Sandy Springsteen, 74, of Columbus Junction, died Saturday, March 14, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born February 5, 1952, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Robert Eugene and Maurine "Peg" Lawson. On July 3, 1999, she married Chester Lee Springsteen in Oakville.&nbsp;

She graduated from West Burlington High School in 1970.&nbsp;

Sandy enjoyed crafts, puzzles, baking and cake decorating, and she loved attending all of her grandchildren's events. She also loved attending Iowa Hawkeye women's basketball games with her sister, they were proud season ticket holders.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband, Chester Lee Springsteen; children, Adam (Vicki Ellison) Truitt of Mount Vernon, Aaron (Hilarie) Truitt of Mount Vernon, Scott (Robin) Springsteen of Mediapolis, Dawn (David) Shipman of Oakville, Kim (Lee) Kingston of Mountain Home, Ark., Diana (Eric) Vanderkooi of Piggott, Ark., Lisa (Nick Carlton) Springsteen of Piggott, AR; 11 grandchildren, Alivia &amp; Alaina Truitt, Kelsey Twinam, Hattie Garrison, Dalton Shipman, Kelsey Allbritton, Collin Kingston, Karlee Ryan, Zack Vanderkooi, Maddie Vanderkooi, Hayley Springsteen; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue (Jay) Runnells of Wapello; niece, Kristi (Paul Wagner) Lawson of Burlington; two nephews, Fritz (Jennifer) Runnells and Dan (Jamie) Runnels both of Wapello.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Sherry Elaine Smith Stewart, 79,&nbsp; died March 8, 2026, at 9:51 a.m. She was born in Burlington, on June 27, 1946, to Ann L. Thompson Smith and Archie O. Smith.&nbsp;

She was 1964’s Homecoming Queen at BHS and Burlington’s Miss July.&nbsp;

She was married to Phillip Stewart for seven years and they lived in Hawaii.&nbsp;

She worked for Schramms, BMC, Great River Medical Center and Taco Johns.&nbsp;

Being a faithful servant to God, Sherry loved reading the Bible and gave compliments to all whom she encountered.&nbsp;

As an animal lover, her last two pets were cats Piper and Cookie.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents, cousins Jerry L. Smith, Bruce Benedict, Janice Losey Fritz and Janet Losey Dobbs.&nbsp;

Sherry is survived by her best friends, Pamela George and Sharon Sorenson, cousins Henry H. Smith, Charlotte Losey Bray, Patricia Losey Young, Steven Losey, Pamela Fritz, Celeste Smith Luksetitch, and Melanie Fritz Knedler, and cousin-in-law, Cossette Smith, and other family and friends.&nbsp;

Brian G. Bulanek, 54, of Burlington, Iowa, died Monday, March 9, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born on November 12, 1971, in Houston, Texas, he was the son of Eugene and Elizabeth Zalesky Bulanek. On March 15, 2002, in Galveston, Texas, he married Deanna Gerst.

Brian graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in education. He worked as a history and special education teacher. He worked the majority of his life as an auto mechanic. Working on cars wasn’t work for Brian; it was something that he thoroughly enjoyed doing, especially when he could help others with their vehicles. He had a heart willing to help anyone. Whether it be vehicles, electrical, or any handyman project, Brian could fix it or build it. Strangers? He didn’t know any. He was a friend to everyone and could strike up a conversation and give big hugs. Brian was also a car enthusiast and a collector of many things. Of all things, Brian loved nothing more than to be with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Deanna Gerst of Burlington; two children: Karlee Dawn (Zane Greene) Bulanek of Crosby, Texas and Cody Gerst of Baytown, Texas; two grandchildren: Julian and Ellie Gerst; father Gene Bulanek of Crosby, Texas; brother: Daniel Bulanek of Crosby, Texas; father in-law Conrad Gerst of Mediapolis; sister in-law Linda Gerst of Burlington and two brothers in-law: Roy Gerst of Oakville, and Dan (Lisa) Gerst of West Burlington. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth and mother-in-law Roletta Gerst.

Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel. A private celebration of life will be held.

