
Richard Earl "Dick" Adair, 82, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, in West Des Moines.
Born September 4, 1943, in Burlington, he was the son of Earl Laverne and Virginia Doris Anderson Adair. On August 6, 1994, he married Olivia Tseng in Seattle, Wash.
He was a graduate of Burlington High School and the University of Northern Iowa.
Dick enjoyed a long career in Sales and Marketing. He demonstrated kindness, embraced challenges, and helped others without expecting anything in return.
Dick loved hunting, fishing, and cheering on the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. He and Olivia rarely missed a home football game and traveled to many bowl games together.
He treasured his longtime friendships with Bo Kratz of Corpus Christi, Texs, and Bob Schwarm of Bettendorf; together, they shared many memories of growing up in Burlington. Dick also had a close relationship with Jamie and Lindsay Grosse, who were like family to him in Des Moines, and he adored their four daughters, Natalie, Clara, and twins Mary and Laura. Dick loved spoiling them and spending time with them.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Olivia Adair; his son, David Richard Adair of Springfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Abby, Allie, and Nick; sister-in-law, Judy Adair; and his brothers-in-law, Jarvis Tseng and Ezra Tseng.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary Adair and daughter-in-law, Shawna Adair.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 15, 2025 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The memorial service for Mr. Adair will be 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. A private family burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
