Charles M. “Charlie” Wilton, 73, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.&nbsp;

Charlie was born March 26, 1952, in Colony, Kansas, the son of Justin and Emma Lorena (McGuirk) Wilton. On April 13, 1980, he married Connie Hensley in LaHarpe. She survives.

Mr. Wilton spent his childhood years in Missouri until his family relocated to Blandinsville, Illinois. He was a graduate of Northwestern High School. Following high school, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois. He began his working career in the construction industry; working for Hoffmeister Construction in Blandinsville. Later, he worked security at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison. Lastly, he retired as a Superintendent of Security from the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown.

He enjoyed photography, painting, carpentry and using his carpentry skills to help others. &nbsp;

Besides his wife, survivors include one son: Matt (Wrema) Strauser of North Liberty, Iowa; three grandchildren: Dalton, Lauren, and Justin; two sisters: Justina (Garry) Schultz of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Cora Foglesong of North Platte, Nebraska; and one brother: Mark (Dotti) Wilton of Oregon.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Kathryn Harding and Zada Wilton and another sister and brother in infancy.&nbsp;

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home.&nbsp;

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe.&nbsp;

Burial will be held at a later date in the LaHarpe Cemetery.&nbsp;

Jeanette Marie Mutchler, 84, of Fort Madison, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Klein Center in West Burlington. She was born August 4, 1941, in Fort Madison. She was the daughter of George Bartlett and Mary Peacock. On August 21, 1957, she married Lorence Mutchler in Burlington. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2009. Jeanette worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and Avon. She left the ordnance plant to help take care of her grandkids. Jeanette then took up rebating and a rural paper route. She spent her free time crafting, sewing, playing computer games, and playing pool. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking. She raised chickens, geese, turkeys, and quail. She loved animals of all kinds, except for snakes! Survivors include one son, Kenny Mutchler (Shirley Stewart) of Danville; one daughter, Carolyn (Craig) Calloway of Middletown; son-in-law, John Johnson of West Burlington; nine grandchildren, Melenie, Michelle, Matthew, Chad, Catherine, Christopher, Cynthia, Michael, and Amber; 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. &nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Joseph Peacock, husband, and daughter, Debbie Johnson. Sandra Louise Cole,&nbsp;63, of Bonaparte, Iowa, passed away at 9:14 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Country Lane Manor in Keosauqua, Iowa. She was born on July 19, 1962, in Kirksville, Mo., the daughter of Bernard and B. Maxine (Warner) Clark. She married Robert Cole; they later divorced. She is survived by her four children: Tyler Duncan of Bonaparte, Jeremiah Cole of Ottumwa, Tristian (Kristen) Cole of Bonaparte, Stormie Cole of Bonaparte; grandchildren: Noah, Chance, Chase, Kyran, Makenzie, Izzy, Zighrex, Dean, James, Bobby; one sister: Maria Rains of Bonaparte, Iowa; and one nephew: Dale. She was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews: Matt and Travis. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family. Per her wishes her body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation. Alan L. “Fuzz” Driskell, 84, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 3:48 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at his home.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Mr. Driskell was born February 11, 1942 in LaHarpe, the son of Wendell and Helen (Brown) Driskell. On July 3, 1965 he married Katherine S. “Kathy” Driskell in Carthage, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2025.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Fuzz was a graduate of Northwestern High School. Following high school, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northwest Missouri State University and later his Master’s Degree from Northeast Missouri State University. He began his teaching and coaching career at Media-Wever High School, Media, Illinois.&nbsp; He then moved into administration and eventually served as a principal for the LaHarpe School District.&nbsp; He made a career change in the 1980’s and worked for First State Bank in LaHarpe until his retirement.&nbsp;

He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was a longtime member of the Blandinsville Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge.&nbsp;

Survivors include two children: Wendi Harrell (Eric Appelquist) and Phil Driskell (Helen Driskell); four grandchildren: Chris Harrell (Alicia Harrell), Catie Harrell (fiancée Brian Lemenager), Nolan Driskell, and Caelan Driskell; and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Carter Harrell. Also surviving is one brother: Joe Driskell of Blandinsville, and one sister: Janice Ritenour of Dubuque, Iowa.&nbsp;

