Marjorie Joyce “Johnny” Foster, 92, of Burlington, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024 at her home.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born in Lowell on Nov. 30, 1931 to William Lee and Laura V. Thornburg Pickle.&nbsp;&nbsp;She attended Denmark High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;She married Carl Foster and they later divorced.

She was a Grand Lodge Representative for the International Association of Machinists for many years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Johnny was very active in the Democratic party; enjoyed cooking, visiting friends, and especially loved her family.&nbsp;&nbsp;She had an incredible knack for knowing what a person wanted and thoroughly enjoyed gifting you with it.

Survivors include her sons Clinton Daniel (Julie) Foster and Scottie Foster, both of Burlington; daughter Laurie (David) Bawidamann of Burnsville, Minn.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Karen Putnam of West Burlington and Mary Gohr of Burlington.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; six sisters; grandson JD Foster; and granddaughter Jessica Wiegard.

According to her wishes her body has been cremated and there will be no services.&nbsp;&nbsp;In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Elliott Chapel, New London, is assisting the family.

Patricia Ann “Patsy” Watts, 82, of Burlington, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, at the Klein Center, West Burlington.

Born Oct. 1, 1941, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond John and Frances Gallagher.&nbsp; She was a 1959 graduate of Notre Dame High School.

She married James Watts on Sept. 3, 1960, and were just shy of their 64th wedding anniversary.

Patsy worked as a hostess for many years for the Arion restaurant and later for Walgreens for 15 years.&nbsp; She was of the Catholic faith.

Patsy “did it her way”!&nbsp; She was an entertainer and was always the hostess with the mostest.&nbsp; She loved telling stories, and crafting her well known “nasty pot holders in addition to beer can hats, due to this she was lovingly known as “Pot Holder” as a CB handle and with her friends.&nbsp; Shopping was her passion and she loved attending tag sales.&nbsp; While shopping, if she happened to see a craft idea, she would undoubtedly come up with the idea, with Jim always being the manufacturer.&nbsp; It was indeed a team effort.

She is survived by her husband James “Jim” Watts of Burlington; children; Lori Dabner of Burlington, T.J. (Diana) Watts of Carman, Ill. and Pam (Ken) Jackson and Joni (Bob) Anderson both of Burlington; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and sister Mary Snowden of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson and her brother Raymond Gallagher.

The funeral service for Patsy will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at Lunning Chapel.&nbsp; The Rev. Father Dominic Nguyen will officiate.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.

Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service and has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.&nbsp; Burial will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Neal Edward Krieger, 79, of New London, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, at his home. Neal was born July 2, 1945, in Burlington, the son of Edward and Florence Lorenz Krieger.&nbsp;&nbsp;He attended school in Sperry through the 11th&nbsp;grade and graduated from Burlington High School in 1963.&nbsp;&nbsp;Neal was in the Army Reserves and attended Harmony Bible Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;On April 6, 1968, he married Barbara Hallgren in Burlington.

Neal bought his farm in New London in 1979 while still employed as a sheet metal worker for Brockway and then Frank Millard and Company, both in Burlington, retiring at 55. He then began his fulltime passion and love, farming.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, farming, mushroom hunting, deer hunting, and joking around with everyone.&nbsp;&nbsp;He would say, “I love it when people smile!”

Neal is survived by his wife Barbara; son Mark (Vicki) Krieger of Muscatine; daughters Michele (Justin) Johnsen of Heyworth, Illinois, and Gina (Mark) McSorley of New London; grandchildren Bailey and Carly Krieger, Addison, Ellery and Aven Johnsen, Carson, Isaac and Ashlyn McSorley; brothers Jerry (Barb) Krieger of Mediapolis and Roger (Jan) Krieger of Burlington; nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, at Elliott Chapel, New London.&nbsp;&nbsp;Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. at the Chapel with the family receiving friends from noon until time of the service. Donna Jean Frank, 92, of Burlington, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at the Aspire of Donnellson in Donnellson.

Born on June 8, 1932, in Salem, she was the daughter of Otto and Ruth Alter Garmoe. On Nov. 15, 1952, she married Robert H. Frank. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 2019.

