Mary A. Mack, 98, of Burlington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at Azria Health Prairie Ridge, in Mediapolis.

Born on April 18, 1926, in Creston, she was the daughter of John and Alice Shay. On Jan. 19, 1947, in Burlington she married Paul W. Mack. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2004.

Mary was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked as an office manager for Dr. Zeran’s office and retired in 1988. At the age of 16, Mary was playing the piano for her church and local radio station and later recorded two albums. In her free time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, embroidery, and playing card games. What she loved most was reading and going shopping with her daughter and granddaughters on the weekends. Most of all time spent with her family brought her the most joy and happiness.

Mary is survived by her daughter Paula (Stephen) Stoller of Oakville, and son Douglas Mack; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Mary Mack. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, two sons: Dennis and Tim Mack, one daughter in-law Theresa Mack and great grandson Evan Mack.

The funeral service for Mary will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Ryan Cosgrove officiating. A one-hour visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends. Interment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her memory for Unity Lutheran Church.

Donna Aolani Brockett, 71, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at her home.

Born Oct. 28, 1953, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was the daughter of George Harris and Eunice Keala Ah Puck Johnson. On Jan. 26, 1974, she married Rickie William Brockett in Burlington.&nbsp;

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1970.&nbsp;

Donna worked for the Basket Factory and the Potato Chip Factory. Her real passion was taking care of people; Donna had a home daycare, was an in home caregiver and helped as a caregiver for many years at Hope Haven.&nbsp;

She was of the Methodist faith. Donna loved to bowl and she was a member of the Bowling Association, Jr. Bowling League. She was even inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame and was the bowler of the year. She also like making crafts and cakes. But most of all, Donna loved spending time with her family.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband, Rickie; two children, Sean (Kendra) Brockett of Valrico, FL and Keala (Brian) Reich of West Burlington; six grandchildren, Ashton (Alejandra), Carson, Holton, Logan (Bekah), Hunter, Leilana; one great-grandchild, Elysia, and one on the way in January. She is also survived by her siblings, Phil (Kathy) Clevenger of Galesburg, IL and Geri Elmore of Burlington, and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ronnie, Jerry and D.J. Johnson, one sister Wanda Lou Johnson and one brother-in-law, Tom Elmore.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established for her grandchildren.

Steven Leroy McGinity, 67, of Burlington, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at the Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant. Born Feb. 2, 1957, in Burlington, he was the son of Melburn "Mel" F. (Marilyn) McGinity and Darlene May (William "Bill") Saldeen Russell. &nbsp;

Steve worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a machinist and later became a mechanic.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and even mushroom hunting. He had a soft spot for his black labs and loved driving motorcycles and cars.

Survivors include his four children, Lindy (Aaron) Williams of Danville, Chad (Karen) McGinity of Burlington, Destiny (Josh) Reid of West Burlington, and Chris (Charlene) McGinity of Severn, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Dan (Lisa) McGinity of Burlington and nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Melburn, Jr. and Gary McGinity and infant sister, Gloria.

There will be no visitation or services at this time.

Annabel "Ann" Carder, 89, of Burlington, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at her home.

Born June 22, 1935, in Stillwell, Ill., she was the daughter of Jake and Aileen Crear Tanner. Ann married Ernest "Ernie" Conn and had three children before their divorce. On July 2, 1976 she married Jack Alter in Oquawka, Ill. He passed on June 10, 1982. On July 16, 1984, she married Billy Joe Carder in Burlington. They later divorced. &nbsp;

She graduated from Bowen Community High School in Bowen, Ill. as class secretary and valedictorian in 1953.

Ann worked &nbsp;for 26 years as a Dictating Machine Transcriber for the Department of Human Services in the State of Iowa, retiring in 1996.