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter: Michele Driskell; two brothers: Wendell “Wimp” Driskell Jr, and Donald “Red” Driskell and one sister: Carolyn Moore.&nbsp;

Salvatore “Sam” Mattia Baxter, 76, of Fort Madison, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 12, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.&nbsp; Sam was born on October 16, 1949, in Fort Madison, Iowa, to Joseph Baxter of Fort Madison and Francesca Anna (DeGennaro) Baxter of Naples, Italy. Sam was a 1967 graduate of Aquinas High School. Upon graduation, Sam spent five years on the continent of Australia and loved to recount his time working on shrimp boats, bauxite mining, brick-making, and as a Honda motorcycle mechanic. Upon moving back to the United States, he worked on everything from barges on the Mississippi River to locomotive engines at BNSF shops in Burlington, Iowa. Sam first married Jill Bentley, and they later divorced. On July 17, 1999, he married Linda Denning Hunold at St. Boniface in Farmington, Iowa. He retired in 2015 from BNSF as a railroad conductor. Sam was curious, quick with a joke or a pun, and loved to tell stories to anyone who would listen. Fun-loving at heart, he was always whipping up paper airplanes, word games, potato guns, or trebuchets for his grandchildren, who he adored and enthusiastically recounted stories about. A true Renaissance man, Sam could be found tinkering with his car or a home project, making jewelry, debating philosophy, or devouring historical programs. He was a talented guitar player and cartoonist. To say that Sam was a good cook would be an understatement and he passed that love of cooking on to his children. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, as well as his children: Danielle (Ramy) Henin of Marion, Iowa, and Benjamin (Emily) Baxter of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; sisters Rosie (James) Helling of San Antonio, Texas, and Teresa Roth of San Antonio, Texas. Sam was a “second dad” to Ben (Tracey Griser) Hunold of Farmington, Iowa, Sarah (Andrew) Stephens of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Jennifer Hunold (Jake Winiski) of Troy, New York. Bud was born May 12th, 1938, to Virgil "Jack" and Edna Dowell in Lomax. He married Judith "Judy" Reid on July 29th, 1956, at the Christian Church in Dallas City. Bud was an ironworker for over 50 years. He attended Pontoosuc Community Church for many years and served as a deacon. Later in life, he attended the Terre Haute Community Church. Bud enjoyed hunting, playing cards, watching WWE, old westerns, and Nascar Races. He was a deeply devoted family man. Bud is survived by four brothers, Jack Dowell of Plains, MT, Bob (Joani) Dowell of Dallas City, Ill., Gail Dowell of Montrose, Mike Dowell of Dallas City, and a sister, Penny Dowell of Tennessee, IL. Four children, Linda Doss (Bill Merschbrock) of Fort Madison, Sarah Rashid of Fort Madison, Bill (Lori) Dowell of Burlington, and Kelly (Nancy) Dowell of Fairhope, Ala., 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Kathleen “Katy” Agnes Nielsen, 70, of Burlington, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born on September 14, 1955, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Tom and Joyce (Swisher) Daly. She married Alan Nielsen on November 7, 1981.

She loved music, especially Neil Diamond, 80s music, and musicals. She loved doing puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and her cats.

She is survived by her loving husband, Al Nielsen; two children, J. Cody Nielsen and Kylie (Zach) Youmans; three grandchildren, Levi Nielsen, Aubree Youmans, and Everett Youmans; her sisters, Tina (Jorje) Daly Rios, Kari (Jason) Daly-Green, and Lisa Daly.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends.

Bonita K. “Bonnie” Marshall, 82, of Macomb, Illinois, formerly of Sperry, Iowa, died Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

Born on June 5, 1943, in Illinois, she was the daughter of Merritt and Norma (Bayles) Yelton. On April 3, 1963, in Sciota, Illinois, she married David C. Marshall. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2020.

