Richard P. Baker, 79, of Wever, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.

Born November 7, 1945, in Knox County, Mo., he was the son of Lorraine H. and Naomi L. Luke Baker. On November 30, 1964, he married Jeanne S. Boyle in Danville.&nbsp;

He graduated from Burlington High School in 1963.&nbsp;

Richard retired after 50 years working for the Millwright Local Union 2158.

He was a hard worker who loved the outdoors. The year he retired he and Jeanne went fishing every day that year. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne of Wever; son, Richard (Tammy) Baker of Ft. Madison; two daughters, Dawn (Ted) Greene of Phoenix, AZ, and Lori (Bill) Hetrick of Carman, IL; six grandchildren, Amanda, Brittany, Raquel, Brad, Katee, and Bailey; seven great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Dylan, Sophia, Mason, Naomi, Barrett and Bennett; one brother; two sisters; one sister-in-law; and one brother-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. with the family to receive friends on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The graveside service for Mr. Baker will be 3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 13, 2025 at Aspen Grove Cemetery. &nbsp;A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the burial.

Margaret Ann Parker, 89, of West Burlington, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born July 3, 1936, in New London, she was the daughter of Fredrick Donald and Minnie Rebecca Ruby Dietsch. On July 10, 1954, she married Louie Burdette Parker. He died Dec. 31, 2008.

She graduated from Harmony High School in Bonaparte.&nbsp;

Margaret worked for Fruehauf Inc. in Montrose for many years until her retirement.

She attended Bethany Lutheran Church. Margaret enjoyed sewing, tending to her flower gardens, feeding the birds and loved animals, caring for many strays. She loved spending time with her family.&nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Tim (Sue) Parker of Fort Madison, Trudy (Larry Jr.) Wright of Fort Madison, and Twila (Larry) Nall of Bolingbrook, IL; six grandchildren, David, Jeannie, Lawrence, Trinity, Ken, and Nikki; nine great-grandchildren, Jade, Jinta, Declan, Eli, Noah, Ava. Finnley, Odin and Ember and significant other, Larry Olsen of West Burlington.&nbsp;

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Paul and Donald Dietsch, and sister, Edith Jenkins.

Terry Eldon Garmoe, 49, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Genevieve R. Brown, 91, of Wever, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at the Birkwood Village of Fort Madison in Fort Madison.

Born March 11, 1976, in Monmouth, Ill., he was the son of Mark Eugene and Deborah Lynn Remick Bowman. On Aug. 21, 1994, he married Alicia Dawn Byers at Crapo Park in Burlington.&nbsp;

He graduated from Burlington High School in 1994.&nbsp;

Terry worked as a cable and broadband installer for 13 years. He also worked as a mechanic with his father at Bowman's Automotive.

Terry enjoyed playing golf, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and boating. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR and was a member of Abate 18 club. He was an excellent cook and had mastered the art of BBQ. He was a standup guy with a huge heart. He had a wonderful, deep voice that could soothe even the fussiest of babies. He was an excellent storyteller and enjoyed talking to everyone. The most important thing to him was family. He was a wonderful husband. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and he held a special place in his heart for his dog, Thor.

Survivors include his father, Mark Eugene (Kelly) Bowman, Sr. of Burlington; wife, Alicia Dawn Garmoe of Burlington; four daughters, Samantha (Deonte) Thompson of Davenport, Winter Garmoe of Las Vegas, Nev., Sierra Garmoe and Kylie Garmoe both of Burlington; son-in-law, Will Hill of Fort Madison; eight grandchildren, Michael, Selena, Hunter, Isabella, Jaxon, Logan, Luke, and Everly; &nbsp;three brothers, Mark (Jo) Bowman, Jr. of Burlington, Clyde Farmer of Tipton, and Phillip Cox of Burlington; four step-brothers, Alan "Mikey" (Krystal) Stevenson, Jessie Stevenson both of Burlington, Jamie Stevenson of Carman, Ill., and Drayton Stevenson Bowman of Burlington; many loved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandma, Pat; his mother, Deborah; daughter, Terry "Tara" Hill; step brother, Joshua Stevenson; step-sister, Kelli Stevenson; and aunt, Dawn McDowell.&nbsp;

Rosemary Diane Luchner, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St., Burlington, Iowa, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa, will follow the service.