Donna was a graduate of Salem High School and a member of Sperry Global Methodist Church. For many years she worked for Wal-Mart where she retired from. Donna enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing her produce that she harvested. She loved being in the kitchen cooking and baking for friends and family. Donna also enjoyed sewing. When her children were little, she would sew their clothing and even sewed outfits for her grandchildren. Above all else, her family was her pride and joy and she loved being with them.

She is survived by her three daughters: Connie (Craig) Schmidt, Robin Frank and Michelle (Darin) Hauswirth; five grandchildren: Amanda (Caleb Kruse) Schmidt, Carmen Schmidt, Brady (Claire) Schmidt, Emily (Sam) Kuckes and Nick (Hanna) Hauswirth; three great grandsons: Aiden, Dallyn and Dryver. Also surviving is one brother Keith Garmoe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, brother Maurice Garmoe and sister Lucille Garmoe.

The funeral service for Donna will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Bruce Smith officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be held in Burlington Memorial Park.

A memorial has been established in her memory.

Eugene A. Bauer, 77, of Danville, Iowa, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at his home.

Born on Feb. 15, 1947, in Worland, Wyo., he was the son of Theodore A. and Lily M. Elliott Bauer. On Dec. 28, 1966, in Glendive, Mont., he married Eileen F. Malmend.

Gene was of Lutheran faith. He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked for several years for BNSF where he retired from. After retirement Gene enjoyed working as a Ranger for Flint Hills Golf Course. In his free time, you could find him out on the golf course doing what he loved. He also loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinal, hunting in Montana and working on cars. Most of all Gene always enjoyed seeing his grandchildren in school activities, playing in sports and being with his family.

He is survived by his wife Eileen; two children: Tracy (Alan) Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Brian (Angie) Bauer of Danville; four grandchildren: Alyssa (Tanner) Gerst of Cedar Rapids, Alexis (Trenton) Massner of Mount Pleasant, Jaden and Alivia Bauer of Danville; brother Michael Bauer of Billings, Mont. and sister Lucille Kramer of Colorado Springs, Colo. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Chet Bauer.

Per his wishes cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at Lunning Chapel with the family meeting with friends at that time. A memorial has been established in his memory for the Danville Boosters Club.

Eugene A. "Gene" Bauer

Annette Miller, 84, "Anne-Annie", of Burlington, passed from this world to her heavenly home on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024. She died at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Annette was born on May 26, 1940, in Mena, Ark., to William and Nadine Graham. Her mother died when she was an infant. Her father raised her with the help of her Aunt Mary and “sister cousins” Patsy, Peggy and Aunalee. Her father remarried when she was six years old and Lois Edna Graham was her loving mother for 70 years. They all preceded her in death.

Annette and her family moved to Burlington in 1951. She was a 1959 BHS graduate.

In the early 1960’s she got a job in the 600 block of Jefferson Street as a waitress at Harold’s Café. Little did she realize that several years later she would marry the owner, Harold A. Miller. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1996.

Annette worked several different jobs in the Burlington area including Woolworths, St. Francis Hospital, Sylvania and Champion Spark Plug.

In the early 1970’s she and Harold moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas and lived there several years. They had a restaurant there called “Speedy’s Café” and later owned a small neighborhood grocery store called “Miller’s 7th Street Grocery”. They also were local landlords. After they sold the grocery store, Annette became bored with retirement and enrolled in nursing school and became an LPN at the age of 50. She worked at a hospital for a while until her husband became ill, then he became her number one patient. When she moved back to Burlington she used those nursing skills as a home health aide.

After Harold’s passing, Annette hated to leave her beloved mountains of Arkansas, but decided to return to Burlington in 2000 to be closer to family.

There were only two things that Annette loved more than her family, friends and pets and that was church and music. She could play the piano, organ, and accordion. She started playing the piano at 6 years of age. She was often asked to play at her own church services and other churches as well. She would sing at church with the choir and in small groups for nursing home residents. Annette was a long-time member of Flint Hills Church of the Nazarene and also the Burlington Baptist Church and a Nazarene Church in Hot Springs. She was always ready for church, if not her own she would visit others. She taught Sunday School over the years to different age groups from young to old. She loved studying the Bible with different ladies’ groups. She could rattle off the books of the Bible in no time flat and could quote many scriptures by heart.