Per Brian’s request, he asked everyone to consider giving blood, platelets, or become an organ donor.

Roger S. Augsburger, 64, of Burlington, Iowa, died Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

Born on January 15, 1962, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Al and Shirley Dirth Augsburger. In 1982, he married Mia Martin, of that union, they had two children: Taylor and Bethany. They later divorced. He married Faylea McMillan and later divorced.

Roger was a 1980 graduate of Burlington High School and Southeastern Community College, where he obtained an associate's degree. He worked as an arborist his entire life and loved his line of work. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, and watching the Chicago Cubs play. Most of all, he loved being with his family.

He is survived by his four children: Taylor Augsburger, Bethany (Kelly) Morris, Dalaina (Tim) Burns, and Samantha (Matt) Osborne, all of Burlington; nine grandchildren: Addilyn, Gavin, Kaelen, Cheyenne, Alivia, Lily, Leila, Luke, and Timothy Jr.; one great-grandchild, Tinsley. Also surviving is a sister, Amber Augsburger of Burlington.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Melody Augsburger.

Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Devin Gene Blint, 62, of Danville, Iowa, died Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.&nbsp; Born on June 5, 1963, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Dale and Shirley (Hale) Blint. On July 30, 1988, at Harmony Bible Church, he married Traci L. Johnson.&nbsp;

Devin was a 1981 graduate of New London High School and was involved in football, wrestling, and baseball. He attended Southeastern Community College and graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in recreation administration. He worked for Young House Family Services and then for Iowa Works for 20 years, where he served as a Promise Jobs Advisor. Devin was a member of Harmony Bible Church in Danville, where he served as a team leader of security. Along with great leadership skills, he was also a great follower of Jesus Christ.

While his children were in school, he volunteered for the Danville Recreational Association. In his free time, he enjoyed deer and duck hunting with his son, brother-in-law and nephews. He was a family man who loved nothing more than being with his family, especially the grandchildren, who called him “Pops”. Sitting down playing, wrestling with the grandchildren on the floor, going for lawnmower rides, were a few of his favorite things to do with the grandchildren. His favorite holiday was Christmas.

Devin was on a fast-pitch softball team with his brother Duane. Together they made it to nationals back in the 90’s. He enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially the Minnesota Vikings.&nbsp;

Above all else, Devin was a selfless man. He worked hard at his job, and loved when he could help on the family farm, and would do anything for anyone, even doing the grocery shopping at Walmart.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Traci of Danville, three children: Brody (Morgan) Blint of Burlington, Shelby Blint of Danville, and Jaden (Colton) Scott of Burlington; three grandchildren: Easton Scott, Bridger Scott, and Marek Blint; siblings: Duane (Pam) Blint of New London, Iowa, Darcie Ann Avila of Phoenix, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Vicki Johnson.

The funeral service for Devin will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Harmony Bible Church in Danville. Burial will be held in Jagger Cemetery.

The visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Lunning Chapel in Burlington.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Survivors include his sister, Linda Kay Rainwater of Oquawka, Ill.; three nieces, Jessica McClaren, Sherrie Benedict, and Amanda McLain; one nephew, John Rainwater; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Donna Marie and Sherry Ann, and one brother, Donnel Rainwater Jr. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. Ronald Rainwater