Rosemary was born Oct. 10, 1935, in Burlington, Iowa, to Frederick Emmert Rowe and Nellie Florence Purcell Rowe. She married Henry Stephen Luchner on December 27, 1954, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Burlington, Iowa. Throughout her marriage, she lived in many places to include Maryland, New Mexico, Germany, Massachusetts, Alabama, Iowa, Virginia, and Illinois.

Rosemary was a devoted wife and mother. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was always involved in her children’s lives and was often ferrying them to scouting, sporting matches, and church events.

She worked as an office administrator for Dr. Rollin Perkins in Davenport, Iowa, and was a business partner in Green Care/Turf Tenders Lawn Care Services in Enterprise, Alabama.

Rosemary had many interests. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, she was an active member of the Army Officers Wives Club, she loved to play bridge and canasta, and to do puzzles. She and Henry loved to spend time traveling in their motor home, especially to follow genealogy leads all around the country, and she passed the time by knitting and crocheting.

Rosemary is survived by her children Rebecca (Mark) Dawson, Stephen (Janice) Luchner, Michael (Daynee) Luchner, Timothy (Lori) Luchner, Thomas (Suzy) Luchner, Mary (Blaine) Wagner, Matt (Annette) Luchner; her sister Sharon Green; twenty grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Preceding her in death was her husband Henry, her brother Keith Rowe, and her sister Glenna Mehaffy. May they Rest in Peace.&nbsp;

Memorials have been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Alta Louise Garrels Dockendorff, 102, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of&nbsp; Danville, died&nbsp; October 6, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She was&nbsp; born September 11, 1923, in rural Mt. Pleasant, to Roy and Edna Scarff&nbsp; Garrels. On June 2, 1943, she married Glenn Edward Dockendorff at the&nbsp; Mt. Union Methodist Church; he died February 22, 2018. Mrs. Dockendorff was a 1941 graduate of Yarmouth High School and then&nbsp; worked at the New London Creamery. Initially, when Glenn joined the&nbsp; Army, Alta joined him in Paris, Texas, where he trained, and she worked&nbsp; in the laundry on the base. Once Glenn was shipped overseas, Alta worked&nbsp; for the Glove Factory in New London. Later, she worked as a homemaker;&nbsp; worked as a drug picker at McKesson Robbins; was employed at the Farm&nbsp; Service Elevator in Danville, and kept the books for Glenn’s Stanley&nbsp; Steemer business. She was a member of the Danville Methodist Church.&nbsp; After her husband’s death, she moved to assisted living in Omaha, Nebraska. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Charles) Overley of Omaha,&nbsp; Nebraska, and Kay (David) Wulf of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and&nbsp; nine great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was&nbsp; preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ellen Runnells; two brothers,&nbsp; Roger and Ronald Garrels; and two sisters, Erma Mertens and Blanche Allen. Alta Louise Garrels Dockendorff

Robert Kracht, 79, of Danville, took his last angel flight on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Allure of Lake Storey Care Facility in Galesburg. Born July 19, 1946, in Burlington, he was the son of George Wendell and Ellen Elizabeth Bliss Kracht. On April 25, 1969 he was married to Laura McNeill and they later divorced. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving as an aviation fuel specialist during the Vietnam War from June 9, 1964 until June 7, 1968. Robert was a janitor for Danville Schools. Robert loved being outdoors and always enjoyed hunting and fishing. His most cherished memories though. were any time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Kracht of Fort Madison and Billy (Carrie) Kracht of Cassville, Mo.; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ken (Dianne) Kracht of New London. He was preceded in death by his parents and his ex-wife, Laura. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. There will be no visitation or services. Charlene Clark, 90, of Burlington, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born November 9, 1934, at home in Henderson County, Ill., she was the daughter of Rex and Esther Lachmann Mynatt. On February 21, 1953, she married Orren William Clark at Ft. Sill in Lawton, Okla. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2020.

She graduated from Stronghurst High School with the class of 1952. Charlene worked in inspection at Champion Spark Plug for 30 years.