Ann loved to bake and cook, and would prepare large holiday feast. She could always be found shopping, reading or working on her crocheting, and loved to gift afghans. She loved to spend time with family, either on their outings at the river, fish fry and other gatherings. Ann was of Christian faith. &nbsp;

Survivors include three children, Rick Conn of Burlington, Randy Conn of Jacksonville, Fla. and Kathy Martin of Burlington; &nbsp;four grandchildren, Brandy Conn, Brenda Conn, Dustin Alter and Kim Pauly; seven great-grandchildren, Brylea, Preston, Braelynn, Kinsley, Lia, Lincoln, and June; four step sons; two step daughters; two brothers, Joe Tanner of La Grange, Mo. and Larry Tanner of Warsaw, Ill.; one sister, Judie Flesner of Camp Point, Ill. and several nieces and nephews..

She was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband, Jack Alter, her third husband, Bill Carder, one brother Dave Tanner, one step son Mike Carder, great grandson, Brodi Sattler &nbsp;and nephew Monte Tanner.

She was born in Illinois on April 25, 1949, the daughter of Thomas and Donna Adams Wear.

Lois Schrock Wiegand passed away on Dec. 13, 2024, at the Klein Center. She was born on March 9, 1926, to Noah and Hattie Lanz Schrock at their home near Oakville, Iowa. She graduated from Huron High School.

At the age of 14, she was baptized (along with Joe Wiegand, her future husband) and was a member for 84 years of the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church and later the Burlington Apostolic Church. She married Joseph Wiegand on April 20, 1947. He passed away on November 20, 2011. They were blessed with three Children: Mary Jo and her husband Galen Metzger of Burlington, Jane and her husband Ron Schmidgall of Burlington, and Brian and his wife Cindy of Oakville.

Lois graduated from Southeastern Community College as an LPN, then went on to earn her RN. She was employed by Burlington Medical Center for 25 years. After retiring, she volunteered many years for Great River Hospice.

Other survivors besides her children are 4 sisters: Ada Banwart of Mediapolis, Dorothy Schrock, and Janet Beik of Burlington and Eleanor Knobloch of Morton, Illinois. 11 grandchildren: Janelle Ringger, Gayla Stoecker, Tricia Zaugg, Aaron, Brad and Curt Schmidgall, Natalie Kuntz, Ashley Stoltzfus, Natasha Rivero. Colt Wiegand, and Calista Wiegand. 32 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, 4 brothers: John, Bob, Edward, and Jim Schrock, 2 sisters: Alma and Anna.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. Raymond Eugene McNeese, 89, of West Burlington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec.&nbsp; 12, 2024, at his home. Born on May 12, 1935 in Fairfield. He brought warmth, kindness, and a quiet strength to all who knew him. The son of Harold and Gladys Barnatt McNeese, Raymond grew up valuing family above all else. On April 23, 1960, he married his beloved partner in life, Letitia Ellen Hay, in Fairfield, Iowa. Their union was a testament to enduring love, and together they raised two daughters who were always guided by their father’s gentle heart and steady hand.

He was a man of Christian faith, whose kindness radiated through his every action. He loved his wife, Letitia, dearly and cherished his two daughters, Vicki Rawlings and Debra (Dale) Sutton, with the deepest devotion. To his grandchildren, he was more than a grandfather—he was a guiding presence, much like a father, offering stability and endless affection. Raymond took heartfelt pride in witnessing his family grow, celebrating six grandchildren—Aaron (Andrea) Rawlings, Adam (Casey) Rawlings, Lynette (Bradley) Grimm, Tyler (Abby) Hagerla, Mallory Rawlings-Wirt, and Coleton (Becca) Sutton—and welcoming 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren into the world.

In addition to Tish, he is survived by his sister, Karol Leazer, who, like so many others, knew him as a kind soul who lived by the values he quietly upheld. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Ruth Norton and Karen Phillips, and brothers-in-law Leron Leazer and Max Norton, and nephew Roger Leazer.

Raymond dedicated much of his working years to Vic Raider, Precast Concrete and later ABC Fire Extinguisher. Yet, his contributions to the community went far beyond his vocation. He proudly served as a member of the West Burlington Fire Department, was actively involved with the Eagles Aerie, and the Moose Lodge. Ray and Tish developed a hobby of antiquing, belonging to the Aladdin Knight Antique Collectors, and even started the business Good Time Antiques.