Bonnie was a 1961 graduate of Sciota High School. She worked as a certified nurses assistant for several nursing homes in the local area. Bonnie loved her pets, especially her black lab Sadie Mae, Ragdoll kitty Gracie, and all the Chihuahua dogs she had throughout the years. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo, watching game shows and going to karaoke with her daughter. Bonnie also loved to relax with a good book, which she instilled in her children. Most of all, Bonnie loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three children: Laurie McBride of Sperry, Iowa, Dan (Anne) Marshall of Burlington, and Brian Marshall of Durango, Colorado; grandson Dusty (Haley) Smith and great grandchildren: Madi and Kendrick; siblings: Janey (Don) Westermeyer, Barb Knell, Aaron (Terri) Yelton and Ina (Mike) Hammond. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, two sisters: Carolyn McCance and Nina Moshage; son in-law Eugene McBride and two brother’s in-law: Gerald McCance and Don Waller.

Jeanette Aldeane Pearsall, 93, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, February 11, 2026, while staying at her daughter's home.

Born September 18, 1932, in Salem, Ore., she was the daughter of James B. and Mabel Mason Sullivan. On August 1, 1950, she married Calvin Edwin Pearsall in First Baptist Church in Salem, Oregon. He died July 15, 2025.

She graduated from Salem High School in Oregon in 1950.

Jeanette worked as a secretary at First Baptist Church in Salem for 30 years. In addition to her role in the office, she faithfully served as a deaconess and was always willing to help wherever she was needed. Above all, her greatest joy was caring for her home and family.

She enjoyed quilting and sewing, and in her younger years, she loved to sing and play the piano.

Survivors include her daughter, Diana (Dave) Cretsinger of Mount Pleasant; three grandchildren, Alex, Amy and Aubrey; six great-grandchildren, Paisley, Ryder, Charlotte, Jaxon, Kipton and Hazel, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Jan Wink, sister, Eloise Bingenheimer and brother, Robert Sullivan.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Joyce Colleen Williams, 81, of West Burlington, died Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the &nbsp;in West Burlington.

Born July 27, 1944, in Ottumwa, she was the daughter of Manuel Alan and Alma Mae Davidson Surber. On April 24, 1964, she married David LeRoy Williams in Kirksville, MO.&nbsp;

Joyce worked for 23 years for Excide Battery Company.

She loved working in the garden, reading, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Michael Bishop of Burlington and Julie (DeWayne) Upton of Greenveille, TN; two step-daughters, Linda Long and Teresa Dotson of MO; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, David, Mark and Terry Williams, two step-daughters, Kathy Sedore and Betty Jo Findlay, five brothers and two sister.

Born November 6, 1950, in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter Shirley Joan Law Rowe. On November 20, 1981, she married Tim Deam in Burlington, IA.&nbsp;

She was a 1968 graduate of Burlington High School and later earned her nursing degree from the Burlington School of Nursing.&nbsp;

Shelley devoted her entire life to caring for others through her work in health care. She served as a surgical nurse at the former Mercy Hospital, went on to lead with compassion as Director of Nursing for several nursing homes, and concluded her career providing comfort and dignity to patients and families through Hospice care.

She was a member of &nbsp;Jane A. Delano Club and TOPS. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and traveling with her husband.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband, Tim Deam of Mediapolis; sister, Janet Marshall of Burlington; &nbsp;brother, John (Sandy) Rowe of Saint Charles, MO; and nephew, Ben Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her mother, aunt and uncle.

Tracy Denise (Anderson) West, 66, of Burlington, Iowa, died Friday February 13, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born on October 26, 1959, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Celia (Watkins) Anderson. On September 9, 1978, in Burlington, Iowa, she married her high school sweetheart Jeffrey R. West.

Tracy was a 1978 graduate of Burlington High School. She owned and operated a house cleaning business for thirty years. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Burlington and PEO Chapter P. Tracy was very active in her church and loved serving the Lord. In her free time, she enjoyed scrapbooking, quilting and working in her flower garden. Most of all, Tracy’s family meant the most to her. Spending time with her children and grandchildren brought her the most joy. Tracy took much pride in being Jeff’s wife and mother to her children.