She also loved reading, working crossword puzzles and playing along with TV game shows. She was very intelligent and had an excellent memory. She was a very sweet, kind, thoughtful person and loved to laugh and have fun and be with people.

Annette was also preceded in death by her brother Zane, an infant sister Rebecca and a half-sister Lavonne. Her step-son Ronald Miller, her step-daughter and her husband, Patricia and Gary Tansey, a brother-in-law Jim Hutson and a nephew-in-law Jim Harris.

She is survived by two brothers; Larry (LuAnn) Graham, Billy (Shainna) Graham, sister, Dianna Hutson, step-daughter Marilyn (Marvin) Westfall, step daughter-in-law Linda Miller (Steve Mehaffy); eight step grandchildren and several step great and great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, step aunts, step uncles and many, many wonderful friends.

The family would prefer that you not send flowers or donations. Annette had a gift of using her time, talent and treasures to bless others. She gave her time by visiting people who were lonely or sick, gave people car rides to wherever they needed to go. She used her musical abilities for anyone who wanted to listen and she gave money to others at times when she didn’t have a lot to spare, she would always throw something in the church offering plate and she always thought it was important to support the missionaries.

If you want to honor Annette, follow her example and be a blessing to others that really need it, we know that this would really please her. Annette no longer needs anything that this world has to offer. She will receive her reward in Heaven. Right now, she is dancing on the streets of gold and rejoicing and so glad to be free from all sickness, pain and sorrow and so very happy to see all her loved ones that went before her and most of all to meet her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Everyone who loved Annette should shout a big AMEN for her. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so, shall we ever be with the Lord. 

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Peggy J. Beverage, 85, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, at her home with her sister, Judy Cousins, by her side.

Born on Sept. 18, 1938, in Burlington. She was the beloved daughter of Francis Leo and Alice Marie Weinheimer Drewer, and proud sister to Patricia Buck, Gary Drewer, Willa McCannon and Judy Cousins.&nbsp;

On Oct. 28, 1972, she married the love of her life, Charles Norman Beverage. They shared a wonderful life until his passing on May 29, 1999. In addition to her husband, Peggy is preceded in death by her daughter, Diana, parents, her sister Patricia Buck, two brothers Gary &amp; Bill Drewer, and grandson, Justin.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Miller of Omaha, Neb.; two sons, Tim (Beth) Beverage of Taylor, Pa., and Tom (Kristen) Beverage of Claremore, Okla.; as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Peggy also leaves behind her two sisters, Willa (Larry) McCannon of Oakville and Judy Cousins of Burlington. Peggy dedicated much of her career to the meat department at Hy-Vee and later at Baker Foods, where she worked until her retirement. She was known for her strong work ethic and quick wit.&nbsp;

Peggy was a member of Spring Grove Methodist Church, where she was lovingly known as Thelma from the infamous Thelma and Lousie duo of Burlington. When she wasn’t dodging the police at the church, she could be found enjoying life’s simple pleasures, such as solving puzzle books and watching WWE or having dinner at the Mississippi Cafe. She loved gardening, spending time with her family, and sharing stories from her youth, always bringing laughter and memories of days gone by.&nbsp;

Family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St. Burial will take place at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Hancock, IA.&nbsp;

She loved her grandkids and great-grandkids and spending time with them. Survivors include her son, Mike (Dana) Monge of Fort Madison; two daughters, Ketina (Pete) Mitchell of Ozark, AL, and Tracy (Duane) Goudge of Kelso, WA; step-daughter, Dawn (Darrell) Triano of Patterson, CA; 15 grandkids; 17 great-grandkids; sister, Gracie Mae (Dale) Davis of Silverton, OR; son-in-law, Chuck Marsh of Miles City, MT; and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn Paige, 78, of Burlington, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington. Born April 2, 1946, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arthur G and Thelma Anderson Swanson. On June 21, 1969, she married Robert Paige in Monmouth, IL. He died on June 9, 1983.&nbsp; She started dating Jerry Downer in January of 1985 and that turned into a 7 year loving relationship until his death on August 25, 1992. She attended and graduated from Burlington High School in 1964. Marylin worked in the offices of different truck lines for 44 years and at Doran for 20 years. She played golf when she was able to and liked playing cards. She loved the river and the 35 years she lived at Lake Stevenson. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ but did also attend other churches through the years. Survivors include her brother Robert "Bob" (Linda) Swanson; Bob's only son, Kirk's wife Susan Swanson; 14 of the Paige and Massner nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Ron (Diane) Paige; sister-in-law Retha; and many great wonderful friends especially Sue Webb and Nancy Simms. She was preceded in death by her husband, her partner, Jerry Downer, her parents and her nephew Kirk Swanson. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. Jeanette "Jan" Roberts, 71, of Burlington, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington with her family by her side.