Ray leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and service—a reminder to cherish family, honor tradition, and greet each day’s challenges with understanding and grace.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. followed by ceremonial rites conducted by the Southeast Iowa Regional Fire Honor Guard. Burial will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, West Burlington.

According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Raymond Eugene McNeese

Robert Dean Dockendorff, 85, of San Francisco, Calif., formerly of Danville, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, at his home in San Francisco.

Born March 23, 1939, in Burlington, he was the son of Henry and Dorothy Dockendorff. He was raised on the family farm in Danville and will continue its legacy long after his death.

He was a graduate of Danville High School. He received an A.A. degree from Burlington Community College in 1958 and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1960 with a B.A. in Industrial Sociology. He continued his studies with the University of Iowa for several years.

In 1964, Mr. Dockendorff applied for the Naval Officer Candidate School and was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve and retired with the rank of Captain in 1988 after 25 years of service. In 1968, Mr. Dockendorff was hired by Pacific Maritime Association where he worked for 35 years, retiring as Vice President in 2003.

He lived in San Francisco, California and continued working on transportation and infrastructure projects. He developed a series of documentary film projects and was active with charitable organizations promoting social change.

He is survived by his sister Linda Johnson of Los Altos, California; niece Julie and great nieces Grace and Elsa and his longtime roommate and friend of 35 years Byron McQuarters Norris.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew.

The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will render full military honors at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 at Lunning Chapel. A graveside funeral service and interment will follow at Jagger Cemetery, rural Danville.

He received an A.A. degree from Burlington Community College in 1958 and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1960 with a B.A. in Industrial Sociology. He continued his studies with the University of Iowa for several years.In 1964, Mr. Dockendorff applied for the Naval Officer Candidate School and was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve and retired with the rank of Captain in 1988 after 25 years of service. Robert Eugene Hill, 81, of Burlington, died Monday, December 16, 2024, at his home.

Born April 12, 1943, in Hamburg, he was the son of Ezra "Pete" Ambrose and Lydia Elizabeth Powers Hill. On May 2, 1970, he married Claire Ruth Waters in Burlington.&nbsp;

He attended Shenandoah High School until he joined the military.&nbsp;

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving from April 15, 1960 until March 23, 1964. Bob was a proud American and was honored to serve.&nbsp;

Bob worked as a mechanic as a young man. After his military service, he worked as a Union Iron worker for 40 years until his retirement at age 64.

He was a member of Local Union 577 for 60 years, American Vets and V.F.W. #10102. He enjoyed rebuilding and customizing classic cars and taking them to car shows, where he had won multiple awards. He could be found in the garage either working on cars, passing his knowledge on to the next generation or supervision when he wasn't able.

Survivors include his wife, Claire Hill of Burlington; two children, Kandee Matthews of Navarre, Fla. and Jerry (Dina) Allen of Fort Madison; three grandchildren, Lynnae (Zach), Taylor (Haley) and Alexandria (Cameron); one great granddaughter on the way, Claire Ann and his two favorite nephews, Larry Rainey and Timmy Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Larry Hill, one sister, Barbara Rainey and niece, Diane Myers.&nbsp;

The celebration of life for Bob will be 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at West Avenue Baptist Church, 2500 West Ave. with Pastor Gerald Dzawo officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.&nbsp;

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Burlington Public Library.

Mimi Smutzer, 78, formerly of Burlington, died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, surrounded by the love and support of her family and friends.

Mary Lee “Mimi” Ripple was born in Brookville, Pa., to Margaret Mary (née Shannon) Ripple and John Leo Ripple on Oct. 3, 1946, and was the first of seven children.

Mimi grew up at the house her Dad built at 86 Summit Street in Brookville, Pa., and walked daily to attend elementary and secondary classes at Immaculate Conception School just steps away.