She is survived by her loving husband Jeff; three children: Aron (Amy) West of Danville, Iowa, Fr. MaKarios (Angela) West of Columbus, Ohio, and Rachel West of Iowa City, Iowa; six grandchildren: Aiden, Aviana and Ashton West of Danville, Anastasia, Sophia and Demiana West of Columbus, Ohio; mother Celia Anderson of Burlington, Iowa; three sisters: Shelly (Rick) Rustad of Urbana, Iowa, Christy (Chris) Kelly of Fort Madison, and Kimberly (Nick) Dominguez of Glendale, Arizona. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father John, grandparents: Virgil and Elizabeth Watkins and John and Evelyn Anderson.

Nancy Anderson, 69, of Burlington, formerly of Texas, died Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born November 17, 1956, in Missouri, she was the daughter of Steve and Jean Lipari.

She married John Michael “Mike” Anderson. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Nancy worked for Frito Lay in customer service for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, the color blue and spending time loving on her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Jeremy (Crystal Horn) Anderson of Burlington; three grandchildren, Derek John Anderson, Riley Paige Anderson and Asher Dean Anderson and siblings Leslie Keller and A.J. Keller.

According to her wishes cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Eugene “Gene” Edward Sharp, 84, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026. He was under the care of Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice. He has most recently resided at Addington Place of Burlington.

Born on November 16, 1941, in Mankato, Kansas, he was the son of Veryle and June (Anderson) Sharp. He had six siblings. Gene had two sons by his first marriage, Brian Sharp and Damen Sharp of Burlington, Iowa. Gene’s second marriage was to Annetta Marilyn (Herrington) Sharp on January 1, 1992. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2025.

Gene served as a Captain with The Salvation Army through out most of his career. He also worked on administrative staffs for local nursing homes.

Gene excelled at woodworking, gardening and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, games, solving puzzles and was an avid reader. He and his wife especially enjoyed time with their adult children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gene was a man of faith. Ministry and serving others were of top priority in his life. He was able to participate in bible study up until the last week of his life. Gene believed in keeping a positive focus even in hard times. One of his favorite bible passages was John 3:16-17 (ESV) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

He is survived by his son, Damen (Kelly) Sharp of Burlington, daughter-in-law, Tempest Sharp, granddaughter, Nicolle Drummer, grandson, Blake Sharp, and a great-grandson, Kyle, and four siblings.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, parents, sister Evelyn and one son Brian.

Eugene "Gene" Sharp

Kent Jay Kreiss, 55, of West Burlington, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Kent was born on June 6, 1970, in Fairfield, IA, and was the son of Gary Lee and Vivian Leona Westercamp Kreiss. On May 21, 1994, he married Kerry Lynn Levins in Miami, Florida.&nbsp;

Kent was a 1989 graduate of Fairfield High School and later earned an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Community College.&nbsp;

He dedicated 31 years of service as a contractor sales associate at Menards.

Kent was known for his sense of humor, quick wit, and love of joking with those closest to him, as well as his kind and helpful nature. He enjoyed watching sports, having a beer and tinkering; there was nothing he couldn't fix. But most of all, Kent loved spending time with his family.&nbsp;

On May 21, 1994, he married Kerry Lynn Levins in Miami, Florida.&nbsp;Kent was a 1989 graduate of Fairfield High School and later earned an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Community College.&nbsp;He dedicated 31 years of service as a contractor sales associate at Menards.Kent was known for his sense of humor, quick wit, and love of joking with those closest to him, as well as his kind and helpful nature. He enjoyed watching sports, having a beer and tinkering; there was nothing he couldn't fix. George Raymond Galvin, 89, of Burlington, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at his home.

Born November 2, 1936, in Burlington, he was the son of Walter Elliot and Gertrude E. Rogosia Galvin. On December 26, 1960, he married Luana Claire Boyle, the love of his life, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Burlington.

He was a 1954 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from January 21, 1958, until December 14, 1959. After his time in the Army, George finished his Bachelor's degree from NE Missouri State University in 1962, followed by Master's and Ed.S. degrees from Western Illinois University.