Born May 1, 1953, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of David E. and Wilma L. Colvin St. Clair. Jan met Gary Roberts at Hannibal LaGrange in 1973. The rest was history after meeting in history class. On July 12, 1975, they were wed in Kahoka, Mo.

She was a 1971 graduate of Clark County High School in Kahoka, Mo. She obtained an Associate Degree from Hannibal LaGrange and a Bachelor's degree from Truman State University.&nbsp;

Jan was a teacher in Council Bluffs and Oakville/Wapello for around 7 years before the birth of her children, after which she became a full-time mother.&nbsp;

Jan was a member of Harmony Bible Church and she volunteered for Hetta Gilbert. Jan LOVED all things flowers &amp; gardening. Sharing her knowledge of flowers brought her happiness. She loved her family fiercely. Playing games, cookie day, making Gamma's famous vegetable soup and spoiling her grand babies was her life.&nbsp;

Jan was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. She baked them for all occasions, even shipping them to family friends across the US. She was also a huge supporter of the SCC Blackhawks basketball team and hosted several international players that have become lifelong friends.

Survivors include husband, Gary Roberts of Burlington; two daughters, Megan (Alan) Kleinkopf of Middletown and Elizabeth (Justin) Long of Burlington; and four grandchildren, Brooke and Ayden Long and Gracelyn and Cade Kleinkopf.

She was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp;

Paul Lester Beckman, 92, of West Burlington, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024, at his home.

Born June 14, 1932, in Prairie Grove, he was the son of Lester and Esther Beckman. He attended Flint River School and was a 1950 graduate of Danville High School and a graduate of Wartburg College.

He served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

He married Lois Taeger on June 10, 1956, at Prairie Grove Church, she passed away March 13, 2022.

Paul worked as an electrician for BNSF Railroad and was a life long farmer. He served for on the Prairie Grove Cemetery board and was the sexton of the cemetery for many years. He was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, square dancing, playing bingo and cards and bowled well into his 90’s. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and never missed a Sunday NASCAR race. Above all, farming was his passion.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Neal of Woodward, Iowa; three grandchildren, Matt (Sabrina) Neal, Alison (Grant) Henry and Paul (Angela) Neal; eight great grandchildren, Blake Neal, Michael Neal, Eve Henry, Margot Henry, Griffin Henry, Kort Henry, Coy Henry and Gus Neal; four sisters, Phyllis Small, Lois Roelfs, Marilyn Brown and Lavonne Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Lois, son-in-law Mike Neal and brothers-in-law Leonard Lane, Norman Roelfs and Ted Small.

The funeral service for Mr. Beckman will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 3 at Peace Lutheran Church, rural West Burlington. Pastor James Zuehls will officiate. Burial will be held in Prairie Grove Cemetery, rural West Burlington. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday.

Gary Wayne Lennie, 78, of Burlington, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at Azria Heath Prairie Ridge Azria Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mediapolis.

Born Aug. 2, 1946, in Albia, he was the son of Lester and Grace Lennie. He married Luanne Marzeck on April 30, 1977, in Burlington. She preceded him in death Oct. 17, 2014.

Gary worked for I.A.A.P. in production for over 40 years.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Kimberly) Lennie of Danville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Dixie Chapman of Oskaloosa, and nieces and nephews, Bernard Chapman, Vonnie (Jeff) Patterson, Kevin (Cassie) Chapman, Alan (Pam) Chapman and Andrea (Brian) Jacobsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Luanne.