In 1964, she graduated from Central Catholic High School, in DuBois, Pa. Soon after graduation, her Dad accepted a job transfer and she relocated with her family to Burlington.

Mimi attended Burlington Community College in Burlington and for a time considered pursuing a nursing degree. While attending college, she met the man she would choose to build her future life with, Robert T. “Bob” Smutzer.

Mimi and Bob were married on Feb. 3, 1968, at St. Mary’s Church, Dodgeville. After Bob accepted a job at Micro Switch, they moved to Freeport, Ill., where they made their home raising their children Michele, Brian, and Brad.

Over the years, Mimi worked various retail, manufacturing, and banking positions, many of those in Freeport. She enjoyed crocheting and baking but most enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a wonderful spouse, mother, and grandmother with a laugh that would engulf a room and those around her. She had a mischievous smirk, a quick wit, and a tender heart the like of which we’ll not see again.

Mimi was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, John and Margaret Ripple, and her brothers, Jerry Ripple and Joseph Ripple.

She will be lovingly remembered by her immediate family including her children, Michele (Doral) Reining, Freeport, Brian (Kristie) Smutzer, Rhinelander, Wis., and Brad (Jeniffer) Smutzer, Batavia, Ill. By her grandchildren Morgan (Michael) Jacobs, Madelyn Reining, Jacob (Wendy Urbanek) Smutzer, Emma Smutzer, Ella Smutzer, Griffin Smutzer, and her siblings John (Beth) Ripple, Richard (Barb) Ripple, Susan (Greg) Holtkamp, and Dan (Kathryn) Ripple. Born on Dec. 31, 1939, in Burlington, she was the beloved daughter of Ernest and Vera Conn.&nbsp; Janet graduated from Burlington High School in 1958 and married the love of her life, Dean Wehrle, on July 19 of the same year.&nbsp; They shard a remarkable 66 years of marriage.

Janet worked as a school bus driver for the Burlington School District for 30 years, a role she cherished for the relationships she built with the children, always offering and receiving hugs with joy.&nbsp; Her life revolved around her family and her selfless care for others.&nbsp; She found happiness in spending time with her sister Lucille, gardening, tending her flowers, spending time outdoors, and reading while enjoying a cup of tea.&nbsp; Janet and Dean enjoyed many years of vacations with Dick and Elaine Wehrle and Jim and Jane Bradshaw, as well as leisurely drives through Crapo and Dankwardt parks, and Geode State Park, often ending with a treat from Dairy Queen.

Becky L. Anderson, 75, of West Burlington, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Becky’s life was a true testament to love, faith, and service.

Becky was born in Burlington on March 15, 1949, to Wayne and Edith “Sis” Dunegan Eccles.&nbsp; Becky graduated from Burlington High School in 1967. She went on to earn her degree from Truman State University and dedicated 35 years to teaching elementary school in the Burlington School District. Her kindness and commitment to her students left a lasting impact on the community.

Becky was a member of Burlington Baptist Church, and her faith was an anchor throughout her life.&nbsp; Prayer was a constant presence, providing strength and guidance in both joyful and challenging times. Becky’s love for crafting led her to create handmade cards for patients at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, and her generous spirit was shown through volunteering regularly at the West Burlington Christian Church Food Pantry.&nbsp; If a neighbor or a loved one was in need, Becky never hesitated to cook a meal or lend a helping hand.&nbsp;

Becky is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ronald Anderson; her three children, Russell (Amy) Anderson of Tulsa, Okla., Ryan (Sarah) Anderson of Mason, OH, and Rachel (Brian) Goins of Houston, Texas; and her seven cherished grandchildren: Sophia, Isaac, Matthew, Samuel, Lucas, Andrew, and Sydney; sister Sheree Boyd-Moore and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Becky’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, creating fond memories during family vacations, holiday gatherings, and her travels to visit her grandchildren.&nbsp; She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, celebrating their milestones and surrounding them with endless encouragement and love.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents and a beloved rainbow baby.