George was a teacher and elementary school principal in the Burlington School District for 34 years. After retiring in 1996 from the school district, he was a part-time residential officer at the Burlington Halfway House for 10 years.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his family. He cherished his extended family vacations. His family brought him great joy and pride in their accomplishments.

Survivors include his two sons, Eric (Robin) Galvin of Des Moines, and Tom (Leah) Galvin of Burlington; one daughter, Jennifer (Travis) Beard of Pella; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, in law, Cindy Galvin, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Luana, who passed on May 31, 2022. He was also preceded by his parents, three brothers, Robert, James (Dorothy), and Walter (Jean), and one grandson, Ian George Galvin.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

Born July 29, 1940, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Rudolph William and Ollie Westerbeck Schwerin.

William made box springs for Chittenden and Eastman Company for 41 years.

He was an avid cyclist and rode 101,000 miles in ten years, he enjoyed taking pictures and car shows.

Survivors include his son, Tod (Christine) Schwerin of Hamilton, IL and sister, Marciel Wardle of Dallas, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant daughter.

David Alan Roelfs, 66, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Mediapolis, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Gifted Hands Hospice Care in Mesa, Ariz. He was the son of Norman and Lois Roelfs.&nbsp; He graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1978.&nbsp; In 1981, he married Patti Reeb.&nbsp; They later divorced.&nbsp; David worked at United States Gypsum Company (USG) for almost 38 years before retiring in 2015. &nbsp; David is survived by his son, Jordan Roelfs, of Chandler, AZ, his mother, Lois Roelfs, of Mediapolis, IA, his brothers Doug (Denise) Roelfs of Mediapolis, IA, Don (Diane) Roelfs of Yarmouth, IA, and brother-in-law, David Govea of Harlingen, TX. Margaret “Margie" E. Breuer, 82 of Cedar Falls, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026.&nbsp; She was born February 23, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Walden T. and Elizabeth Grace (Jones) Smith.&nbsp; She graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1961.&nbsp; She married William K. "Bill" Breuer in September of 1961.&nbsp;

She was an active member of the Wapello United Methodist Church where she enjoyed playing the organ.&nbsp; She was a member of the local PTO.&nbsp; Music and the Arts were a big part of Margie’s life.&nbsp; She enjoyed dancing and performing in her youth. She later volunteered as the choreographer for Mediapolis High School. Margie loved being a mom and grandma; family was very important to her. She was always involved in her kids' and grandkids' activities, helping and volunteering however she could. Margie shared her home with many pets (especially cats) throughout her lifetime.&nbsp; She also enjoyed an occasional McDonald's “Mocha Frappe” and loved playing cards (especially "The Quarter Game”) with her family.&nbsp;

She is survived by her children: Susan (Steven) Reneker of Palm Bay, FL, Joan (Leslie) Getz of La Porte City, IA, and Daniel (Kimberly) Breuer of Troutman, NC. 6 grandchildren: Jaymie (Ray) Reneker, Emily Getz, Abby (Andrew) Arthur, Hannah Getz, Ashlyn Breuer, and Kylie Breuer.&nbsp; Two sisters: Marilyn Seelinger and Walda (Jack) Gustafson. Sister-in-law: Janice (Steven) Cummings and brother-in-law, Robert (Diana) Breuer.

Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and son, David W. Breuer.

Kathy Jane Kendall, 72, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away on February 8, 2026, in Iowa City.

Born on February 4, 1954, in LaHarpe, Illinois, Kathy was the daughter of Robert and Jean Cratsenberg. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Western Illinois University and retired after more than 20 years in elementary education. Most importantly, she was a beloved sister, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by two children, four grandchildren, and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Kathy loved her grandchildren, her children, her sisters, her friends, and her community. She was an inexhaustible listener and nurturer, with a deep affection for the delicate, the underregarded, and the fragile. She instilled in her children and grandchildren a love of history, antiques, and above all, a love of God.

Corinne Ellen Durand, 79, of Dallas City, Illinois, passed away at 10:38 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Oak Lane Nursing &amp; Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois.

Corinne was born February 4, 1947 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd Austin and Mary Mildred (Westfall) Kent. On May 18, 1968, she married Thomas W. Durand at the Sacred Heart Church in Fort Madison. He survives.