According to his wishes, there will be no services. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Barbara Jo Kokjohn, 84, of Pontoosuc, Ill., died Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at the Montrose Healthcare Center in Montrose.&nbsp;

Barb was born March 21, 1940, in Carthage, Ill., the daughter of Arthur Ray and Lucy Pauline Admire Walker. She married Gary Harryman Sr. He preceded her in death. Later, she married Leonard Dennis Kokjohn. He also preceded her in death.&nbsp;

Barb was raised and educated in Dallas City. She worked numerous jobs, including Sheaffer Pen, Sylvania and retired from Methode. She enjoyed flowers, riding horses, animals, especially cats and was fan of Elvis Presley.&nbsp;

Survivors include one sister: Georgia (Dick) Pardall of Franklin, Iowa; one brother: Tom (Nancy) Walker of Pontoosuc, one daughter-in-law: Caroline Harryman; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend: Patty Gilpin.&nbsp;

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons: Gary Harryman Jr. and Darrin Harryman; one daughter: Valerie Benge; one grandson and a brother: Denny Walker.&nbsp;

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2024 at Harris Cemetery, near Dallas City with Rev. Jim Luder officiating.&nbsp;

Russell Joe Harris, 62, of Burlington, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals &amp; Clinics in Iowa City.

Born June 18, 1962, in Burlington, Russ was the son of Robert and Dana Alter Harris.

Russ enjoyed being outdoors, whether that was bird watching, riding his scooter or just relaxing. &nbsp;He liked woodworking and would make beautiful pieces for his family. &nbsp;He never passed up an opportunity to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play. &nbsp;He loved his family; his daughter and granddaughter meant the world to him. &nbsp;He loved spending time with Sandler and riding bikes with her around the neighborhood. &nbsp;Russ' kindness will be missed, but his memory will live on through his family and friends.

Russ' family include his daughter, Samantha Harris; siblings, Pam (Jim) Lowry, Rick Harris, Randy (Michelle) Harris, Lori (Doug) Coakley and Ryan (Misty) Harris; granddaughter, Sandler; and numerous nieces and nephews. &nbsp;Sadly, he has been preceded in death by his sister, Connie Vaughan; and parents, Robert and Dana.

A graveside service for Russ will be held at 10 am on Saturday, Aug. 31st at the Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery (10993 115th Ave., Burlington). &nbsp;A celebration of life for Russ will be held at a later date.

Mary Ann Castle, 71, of Burlington, died Aug. 20, 2024.&nbsp;

Mary Ann Castle was born on Dec. 7, 1952, in Charles City, to Bernard "Spitz" and Susie Monroe. She grew up in Charles City but moved to Nebraska and Texas before returning to Burlington. She was a "homebody" and lived the majority of her life in Burlington.

She was a devoted nurse spending her entire career caring for those in long-term care centers.

Mary has several children and grandchildren. Her children, Danielle Castle (Wayne Green), Nathan Castle (Wendy Castle), and Michelle Castle (Joe Shaffer) ache the loss of their "Momsie" but know she is watching from above. Her grandchildren Katelyn, Cael, Breyen, Addison, Avery, Oliver and Remington will miss their "Crazy Grandma's" joyful play and silliness. Her great-grandchild Asher will miss the love and affection of his great grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Leah, brother Greg, and bonus grandchild Tyren Swank. She leaves behind her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother (Joe Monroe), brother-in-law (Ron Stuart), niece (Mark and Lisa Schaefer), nephews (Andy Stuart and Scot Stuart), and many friends.

Mary did not know a stranger. She was so blessed to have bonus kids and grandkids. Her love will continue to touch Heidi and Danny Swank and their children Tailor, Morgan, Raven, Jaden and Keagan.

Mary is so loved, is deeply missed, and will always be with us. And we know she is worrying about us and taking care of us as best she can, just from afar now.

Celebration of life will be Friday, Aug. 23, 2024 at Lunning Funeral Chapel from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a lunch at the 40 &amp; 8 Park to the left of the Bee's Stadium.

Linda S. Mason, 80, of Burlington, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at Addington Place in Burlington.

Born Sept. 4, 1943, in Champagne-Urbana, IL, she was the daughter of William Franklin and Emily Nadine Wooderson Senn. On May 31, 1963, she married Ronald Wayne &nbsp;in Macomb, Ill. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2017.

