Shirley Kay Brookhart, age 70, of Kahoka, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, at her home in Kahoka, Mo.  She was born in Burlington, on March 22, 1953, the daughter of Arthur Marion and Marian Lucille Brockway Andries.

She was married to Dennis Brookhart on February 28, 2015, in Newark, Mo.   

Surviving are her husband Dennis Brookhart of Kahoka, Mo.; her mother, Marian L. Andries of Mediapolis; one daughter, Tina Marie Holloway of Keosauqua; one son, Eric Shawn (Maureen) Higdon of Mediapolis; four step-children, Teresa (Chuck) Gartner of the State of Washington, B.J. (Shannon) Brookhart of the State of Washington, Libby (Scott) Goben of Kahoka, Mo., and Wayne Brookhart of Burlington; three brothers, Larry Dwight Andries of Baring, Mo., John Mark (Melissa) Andries of Burlington, and Gary Roy (Lori) Andries of Mediapolis; two sisters, Nancy Lee Runnells of Mediapolis, and Susan LoRayne (David) Eisenmann of Burlington; two grandchildren, Bethany McCoy and (Brandon Bishop) of Mount Pleasant and Dylan (Theresa) McCoy of Burlington; two great-grandchildren, Grayson Blake Meyer, and Kade Vincent Eugene Bishop;  several step grandkids and step great grandkids and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.   

Shirley attended Mediapolis High School and then attended Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, IA.  Shirley operated a daycare in her home for 28 years retiring in 2014.  She loved playing cards, baking and cooking, decorating cakes and catering, listening and singing country music, and dancing.   She loved spending time with her family.  Shirley had always stated that when she was gone that no tears were to be shed and she wanted a party to go out with a bang.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Mo..  A Celebration of Life for Shirley will be held 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Harvest View Farms, 12239 180th St, Sperry.