Keith Donald Schulz (K. Don) of Burlington died on Monday March 9, 2026, at his home. Keith was born in Burlington on December 20, 1938, the only child of Henry Carl and Laura Iral (Boland) Schulz. In 1965, he married Ferne Van Dyck in Des Moines. They divorced in 1981. In 1985, he married Emily Brooks Roane in Wilmette, Ill. She died on December 26, 2017. Keith graduated from Burlington High School in 1956 and received a BA from the University of Iowa in 1960. Drums were a big part of his life in those years, and he played in the marching bands, the concert bands, the symphony orchestras, and a variety of jazz and blues bands. He was at the U of I when the Hawkeyes were superb, and he performed with the marching band in two Rose Bowl appearances (both of which they won handily). Upon graduating in political science, he attended the Graduate School of Foreign Affairs at George Washington University while working as a U.S. Capitol Policeman. He then returned to Iowa Law School, where he received his JD in 1963. Following law school, he joined the firm of Hirsch, Riepe &amp; Wright in Burlington and enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve. In 1965, he was appointed Deputy Secretary of State of Iowa in Des Moines and received a commission as a legal officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. After serving his term with the State of Iowa, he accepted a position in Chicago as Assistant Area Attorney for AT&amp;T. Chicago appealed to him so he avoided a transfer to New York City by accepting the position of General Counsel of Borg-Warner Acceptance Corporation, later moving to the parent company Borg-Warner Corporation where he became Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel, serving the company for 20 years until it was acquired in a hostile takeover.&nbsp; He then joined the law firm of Bell, Boyd &amp; Lloyd as a partner. While there, he wrote several articles published in the “Harvard Business Review” and the “Journal of Corporate Growth.” In addition to his day job, Keith was active, often in leadership, in several civic and professional organizations including the Economic Club of Chicago, the University Club of Chicago, the Chicago Bar Association and its Corporate Law Departments Committee, the Corporate Law Committee of the American Bar Association, the American Society of Corporate Secretaries, the Association of General Counsel, the Chicago Legal Services Foundation, the Chicago Metro Ethics Coalition, the Performance Community, Inc., and the Community Renewal Society of Chicago. Keith and his wife Emily Roane were active members of the Wilmette Congregational Church, where he served as chair of the Board of Trustees and was a founder of the Men’s Group. When Keith and Emily bought an old home in his hometown of Burlington, they began to spend much of their time there. After retiring from the law firm, he used Burlington as the setting for his novel, “Keepers of the River,” renaming the town ‘Bruders Landing.’ Nevertheless, its landmarks are recognizable throughout the story.&nbsp; In Burlington he also became active in several community organizations, where he also served in leadership, including the task force appointed to advise on the creation of the Downtown Development Plan, Downtown Partners, Inc., the Community Foundation of Des Moines County, Planned Parenthood of Southeast Iowa, the YWCA and YMCA, the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra Association, the Kiwanis Club, the Capitol Theater Foundation, The Heritage Trust Foundation, and Bike Burlington. Keith and Emily were members of Zion United Church of Christ, where they began the popular coffee hour with their friend Janet McCannon. Keith was an avid skier and loved tennis and bicycling, mediocre, but just good enough to enjoy them. He and Emily traveled worldwide, Keith for his work and both of them for pleasure. They were also able to take their children on a safari in Tanzania and bike trips in Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Later, Keith gathered his children and grandchildren together in the Greek Islands and Spain. He is survived by his son, Keith Jr. (Viet Ha) of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; daughter, Dr. Christine Schulz of Floressent, Mo.; stepdaughter Sarah Dandelles of Chicago, Ill.; stepson Stefan Dandelles (Geraldine Golay) of Evanston, Ill.; and eight grandchildren. Keith also cherished Emily’s family, especially her twin sister Katherine Roane, friend Pam Johnson, her brother Wilson Roane, and sister-in-law Sue Roane, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, a wonderful circle of friends, and his canine companion, the ever-popular Gabby.