Darlene is survived by a sister Florence McMahon and brother Jerry Graham, three children Ronald Richardson, Rebecca Nelson, and Rocky (Dana) Brock. Also surviving are her grandchildren Angela (Justice) Shoemaker, RJ (Lynn) Richardson, Mike Crow, Tyler (Taylor) Nelson, Blake (Calli) Brock, Taylor (Keiten) Newberry, Kelly (Andrew) Schleisman, Stephanie (Joseph) Sbarro, Olivia Brock, and Kevin Brock. Richard A.&nbsp; Smith, 89, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 6:26 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2024 at The Elms in Macomb, Ill.&nbsp;

Richard was born July 30, 1935, in LaHarpe the son of Gail and Geneva Thurman Smith.&nbsp;

He graduated from LaHarpe High School in the class of 1955. He was a 60 year member of the LaHarpe Union Church and a 50 year member of the LaHarpe Fire Department.

Richard joined the U.S. Army following high school, where he was in communications. Previous to that he worked with his father in the plumbing, heating and electrical business. He was proud of the fact that he wired his first house at age 13. Upon his return from the Army, he started his own business, R.A. Smith Plumbing &amp; Heating, which he ran for over 55 years in LaHarpe.&nbsp;

Richard was united in marriage to Thelma Rosenberg on July 12, 1964 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington, Iowa. They shared 60 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Richard was a gentle man with a caring nature and a wonderful smile. He was known to fix anything and helped many people. He enjoyed going to flea markets, yard sales, hunting, mushrooming and spending time with his family.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Thelma; two children: Greg Smith of Burlington, Iowa and Debbie Higgins of LaHarpe; four grandchildren: Kara Wright, Kortney Higgins, Kristen Higgins and Cole Smith; two great-grandchildren: Eleanor and Harrison and one sister: Judy (Bill) Burt of LaHarpe.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents: one sister: Marilyn Jackson and two brothers: Eldon and Marion Smith.&nbsp;

Cremation has been entrusted to Bank &amp; Beals Funeral Home.&nbsp;

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at the Union Church in LaHarpe. The memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating. A luncheon will be held after the service.

A private family burial, with Military Rites, will be held at LaHarpe Cemetery.&nbsp;

A memorial fund has been established for the Union Church or the LaHarpe Fire Department.&nbsp;

Letha Sher Brown, 55, of Danville, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024 at home.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born August 23, 1969 in Burlington to David Franklin and Susan Alene Small Brown.&nbsp;

Marjorie Ruth McDowell, 95, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at Addington Place in Mount Pleasant.

Marjorie Ruth Baker McDowell was born on Dec.&nbsp; 13, 1928, on a farm near Yarmouth, Iowa, the daughter of Karl Elmer Baker and Sylvia Myrtle (Hodson) Baker. She married John E. McDowell on June 17, 1949, at the First United Methodist Church in Yarmouth.

Marjorie graduated from Yarmouth High School in 1946, where she played forward in the girls state championship basketball game, losing only to Coon Rapids. After high school, she attended Iowa Wesleyan College where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and was named Iowa Wesleyan Homecoming Queen in 1947. She graduated from IWC in 1950, with a teaching certificate in education.&nbsp;

Marjorie lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents, but she especially loved teaching. She taught first grade for several years before opening her own dance studio. She taught tap, ballet, jazz and acrobatics to many students in the Mount Pleasant area and produced annual dance recitals. After retiring from teaching dance, she enjoyed attending her grandchildren's dance recitals. She was very athletic and was always ready to teach skills related to basketball and softball to her grandchildren. Her husband John, and son Scott shared her love for baseball and the three of them often traveled to Kansas City to watch the Royals play. Marjorie and John also were active card club members where they developed many close friendships. Marjorie enjoyed sewing and baking desserts that were often the highlight of many family gatherings. She also tended a small garden and canned her best harvests. Marjorie was a kind soul and was always putting the needs of others before her own . Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her and she will be remembered for her bright disposition and personality.&nbsp;