Also surviving is one son: Michael (Kesha) Durand of Quincy, Illinois; two brothers: Jim Kent of Florida and Walt (Kathy) Kent of Burlington, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp;

Corinne was a 1965 graduate of Aquinas High School in Fort Madison. Following high school, she attended Business College. Earlier in life, she worked as a secretary for Bill Thompson Grain Elevators. Later, she co-owned No Mos’ No More Tavern in Roseville with her husband. Together, Corinne and Tom also co-owned CW Harris Company and Thomas W. Durand Company, providing custodial work throughout the area. She was a hard-working, go-getter woman with a bit of an ornery side. She helped with Cub Scouts and organizing the Little Swan Lake fishing tournaments. She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City.&nbsp;

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home.

Corinne Ellen Durand

Jerry Jack, 82, of LaHarpe, Ill. passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, after a mighty battle with pancreatic cancer.&nbsp;

Jerry was born on Feb 25, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa, to Max and Eleanor Rankin Jack.&nbsp; Max got TB, so the family moved to Wyoming to have him in a drier climate and utilize the iron lung. When Jerry was only three, his dad passed, so his mother and siblings rode a train back to Stronghurst with his dad’s body in the back of the train. Once the family settled in Stronghurst, his mother and grandparents, Roy and Emma Rankin, helped raise he and the siblings. His grandmother, Emma, taught Jerry how to grow a garden and often sang the song “The lily of the valley” to him in Swedish. His grandfather, Roy taught him how to be a wonderful father and honorable man of God. He spent all of his spare time in the country with them, and this started his love of farming. Jerry farmed with his Grandpa Rankin for eleven years following graduation from Stronghurst High School in 1961. Jerry first laid his eyes on Barbara Jarvis in first grade, and loved her ever since. They were married on her birthday, January 5, 1962. The young couple farmed and raised a huge garden, with the children helping.

In 1965, they were asked to be on a committee to see about starting a New Testament Church in West Burlington, Iowa. Several couples from Stronghurst and LaHarpe Christian Church were instrumental in starting the church, with Bernie Zylstra as the minister. Jerry was a deacon, and he and Barb both taught Sunday School. They stayed there for many years before returning to the Stronghurst Christian Church.

In 1972, the family left for Colorado to manage a motel. After a few years, Jerry was pulled back to his farming roots and landed an ag sales job. Farming was always close to his heart, as well as his enjoyment in raising goats.

