Alice E. Snyder, 96, of Stronghurst, Ill., formerly of Burlington, died April 6, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.

Born Aug. 17, 1926, in Ft. Madison, she was the daughter of Edward and Adelaide Bendlage Mansheim. On Sept. 20, 1947, Alice married Paul Edward Snyder in Ft. Madison. He died Feb. 1, 1991. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Raritan, Ill.

Alice was the head cook and worked in food service for the Burlington Community School District for 19 years until her retirement in 1981. She volunteered at Burlington Public Schools for 10 years. She spent endless hours volunteering for RSVP for which she was honored by Governor Terry Brandstad. Alice enjoyed all kinds of sewing, making baby quilts, gardening, and tending flowers. She embroidered and volunteered for various church activities.

Survivors include one son Daniel (Janet) Snyder of Burlington; one daughter Kathleen (Jerry) Keimig of Stronghurst, Ill.; four grandchildren Troy (Mary) Snyder, Denise (Ryan) Machholz, Jon (Tiffany) Keimig, Kari (Brian) Higgins; eight great-grandchildren Jessica, Abigail, Mallorie, Marissa, Topher, Henry, Breckin, Harrison; one sister Evelyn Westfall of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.

The funeral mass for Mrs. Snyder will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 14 at St Patrick Catholic Church in Raritan with Msgr. Thomas Mack and Fr. Timothy Hepner as co-celebrants. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for St. Patrick Catholic Church, Divine Mercy Parish, and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