Marjorie was an active member of the Founder’s Chapter of T.T.T. for over 50 years. She also was a dedicated volunteer at the First United Methodist Church and later in life volunteered at the Quarter Maybe More Store.&nbsp;

She is survived by her youngest brother Lawrence Dee Baker of Acton, Calif., daughter Janette Zuk of Easton, Penn., daughter Joan Coan of Lenexa, Kan., son Scott McDowell of Overland Park, Kan.. Grandchildren include Daria Kret of Easton, Penn., Jill Coan of Shawnee, Kan., Natalie Brigham of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., Jenna Bobrov of Fitchburg, Wis., and John Zuk of Bethlehem, Penn. Marge has seven great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and another great-granddaughter on the way.

Her husband, John, and first-born infant son, Bradley, preceded her in death.

The family would like to thank all of Mom's fantastic caregivers at Addington Place and EveryStep Hospice.&nbsp;

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant. Pastor Jeff McPheron will officiate. Dianna Lynne Quinn, 76, of Burlington, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield surrounded by family.

Born Sept. 28, 1948, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Jesse and Gladys Patton Snakenberg. She married George Quinn and they later divorced. From this union, she was blessed with her two children, Rick and Tammy.&nbsp;

She attended Burlington High School.&nbsp;

Dianna was a very talented artist and she enjoyed decorating cakes, making Barbie furniture for all the children of the family, arts and crafts and cross stitch. She liked staying connected to family through facebook and enjoyed playing all sorts of online games. Most of all, Dianna dearly loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Richard (Sandra) Quinn of Mediapolis; four grandchildren, Alyssa (Derek) Hancock, Jacob (Emma) Quinn, Khrystyna (Brandon) Treanor and Joseph Anspach; eight great-grandchildren, Addison Jo, Jesse, Ella, Carter, Raelynn, Joseph, Alexandra and Rowan; one sister, Rexetta Spiker; and two brothers, David and Charles Snakenberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Tammy Anspach, grandson, Richard Anspach, and four siblings, Connie, Ronnie, Linda and Beth.

Visitation will be from 12 to 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

Robinette Schubert, 96, of Burlington, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at the RidgeView Assisted Living in Burlington.

Born March 14, 1928, in Plano, she was the daughter of Otto L. Close and Edith E.&nbsp;Close&nbsp;Coon. On April 24, 1948, she married C. Nelson Schubert in Monmouth, Ill.&nbsp;

Robinette worked for Sylvania before retiring from J.I. Case Co. in 1984 after working there for fifteen years.&nbsp; Robinette was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.&nbsp; Robinette and Nelson enjoyed living on Tama&nbsp;Road along the river for many years.&nbsp; They&nbsp;enjoyed&nbsp;boating and found great peace watching the river roll by.&nbsp; Before Robinette's eyesight regressed in her later years, she loved reading and doing crossword&nbsp;puzzles.&nbsp; She also liked watching game shows and Lawrence Welk on T.V.&nbsp; Moreover, Robinette loved her family and loved spending time with them.&nbsp; Her passing leaves a sadness, but her memory will continue on through all who love her.

Robinette will be laid to rest next to Nelson at Aspen Grove Cemetery during a private family committal.

James Randall Richardson, 54, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024 at his home.

Born Jan. 18, 1970, in Iowa City, he was the son of Randall Richardson and Karen Butts Richardson West.&nbsp;

He was a 1988 graduate of Burlington High School.&nbsp;

James was most recently a welder at Addison Mechanical. He previously worked at WalMart Warehouse in Mount Pleasant and in construction.&nbsp;

He enjoyed cooking, making welded art, painting and playing "Pass the Pigs". He loved being outdoors and he was proud of the way he maintained his yard. He loved his cat, Squeaks.&nbsp;

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Karen and Clinton West of Burlington; life partner, Carla Bell of Burlington; daughter, Miranda Richardson of Burlington; son, Hayden Richardson of Burlington; grandson, Zeppelin Sena; and brother, Shane Michael Richardson of Wapello.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Betty and Howard Butts, paternal grandparents, Melvin and Juanita Richardson and two maternal uncles.&nbsp;

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

James Richardson

Jean Day-Stamper, 82, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 27, 1942, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Lorenz H. and Florence Marie Brookhiser Vahle. On Dec. 20, 1959, she married Louie Jr. Day. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2003. She later married David Stamper on July 29, 2006.