&nbsp; Keith died after elective spinal fusion surgery against the advice of loved ones, with the hope of taking on further adventures.  </figure>Keith Donald Schulz (K. Don) of Burlington died on Monday March 9, 2026, at his home. Keith was born in Burlington on December 20, 1938, the only child of Henry Carl and Laura Iral (Boland) Schulz. In 1965, he married Ferne Van Dyck in Des Moines. They divorced in 1981. In 1985, he married Emily Brooks Roane in Wilmette, Ill. She died on December 26, 2017. Keith graduated from Burlington High School in 1956 and received a BA from the University of Iowa in 1960. Drums were a big part of his life in those years, and he played in the marching bands, the concert bands, the symphony orchestras, and a variety of jazz and blues bands. He was at the U of I when the Hawkeyes were superb, and he performed with the marching band in two Rose Bowl appearances (both of which they won handily). Upon graduating in political science, he attended the Graduate School of Foreign Affairs at George Washington University while working as a U.S. Capitol Policeman. He then returned to Iowa Law School, where he received his JD in 1963. Following law school, he joined the firm of Hirsch, Riepe &amp; Wright in Burlington and enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve. In 1965, he was appointed Deputy Secretary of State of Iowa in Des Moines and received a commission as a legal officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. After serving his term with the State of Iowa, he accepted a position in Chicago as Assistant Area Attorney for AT&amp;T. Chicago appealed to him so he avoided a transfer to New York City by accepting the position of General Counsel of Borg-Warner Acceptance Corporation, later moving to the parent company Borg-Warner Corporation where he became Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel, serving the company for 20 years until it was acquired in a hostile takeover.&nbsp; He then joined the law firm of Bell, Boyd &amp; Lloyd as a partner. While there, he wrote several articles published in the “Harvard Business Review” and the “Journal of Corporate Growth.” In addition to his day job, Keith was active, often in leadership, in several civic and professional organizations including the Economic Club of Chicago, the University Club of Chicago, the Chicago Bar Association and its Corporate Law Departments Committee, the Corporate Law Committee of the American Bar Association, the American Society of Corporate Secretaries, the Association of General Counsel, the Chicago Legal Services Foundation, the Chicago Metro Ethics Coalition, the Performance Community, Inc., and the Community Renewal Society of Chicago. Keith and his wife Emily Roane were active members of the Wilmette Congregational Church, where he served as chair of the Board of Trustees and was a founder of the Men’s Group. When Keith and Emily bought an old home in his hometown of Burlington, they began to spend much of their time there. After retiring from the law firm, he used Burlington as the setting for his novel, “Keepers of the River,” renaming the town ‘Bruders Landing.’ Nevertheless, its landmarks are recognizable throughout the story.&nbsp; In Burlington he also became active in several community organizations, where he also served in leadership, including the task force appointed to advise on the creation of the Downtown Development Plan, Downtown Partners, Inc., the Community Foundation of Des Moines County, Planned Parenthood of Southeast Iowa, the YWCA and YMCA, the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra Association, the Kiwanis Club, the Capitol Theater Foundation, The Heritage Trust Foundation, and Bike Burlington. Keith and Emily were members of Zion United Church of Christ, where they began the popular coffee hour with their friend Janet McCannon. Keith was an avid skier and loved tennis and bicycling, mediocre, but just good enough to enjoy them. He and Emily traveled worldwide, Keith for his work and both of them for pleasure. They were also able to take their children on a safari in Tanzania and bike trips in Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Later, Keith gathered his children and grandchildren together in the Greek Islands and Spain. Katharine Sue Byers Sherwood, 89, of Springfield, Illinois, died&nbsp; Friday, March 6, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.&nbsp; Katharine "Kay" was born February 2, 1937, in Hale Township, Missouri, to Hugh and Dulcie (Godsey) Byers. She was the youngest of ten children. Kay graduated from Dallas City High School in 1954 and married Fred Sherwood on August 14, 1956.&nbsp; In 1962, Kay and Fred adopted their daughter, Denise. On October 3, 1970, Kay and Fred welcomed their son, Rase. Katherine "Kay" Sherwood