She was a graduate of Macomb High School in Macomb, Ill.&nbsp;

Linda loved horses, whether just seeing them or riding, even up to about a year ago, they brought her joy. She loved animals of all kind, especially cats. She enjoyed knitting when she was younger, talking politics, and was a fan of the Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include her son, William Scott (Kellie) Mason of Burlington; two grandchildren, Ian Scott Mason and Aubree Renee Emily Mason; one brother, John Christian (Carol) Senn, IV; one nephew, Brian Mason; and three nieces, Jenny Senn, Terri Burnham, and Megan Mason.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; husband's nephew, Greg John; and husband's niece, Julie Aten.

There will be no visitation or services. She, along with her husband, donated her body to the University of Iowa for medical research.

She attended the New London Christian Church and&nbsp;&nbsp;worked for years as a cook for the New London Schools.&nbsp;&nbsp;She enjoyed reading, sitting outside, writing in her journal, Wordsearch puzzles, Hallmark movies, and anytime spent with family.

Ferneitta is survived by daughters, S. Jane (Rick) Salmon of West Burlington, Bonnie Vogeler of Mt. John Lane “Jack” Wilhelm,&nbsp;85, of Donnellson, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

He was born on Sept. 6, 1938, in New Boston, Iowa, the son of John S. and Mildred G. Smith Wilhelm. On July 12, 1959, he married Marjorie A. “Marge” Salter at New Boston Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Marge; sister: Bonnie Randolph of Fort Madison; brother: Barry Wilhelm of Bernice, Louisiana and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Donna Doyle and two brothers: Larry and Robert in infancy.

Jack was a 1956 graduate of Argyle Consolidated High School. He excelled in basketball and baseball. He served for six years in the Iowa Army National Guard Unit (Armored Division) as a tank driver and also served as a cook for his unit. Jack worked for ten years at Dryden Rubber Company/Sheller Globe as a pre-former and he worked for twenty-seven years at J.C. Hubinger Company/Heinz/Roquette America, retiring in 1992. Jack also farmed, raised cattle, hogs and Arabian horses. He was a member of the Donnellson United Methodist Church where he held various church offices over the years. He also served on the Argyle Memorial Garden Cemetery board for many years. He loved hunting as a young man and also enjoyed mushrooming, gardening, farming, traveling, reading, cooking and listening to music. Jack loved animals, especially his Arabian stallion “Bay Rafgez” and his special cat “Tiddly Winks”.

A visitation will begin at 12 noon, Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Nancy St. Clair officiating.

Burial will be at Argyle Memorial Garden, rural Argyle, Iowa, with a flag presentation by the Donnellson American Legion Gillaspey - Moodie Post #474.

John Lane “Jack” Wilhelm

Terry Perrenoud,&nbsp;81, of Donnellson, Iowa died Saturday, June 22, 2024, at his daughter Sheri’s home in Norwalk.

He was born on May 6, 1943, the son of Keith and Martha Newby Perrenoud. On June 26, 1964, he married Linda Shoemaker in Donnellson.

Survivors include his two daughters:&nbsp; Michelle (Jennifer Blanchard) Perrenoud and Sheri (Tony) Clemenson: five grandchildren: Isabelle and Margret Clemenson, Jacqui, Katie, and Garrett Blanchard: brother Mike (Betty) Perrenoud: sister Diana (Hank) Gerveler. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Terry was a 1961 graduate of Central Lee High School. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, grilling, traveling, playing cards and camping. He loved old cars, renovating and restoring homes, and landscaping beautiful gardens. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and so much fun to be with.&nbsp;

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at the Lee County Fair Learning Center in Donnellson.&nbsp; Please dress casually.&nbsp;

Memorials:&nbsp; Terry was a lifetime golfer.&nbsp; He loved the game.&nbsp; In his remembrance, the family is accepting donations for a bench and plaque to be placed at the golf course.&nbsp;