Jean drove a school bus for the Burlington Community School system for 21 years.

She was a member of Spring Grove United Methodist Church and the American Ladies Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband, David Stamper of Burlington; daughters, Virginia Eastin of Burlington, and&nbsp; Lori (Jim) Parcel of Davenport; grandchildren, Drew (Katie) Eastin, Adam Parcel, Astara and Aaron Stamper and Silas and Eleanor Boyer; and great-grandchild, Griffin Day Eastin.

Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, parents, two brothers, Walter R. Rehm and August F. Vahle, sister, Emma Bruhl and son, Chad Stamper.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The memorial service for Jean will be 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service with Pastor Jan Garza officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;

 </figure>Jean Day-Stamper, 82, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.Born May 27, 1942, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Lorenz H. and Florence Marie Brookhiser Vahle. On Dec. 20, 1959, she married Louie Jr. Day. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2003. She later married David Stamper on July 29, 2006.Jean drove a school bus for the Burlington Community School system for 21 years.She was a member of Spring Grove United Methodist Church and the American Ladies Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.&nbsp;Survivors include her husband, David Stamper of Burlington; daughters, Virginia Eastin of Burlington, and&nbsp; Lori (Jim) Parcel of Davenport; grandchildren, Drew (Katie) Eastin, Adam Parcel, Astara and Aaron Stamper and Silas and Eleanor Boyer; and great-grandchild, Griffin Day Eastin.Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, parents, two brothers, Walter R. Rehm and August F. Vahle, sister, Emma Bruhl and son, Chad Stamper.Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.The memorial service for Jean will be 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service with Pastor Jan Garza officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Spring Grove United Methodist Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;

James "Gene" Tutt, 82, of Burlington, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Dec. 26, 1941, in McLeod, Miss., he was the son of Edward and Ella May McCoy Tutt. He married Toni Wallace and they were later divorced.&nbsp;

He married Toni Wallace and they were later divorced.&nbsp;Gene migrated to St. Louis with his father and siblings in the early 1950s for a better life and more opportunity. He started working in the construction industry. Doing what he loved would eventually lead him to Burlington. There he worked for Leonard and then Bryan Shipley of Shipley Construction.Gene loved being around his grandchildren and enjoyed traveling to their activities when he was able. He also enjoyed socializing with his friends at his bar, Southside.Swapping stories of the past with a round of laughs was always on the menu. Gene will be lovingly remembered for always being helpful to all those he could and for being an overall good man.Survivors include two sons, Jason Tutt of Des Moines, and Jamie Tutt of Monmouth; six grandchildren, Jasmin, Jayme, Andrew, Jamiya, Jaylen and Darius; five great-grandchildren, four brothers, John Henry (Mae Earl) Clanton of Macon, Miss., Johnnie Tutt of Burlington, Lovell (Aura) Henderson of St. Louis, Mo., Willie Tutt of St. Louis, Mo.; five sisters, Carrie Rhoades, Rosie "Bell" Bellamy, Hattie Duncan, Venna "Bink" Tutt-Porter, and Callie Tutt all of St. Louis, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ella "Celia" Tutt, stepmother, Daseree "Muh" Tutt, brothers, Eddie Tutt and James "Jank" Henderson, nephews Mark "Sket" Tutt Sr., Johnnie Tutt, Jr and Terry Tutt.Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.The memorial service for Mr. Tutt will be 10 a.m.&nbsp; Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Deacon Tim Robinson and Pastor Marcus Timmons officiating.&nbsp;A repast will be held following the service at Union Baptist Church, 220 S. Central Ave., Burlington.A memorial has been established.