Thomas E. Mosena, 79, of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Burlington, died Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Ambassador Health Care Center in Fort Myers, Florida.

Born November 15., 1946, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Glenn and Lucille (Robinson) Mosena.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Burlington High School and served in the Iowa Army National Guard 224th Division from June 1965 until November 1972.

Tom was the owner/operator of Mosena Electric for over 50 years.&nbsp; He was of the Catholic faith.

He managed the Burlington Little League teams for 10 years and really enjoyed his time spent coaching.&nbsp; He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

He is survived by his two daughters; Heather Mosena and Suzanne (Brian) Rice both of Florida; two grandchildren, Brandon Rice and Morgan Rice; siblings, Daniel, Robert, Carolyn and Mary and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Shirley Brunken.

According to his wishes, cremation.&nbsp; A private burial will be held in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. &nbsp;

Born September 23, 1951, in St. Joseph, Missouri, she was the daughter of Edwin John Alfred and Beatrice Ruth (Akins) Broce.

She married Danny Davis on February 27, 1970, in Colorado.

Sharon was a homemaker. She had previously worked for Burlington Basket Company and Wendy's.

She is survived by her husband Danny Davis of Stronghurst, son George (Cherish) Davis of Davenport, siblings, Gary, Karen and Ruthie and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Bobbie Jo, two brothers Harold and Alfred and two sisters Elaine and Doris.

A private family graveside service will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

He worked for Shearers for 8 years and previously for C&amp;E before they closed.

He was a gentle person with a gentle soul.

He is survived by his daughter Dawn, sister, Connie Perez of Fort Madison and brothers Keith Sly of Oquawka, Illinois and Kevin Sly of Fort Madison.

There will be no formal funeral services. According to his wishes cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Born May 27, 1956, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Robert "Bob" E. and Kathleen "Kate" I. Lewis McGraw. On September 24, 1977, she married Gary L. Wood in St Patrick Catholic Church in Raritan, Ill.&nbsp;

She was a 1974 graduate of Union High School. &nbsp;

Patty worked in the cafeteria at Union, now known as West Central School, for more than 20 years. After her time at the school, she spent many years helping her husband run their home daycare, continuing her care and dedication to the children and families in their community.

She also served as the treasurer for the Village of Gladstone for over 20 years. Patty enjoyed making ceramics. Above all else, Patty cherished time with her family. Whether she was playing cards,spending time visiting, or cheering on her children at their sporting events, those moments together meant the most to her.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Wood of Gladstone; daughter, Katie (Jacob) Sinkular of Coal City, Ill.; four grandchildren, Emmarsyn Grace Wood, Makenna Paige Sinkular, Landon Wayne Sinkular, and Oakley Lee Sinkular; four siblings, Lewis (Tammy) McGraw, Donna K. Albin, Kathy (Randy) Grafton and Betsy (Scott) Cooper all of Gladstone, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Zachary.

Ronald Harvey Kienast, 72, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 11:48p.m. at his home.

Ron was born July 6, 1953, the son of Harvey Fritz and Zelda “Sam” Caroline Ehlers Kienast in Dennison, Iowa. He had been married to Donna Stewart, Susan Hummer, Margie Neff, and JoAngela Kiley.&nbsp;

Ron was raised in Burlington, Iowa and enlisted in the U.S. Army during his senior year of High School. He completed his schooling while stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Following his honorable discharge in 1974, he returned to the Burlington area. Shortly after, he began his 38 year career with Burlington Northern Railroad as a pipefitter.&nbsp;

Mr. Kienast was a jack of all trades; fixing and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. He used these skills to help family and friends with many projects. He was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion and was a past Cub Scout Leader.

Survivors include one son: Ryan H. (Christy) Kienast of LaHarpe; one daughter: Ashley Derby of Burlington, Iowa; four grandchildren: Haylee (Jacob) Slusher of LaHarpe, Hunter (Alison) Kienast of Loves Park, Illinois, Bryson Derby and Rylan Trail both of Burlington; one great-granddaughter on the way.&nbsp;

He is also survived by sisters: Vicki (Greg) Lee and Linda (Gary) Virgin and one sister-in-law: Kimberly Kienast, all of Burlington, Jami Inman-Bell of Gotha, Florida, Linda (Rick) Vargas of Independence, Missouri, Debbie (Tom) Wadden of Keokuk, Iowa, Alicia Haupt of Goofy Ridge, Illinois and Elaine (Tom) Rountree of Milan, Illinois; his brothers: Raymond (Sarah) Inman of Coal Valley, Illinois, Craig (Ann) Schmoldt and Trenton Blythe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his step-mother: Barbara Kienast of Cedar Rapids; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins, as well as his beloved dogs, Rocky and Bailey.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Harvey Kienast, mother, Zelda “Sam” Kienast Inman, &nbsp;step-father James Inman, sisters: Kristi Kienast (in infancy) and Lori Kienast, brothers: John Kienast, Donald Inman, Darrell Inman and sister-in-law: Juli Inman.