 </figure>Terry Perrenoud,&nbsp;81, of Donnellson, Iowa died Saturday, June 22, 2024, at his daughter Sheri’s home in Norwalk.He was born on May 6, 1943, the son of Keith and Martha Newby Perrenoud. On June 26, 1964, he married Linda Shoemaker in Donnellson.Survivors include his two daughters:&nbsp; Michelle (Jennifer Blanchard) Perrenoud and Sheri (Tony) Clemenson: five grandchildren: Isabelle and Margret Clemenson, Jacqui, Katie, and Garrett Blanchard: brother Mike (Betty) Perrenoud: sister Diana (Hank) Gerveler. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.Terry was a 1961 graduate of Central Lee High School. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking, grilling, traveling, playing cards and camping. He loved old cars, renovating and restoring homes, and landscaping beautiful gardens. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and so much fun to be with.&nbsp;A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at the Lee County Fair Learning Center in Donnellson.&nbsp; Please dress casually.&nbsp;Memorials:&nbsp; Terry was a lifetime golfer.&nbsp; He loved the game.&nbsp; In his remembrance, the family is accepting donations for a bench and plaque to be placed at the golf course.&nbsp;Schmitz Funeral Home of Donnellson is assisting the family with arrangements.&nbsp;

Mark Louis Fedler, 73, of Danville, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Ft. Madison on Oct. 26, 1950, to Edmund G. and Delores Elizabeth Spiekermeier Fedler.&nbsp;&nbsp;On Aug. 2, 1986, he married Barbara Kay Crouch at First Baptist Church in Danville.

He attended St. Mary Catholic Schools and graduated in 1968 from Marquette High School in West Point.&nbsp;&nbsp;He attended Indian Hills Community College in the culinary arts program following his Navy service.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mark joined the Navy Feb. 3, 1970 in Des Moines, Iowa where he was sent to boot camp in San Diego.&nbsp;&nbsp;He went to Steward School, served two years at Guantanamo Bay, then two years aboard an aircraft carrier where he was the Steward’s Cook.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was discharged Feb. 3, 1974.&nbsp;&nbsp;After high school, he worked at Freuhauf in Fort Madison for six months before enlisting in the service, then returned to Freuhauf after serving his country, then quit to go into law enforcement.&nbsp;&nbsp;He served the towns of Centerville, Columbus Junction, and Middletown, and retired as the police chief of Danville after twenty-seven years and nine months of service.&nbsp;&nbsp;During this time, he was also a cook at Jack Hamilton’s Supper Club.&nbsp;&nbsp;After retiring he drove a bus for the Danville school district and also worked in their kitchen, then drove a bus for the New London school district for four years.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting with Luke, Natalie and Hailey; in his earlier years spending time with his nieces and nephews; driving school busses; running the time clock for basketball games; and playing with his grand puppies Connor and Huxley.

He was a member of the Lion’s Club, Southeast Iowa Gas Engine Club, Casebine Credit Union Board of Directors and Danville City Council.&nbsp;&nbsp;He and his wife, Barb were inducted onto the Honor Wall at the Danville Hall of Fame in 2022.

Besides his wife Barb of Danville, he is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Luke) Parrott of Middletown; granddaughters Hailey Nicole and Natalie Corrine; siblings, Connie (Glenn) Ferrell of Fairfield, Pat Becker of Blue Grass, Kathy Hedger of Ft. Madison, Steve Fedler of Des Moines, John (Gina) Fedler of Mantua, Ohio, Mary (Kirk) Shannon of Stockport, Susie Gelsthorpe of Donnellson, Chuck (Kim) Fedler of New Haven, Indiana, Aggie (Bob) Anderson of Donnellson, and Tim (Shari) Fedler of Nokomis, Florida; brothers-in-law George Olsen of Sherman, Texas and Brian Humphrey of South Sioux City, Nebraska; aunt Lorene Fedler of West Point;&nbsp;&nbsp;mother-in-law Doris Crouch of Danville; sister-in-law Peggy (Doug) Fraise of Danville; brother-in-law John (Kerry) Crouch of Yarmouth; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and his fur-daughter “Miss Bailey”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Christine Olsen and Lori Humphrey; two brothers, Ted Fedler and Ed, Jr. Fedler; father-in-law Lester Crouch; brother-in-law Jerry Becker; sister-in-law Pam Fedler; and nephew Mike Hedger.&nbsp;

According to his wishes, his body has been cremated and a celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024 at Elliott Chapel, New London.&nbsp;&nbsp;Pastor Monte Knudson will officiate.&nbsp;&nbsp;The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
