Sr., 76, of Burlington, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Ill.
Born February 16, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of Francis D. and Lola D. Stewart Fullenkamp. On Sept. 10, 1969, he married Paula Annette Tomey in Biggsville, Ill. They later divorced.
Michael retired from the United States Navy in 1991. He then worked as a carpenter for Carl A. Nelson.
He was a U.S. Marines veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from April 4, 1967, until Feb. 4, 1971. He then enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served for 16 additional years.
Mike was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, fishing, and going to auctions and flea markets. He loved watching sports, especially drag racing, and watching westerns.
Survivors include his daughter, Annette Doiron of Montgomery, Ala.; granddaughter, Kayla (Johnathan) Doiron-Payne of Maplesville, Ala.; grandson, Zachary (Alyssa) Doiron of Phenix City, Ala.; 5 great-grandchildren, Glenn Payne, Kaylee Payne, Landon Hull, Bray Shores, and Raena Doiron; two sisters, Joan Wunnenberg of California, and Geraldine Webb of Ft. Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Fullenkamp Jr.; brother, James Fullenkamp; and sister, Janice Hagerla.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Fullenkamp will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, with the Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery following the service. Full military honors will be rendered by the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League, Detachment 616.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Soldiers' Angels.