James D. Fidler, 74, of Burlington, died Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born on June 1, 1951, in Burlington, he was the son of Bernard “Bus” and Billye Bernice Baxter Fidler. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1969 and went on to serve in the U.S. Marines shortly after graduation.

In 1971, he married Gail Hartman, and they welcomed two children, Jason and Jody, before later divorcing. On April 18, 1981, he married Sherry Whalen at Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington.

Jim was a co-owner of Coast to Coast, now known as True Value, in Burlington until his retirement in 2004.

He was a member of the Shoquoquon Boat Club and the Cascade Boat Club. Jim had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping, spending time at the cabin, and fishing. He also treasured traveling and vacationing with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Fidler of Burlington; four children, Jason Fidler, Jody (Steve) Brown, Lisa (Dusty) Palmer and Lori (Brent) O'Donnell; eight grandchildren, Drake, Lauren. Shay, Ale, Justice, Zane, Jake and Brailey; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; step-sister, Peggy (Tim) Witt, &nbsp;former sister-in-law, Linda McConnell and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, Billye Hines, step-father, Cecil Hines, and two brothers, Danny Fidler and Tim Fidler.&nbsp;

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Research.&nbsp;

Kevin Scott Russell, 65 years old, of Burlington, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Following his passing, Kevin was able to give the gift of life through the Iowa Donor Network. Kevin was born on April 25, 1960, to Thomas and Sandra (Westerbeck) Russell in Burlington, Iowa. He was a Burlington High School graduate, Class of 1978. Following high school, Kevin completed a Machinist Apprentice Program at Murray Iron Works and took Machinist classes at Southeastern Community College.&nbsp; His career started with that apprenticeship at Murray Iron Works and later he worked at Champion Spark Plug/Tenneco as a Tool &amp; Die Maker for 38 years. He was a loyal Member of UAW Local 1237 throughout his career. He loved the group of Champion tool makers he worked alongside. Kevin and his father enjoyed working together for 30 years at Champion, the longest of any father/son employee working at the same time. While working a full-time job, Kevin also owned and operated Russell's Sharpening Shop for over 10 years.&nbsp; Kevin and Karen met in 6th grade and had mutual friends. They enjoyed lots of activities like school dances, going to Bees games, Ken's pizza and Putt n Cone. They were high school sweet hearts. He married Karen Sue (Schwarm) Russell on May 23, 1981. They were married for over 44 years and raised two daughters, Jennifer and Michelle. Left to cherish Kevin's memory are his loving wife, Karen, beloved children, Jennifer and Michelle, and granddaughters Marissa, Mia and Zoey Ohler. He is also survived by his mother, Sandy Russell, brother, Michael Russell, niece and nephew, cousins, and a tight-knit group of friends whom he considered family.&nbsp; Kevin maintained the same group of friends since high school, and for 23 years, they took an annual "Iowa Boys" trip in Indianapolis together. They were all very competitive in playing horseshoes. Kevin was the champ at "name that tune" with 70 &amp; 80's rock music. Those who called Kevin a friend had known and trusted him for most of his lifetime.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Russell, and his grandparents. Throughout his life, Kevin worked side-by-side with his father on endless projects, including building and remodeling homes, roofing, gardening, hunting, and more. Kevin helped his daughters with remodeling projects on their homes. Kevin enjoyed hunting deer and pheasants, with his well-trained German Shorthaired Pointer gun dogs. He maintained an enormous and immaculate garden and would share his tomatoes, potatoes, squash, and more with friends and family. Kevin and his granddaughter, Zoey, were close and he enjoyed teaching her how to drive his tractor, four-wheeler, side-by-side and quizzing her in math. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye wrestling. Despite being an avid Hawkeye fan, he proudly wore Iowa State shirts in support of his daughter Michelle for being an alumni.&nbsp; Kevin loved the outdoors and had a passion for conservation and wildlife. He took pride in his timber and did several preservation projects on his property with Des Moines County Soil &amp; Water Conservation District, Iowa DNR Forestry Bureau, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the National Wild Turkey Foundation.&nbsp; A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Conservation. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service. A Celebration of Life will be from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Drake in Burlington. Andrea C. Walsh, 75, of Burlington, died Friday, February 27, 2026, at her home in Burlington.

