
Ruby Eileen Chaillie, 73, of Burlington, died Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born November 19, 1952, in Los Angeles, California, she was the daughter of Harvey V. and Alice Keyian Peters. She married Paul E. Chaillie on October 23, 1974, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ruby was a law and business executive assistant and more recently worked as an Administrative Assistant in the food service department for the Burlington School District until her retirement in 2015.
She was of the Christian faith.
Ruby LOVED JESUS! She taught children’s classes at various churches along with donating her time and talents. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, playing the piano, traveling and taking cruises.
She is survived by her husband Paul E. Chaillie of Burlington, two daughters, Nicole Chaillie and Mary Campbell both of Burlington; three grandchildren, Matthew Whaley of Burlington, Rebecca Whaley of Clinton, Iowa and Julie Campbell of Burlington; brother John (Buggs) Peters of Morse Bluff, Nebraska; two sisters, Becky (Hawley) Skilton of Hayden, Idaho and Linda Ballard (Cliff Pranschke) of San Jose, California; brother-in-law Errol (Paula) Chaillie of Godley, Texas and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Alice Peters.
A private graveside committal will be held in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Burlington Foursquare Gospel Church.