Jerry enjoyed re-modeling, puzzles, and gardening, but especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, &nbsp;great-grandchildren, and his dog Cinnamin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Max Jack, mother, Eleanor Green; his stepfather, Jim Green, grandparents Roy and Emma Rankin, his brother, James Jack (Angela Myers), sister, Jackie Jannereth (Bob), brothers-in-law, Ken Jarvis and Rick Jarvis, sisters-in-law, Sandy Jarvis and Carol Jarvis Neff.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barbara, 2 sons, Tim Jack and Dan (Christa) Jack, daughter Debbie (Brian) Scanlon, sisters-in-law, Angela Jack Myers and Marilyn (Boots) Jarvis, and brother in law Robert Jannereth.  </figure>Jerry Jack, 82, of LaHarpe, Ill. passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, after a mighty battle with pancreatic cancer.&nbsp;Jerry was born on Feb 25, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa, to Max and Eleanor Rankin Jack.&nbsp; Max got TB, so the family moved to Wyoming to have him in a drier climate and utilize the iron lung. When Jerry was only three, his dad passed, so his mother and siblings rode a train back to Stronghurst with his dad’s body in the back of the train. Once the family settled in Stronghurst, his mother and grandparents, Roy and Emma Rankin, helped raise he and the siblings. His grandmother, Emma, taught Jerry how to grow a garden and often sang the song “The lily of the valley” to him in Swedish. His grandfather, Roy taught him how to be a wonderful father and honorable man of God. He spent all of his spare time in the country with them, and this started his love of farming. Jerry farmed with his Grandpa Rankin for eleven years following graduation from Stronghurst High School in 1961. Jerry first laid his eyes on Barbara Jarvis in first grade, and loved her ever since. They were married on her birthday, January 5, 1962. The young couple farmed and raised a huge garden, with the children helping.In 1965, they were asked to be on a committee to see about starting a New Testament Church in West Burlington, Iowa. Several couples from Stronghurst and LaHarpe Christian Church were instrumental in starting the church, with Bernie Zylstra as the minister. Jerry was a deacon, and he and Barb both taught Sunday School. They stayed there for many years before returning to the Stronghurst Christian Church.In 1972, the family left for Colorado to manage a motel. After a few years, Jerry was pulled back to his farming roots and landed an ag sales job. Farming was always close to his heart, as well as his enjoyment in raising goats.Jerry enjoyed re-modeling, puzzles, and gardening, but especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, &nbsp;great-grandchildren, and his dog Cinnamin.He was preceded in death by his father, Max Jack, mother, Eleanor Green; his stepfather, Jim Green, grandparents Roy and Emma Rankin, his brother, James Jack (Angela Myers), sister, Jackie Jannereth (Bob), brothers-in-law, Ken Jarvis and Rick Jarvis, sisters-in-law, Sandy Jarvis and Carol Jarvis Neff.Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Barbara, 2 sons, Tim Jack and Dan (Christa) Jack, daughter Debbie (Brian) Scanlon, sisters-in-law, Angela Jack Myers and Marilyn (Boots) Jarvis, and brother in law Robert Jannereth. Kay A. Miller, 88, of New London, died Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Sunrise Terrace in Winfield.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born December 11, 1937 in Fairfield to Verdon Wm “Bill” and Beatrice Eloise Baker Thomes.&nbsp;&nbsp;On July 5, 1957, she married Ronald F. Miller in Ft. Madison.&nbsp;&nbsp;He died July 10, 2001.

Kay graduated from Dallas City, Illinois High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;While working full time and raising four children, she completed her teaching degree at Iowa Wesleyan College.&nbsp;&nbsp;She taught fifth grade in New London for twenty-seven years.

For many years, she and Ron traveled to flea markets to sell their collection of dignified junk and antiques.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was an avid reader and a firm believer that you shouldn’t go anywhere without a book.&nbsp;&nbsp;She enjoyed crossword puzzles and going out to eat with her family and friends, especially if that included pie!&nbsp;&nbsp;She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.&nbsp;&nbsp;She took her grandchildren on many educational adventures and loved attending Broadway shows with her daughters and granddaughter.

She was a member of Chapter EV, PEO; a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma; and the retired Henry County Teachers Association.&nbsp;&nbsp;She attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Those thankful for sharing in Kay’s life are her children Mitch (Tammy) Miller of Davenport, Kirk (Deb) Miller of New London, Marcy Vantiger of Mt. Union and Missy (Alan) Fear of Olds; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and her siblings Gary (Jean Ann) Thomes of Dallas City, Illinois and Jean (Hans) Rabong of West Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and son-in-law Joe Vantiger.

Carol Sue Huss, 76, of Dallas City, Ill. , passed away at 7:04 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at her home. Carol was born October 8, 1949, in Fort Madison, the daughter of Kenneth Lee “Bud” and Naomi Irene (Tollman) Whittemore. On March 2, 1968, she married Raymond Huss in Dallas City. He survives.&nbsp;

Carol was raised and educated in Dallas City. Earlier in life, she worked as a waitress for the former Italian Village and Riverview Supper Club, both in Dallas City. Later, she was employed by AntennaCraft, Vista Bakery, and Lamont Basket Factory, all in Burlington, until her retirement.&nbsp; Mrs. Huss was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed crafting plastics and knitting.

Pleasant; two sisters: Donna Tenpenny and Sally Brickey and two brothers: Bill and Greg Whittemore.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents; one son: Raymond Joseph Huss, one brother, Larry Whittemore; and three sisters, Beverly Hohl, Reva Gorman, and Kay Peel.&nbsp; Cremation has been entrusted to Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home.&nbsp; A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City.&nbsp; Burial will be held at a later date at Harris Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer's Association.&nbsp;