Born January 13, 1951, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Richard Donald and Edna Darlene Tilton Breuer. She first married Martin William Walsh on December 20, 1975 in Burlington.&nbsp;

Andrea began her career at Burlington Bank &amp; Trust and remained with the company when it transitioned to Hawkeye Bank. She later joined CPA Associates, where she worked for 16 years before retiring in 2011. After retirement, Andrea devoted herself to caring for her father, serving as his home health aide for many years.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, and tending to her flower beds. Andrea also loved spending time on the computer; playing games, watching old Johnny Carson reruns, listening to audio books, and learning new things. Above all, family meant everything to Andrea. She cherished camping trips with her husband and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Martin Walsh of Burlington; son, Philip (Maggie) Walsh of New London; two daughters, Lisa Kerns of Burlington, and Heidi Best of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Steven (Adrienne) Breuer of Orlando, FL; and sister, Jeanine (Mike) Ritchie of Tifin, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp;

The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Walsh will be 1:30 PM Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Aspen Grove Cemetery. &nbsp;Those wishing to attend the service, can meet us at her gravesite near the Sunnyside Avenue gate.&nbsp;

Beverly Louise Sowden-Sammons, 85, of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026.

Bev was born Oct. 29, 1940 to Gladys Fladt and Robert Sowden, who also had two other daughters, Donna Molnar and Barbara Hodson, both of whom are deceased.

In 1958 she married William Poland, Sr. &nbsp;They had three children; William Poland Jr., Bonnie Poland-Mizer and Robert Poland. &nbsp;They later divorced.

In 1966 she married Gary Sammons and had a step-daughter, Cindy Sammons-Jackson.

Bev was an active member of West Avenue Baptist Church since 1966. &nbsp;As for hobbies, she loved to travel just about anywhere. &nbsp;Bev's employment started at the age of 16 at the Mercy Hospital, then Midwest Biscuit, the Burlington School systems, Kleins and later retired from Conifer/Andrews Corporation in 2003.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; children, William (Jennie) Poland, Jr., Bonnie (Dale) Mizer, Robert "Bob" Poland, and Cindy (Dennis Jackson; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A private service was held with Reverend Dzawo officiating. &nbsp;Bev was laid to rest at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.

Maureen Kemp, 77, of Burlington, died Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at her home in Burlington, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

Born April 2, 1948, in Weehawken, New Jersey, the daughter of John and Doris (Divine) Mannion. &nbsp;On June 6, 1998 she married Dean Kemp in Troy, Montana.&nbsp;

Moe was a very talented and kind person. &nbsp;She was a great cook and owned several of her own restaurants. &nbsp;She later went on to work a variety of different jobs, including Community in Action and Midwest Eye Care. &nbsp;Moe had an eclectic mix of interests and hobbies, ranging from ballet to flight lessons. &nbsp;Her kindness and zest for life will be missed, but her memory will continue through all who love her.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Kemp of Burlington; daughters, Siobhan McNulty of Bend, Oregon, and Dannica McGrath of the Philadelphia area, Pennsylvania; step-children, Monica Kemp, Nakoa Kemp, Leah Virginia III Droze, and Aziel Kemp; thirteen grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen Morgan of Colorado, and Jeanne Weeden of California.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Colleen and Ellen.

Maureen Kemp

Trevor Scott Huss, 28, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born on February 21, 1998, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Almeda “Dottie” Huss and Joe Cale.

Trevor was a 2019 graduate of Burlington High School. He loved playing with his Elmo toys, singing, and dancing, going for golf cart rides, camping with family and friends, spending time at school, and participating in Special Olympics, which brought Trevor the most joy. He loved nothing more than his mother’s silly antics while driving and his obnoxious videos on his iPad. Trevor’s family was his entire world and safe place. He is survived by his parents Dottie Huss and Joe Cale of Burlington; brothers: Jerry Hall of Burlington, Jacob (Samantha) Carman of Winfield, Iowa, and Brayden Huss of Burlington; nephew Bo Carman of Winfield and niece Ja’Kiya Smith of Fort Madison; uncles Lloyd “Lloydy” Huss of Carman, Illinois, and Cecil Huss of Burlington; aunt Carol (Eric) Huss of Carman Illinois. He is also survived by several stepbrothers, stepsisters, cousins, and lots of friends.

