Des Moines County Sheriff's deputies arrested two suspects on drug charges after conducting a traffic stop.

At about 8:26 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, a sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle at Division St. and Flint Hills Dr. for an equipment violation. 

The driver was Phillip Daniel Pugliese, 36, of Wayland. The passenger was Pepsi Dawn Smith, 33, of Burlington.

Deputies found about 33 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging material, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. 

Pugliese and Smith were arrested for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