The family would like to thank his caregiver, Gringer Grisham, who cared for him until the very end.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Lloyd “Jinx” Huss Jr., grandmother Marilyn Warren, and uncle Ricky Warren.

The funeral service for Trevor will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Lunning Chapel with Bill Ioeger officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends.&nbsp;

Burial will be held in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family requests that you come dressed casual in jeans and a t-shirt, just like Trevor would.

Eric Morrow, 38, of Burlington, died Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at his home.

Born September 13, 1987, in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Eric Morrow and Karen Strawhorn Shuler.

Eric was a jokester. He was funny, loving and outgoing and loved to be around people, especially his family and nieces and nephews. He loved playing basketball and was a huge Michael Jordan and Chicago Bears fan. He loved to dress the best and always enjoyed eating some pig feet.

He is survived by his son Eric Shuler; parents Eric Morrow and Karen (Eric) Shuler both of Chicago, Illinois; siblings, Ashante (Antron) Burnett, Tierre Morrow and Kerea Morrow and Curtis Veal who was like a brother to him; nieces and nephews, Trent Burnett, Taylor Burnett, Trelon Burnett and Trinity Burnett; aunts, Kinya Strawhorn and Tawanna Morrow; uncle Jerry Strawhorn and his favorite cousin Jayla Williams.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Laura Strawhorn and uncle Kenneth Strawhorn.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

A memorial has been established for the family.

Larry Lynn Wheeler, 75, of West Burlington, died February 25, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington. He was born in Burlington, Iowa, on July 19, 1950, the son of Jack and Doris Wheeler.

Larry was a 1969 graduate of West Burlington High School. Larry was a veteran, having served in the US Army. He worked at General Electric and then had a long and storied career as a law enforcement officer. Larry worked for the West Burlington Police Department, even serving for a short time as interim Chief. He then worked at the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office as a Sergeant.&nbsp;

Larry was an outdoorsman through and through. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, and turkey hunting, among other activities. Larry enjoyed a good meal, especially breakfast, with his fellow law enforcement retiree “breakfast club”. He also delighted in eating frog legs. Whoever enjoyed these meals with him was also sure to hear a story or two, as Larry always had a good one at hand.&nbsp;

Larry was known for his kindness, practicality, and sense of humor. He was quick to make a joke and tease all of those he loved. But he was also known for giving wise and straightforward advice. Larry’s kindness was especially shown by his lifelong dedication to taking care of his sister, Tammy.

Larry is fondly remembered by son, David Wheeler, of Lakeland, Fla., grandchildren Alanna, Jack, and Lily Wheeler, all of Lakeland, sisters Nan (Brent) Johnston of Kingwood, Texas, and Tammy of West Burlington, and many, many, special lifelong friends. Larry is also survived by his fiancée, Sheila Crowner, who was his constant companion over the past five years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Bert Wheeler.&nbsp;

According to his wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Lunning Chapel. Though no services are planned, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House and the Klein Center. Contributions can be sent to Lunning Chapel.

Sidney H. Amenell, 79, of Burlington, died Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Wapello Specialty Care in Wapello.

Born February 16, 1947, in Burlington, he was the son of Catherine E. Shortridge.

Sid graduated from Burlington High School before serving his country with the United States Navy.&nbsp; Sid went on to work for Alliant Energy for 42 years as a Plant Operator.

Sid enjoyed socializing with his friends over a few beverages.&nbsp; He had a sarcastic sense of humor and was a touch ornery.&nbsp; He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.&nbsp; He was quite a character and will be missed.

Survivors include his children, Matthew (Jenna) Amenell and Chris (Jennifer) Amenell; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and siblings, Timothy Dietsch and Molly Curry.

He was preceded in death by his mother; brother, Jerry Amenell; and sister, Susan Griffith.