Charlene enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing and playing cards. She was a frequent shopper at garage sales and resale shops. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include her son, William "Bill" Clark of Burlington; daughter, Vicki (Robert) Dunlap of Woodhaven, Mich. three brothers, Richard "Sonny" (Betty) Mynatt of Denmark, Iowa, Keith Mynatt of Laguna Vista, Texas, and Larry (Karen) Mynatt of La Harpe, Ill.; one sister, Carolyn "Babe" Bez of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one daughter, Renee Sandy; one brother, Rex A. Mynatt; and one grandson, Garrett Sandy.

Dolores Loretta Bishop Markey, 86, passed away peacefully in the company of family and listening to her favorite music on October 2, 2025. Born on a farm near West Point, Iowa, on March 23, 1939, raised in Franklin, Iowa, to George Leslie and Barbara Denning Bishop, the eighth of eleven children.&nbsp;

She attended Franklin Independent School K-8, then Donnellson High School, where she graduated 1956. She went for one year of college at Keokuk Community College. &nbsp;

Survived by seven children: &nbsp;John Matthew (Pam), Maureen (Eric Higdon), Lydia, Michelle (Brian Butler), Mia (Eric Stuckey), Molly (Michael Shamashkin), Margie (Zack Snyder); eighteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Bette Thompson (Jim); and one brother Dale Bishop (Beverly).

Preceded in death by her parents, three brothers (George, Wesley, and Steve), five sisters (Rosalie Bishop, Ruth Farrell, Arleta Bishop, Marge Gunn, and Flo Bishop) and husband John (March 31, 2014).&nbsp;

Dolores was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City, Ill. She served as Religious Education coordinator and CCD teacher for 21 years and was president of the Altar and Rosary Society twice. She was secretary of the PTO for 5 years, volunteered at the library for several years, was a member of the site committee for the new grade school in 1975, served as Girl Scout troop leader three different times, co-chaired the parade committee for the 125th celebration of Dallas City, was co-chairman of the Sacred Heart Church Centennial Celebration 2008, and served as Election Judge for Durham Township for many years. She worked outside the home a few times at the Lomax Canning Factory, Mobile Health, and at Casey’s as the donut lady. But her main job was wife, mom, and grandma. She was her husband John’s chore girl, both for hogs and cattle. After John retired in 1992, Dolores considered them very blessed in that they enjoyed almost 21 years more in a second honeymoon. They chored together, built fence together, cut wood together, and did housework together. She loved going on the 4-wheeler with John all over their farm and their son’s farm, taking care of the cattle. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, playing cards, and visiting children and siblings. She enjoyed making quilts for their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She made wedding and first baby quilts for all of her ‘Markey’ nieces and nephews—all 41! She embroidered sets of dish towels for her children and grandchildren as well. &nbsp;

A time for sharing memories will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City; followed by visitation with the family until 11:00 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage, Illinois, with Fr. Tony Trosley as Celebrant. Delores Markey

Raymond Paul DeRosear,&nbsp;77, formerly of Primrose, Iowa, succumbed to rapid onset dementia at 7:38 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids. He was born on June 30, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the eldest of three sons born to Verle Vincent and Edith “Jane” DeRosear. As a toddler, he and his parents relocated to the Farmington, Iowa area. He attended school in Farmington and graduated in 1966 from Harmony High School.

While still in high school, Raymond enlisted in the United States Army Reserves and was discharged in 1975. In 1968, he began studies at Iowa State University in Ames. It was there that he met his soulmate, Paula Joyce Davis on a blind date. They were married on May 30, 1970, in Ames and remained married for over fifty-five years. In 1971, the couple moved to Primrose, Iowa, in order for Ray to join his father in his electrical contracting business. He became a master electrician eventually taking over the business upon Verle’s retirement. A serious fall in 1987 forced him to close this chapter of his life. Not one to sit idle, Ray returned to college, eventually establishing a building construction business which he operated until the late 1990s. At that time he was hired by Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa to develop and teach a building trades program. Ray loved working with his students and became friends with several over the years. In 2010 he retired from teaching to devote more time to hobbies and family.&nbsp;

He and Paula traveled extensively for many years with their campers. In 2019, they sold their acreage and became full time RVers for nearly six years until his health intervened.

Living to cherish his memory are his wife: Paula of Urbana, Iowa; daughters: Jennifer (Ricky) Clay,&nbsp; of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Anne (Scott) Selberg of Urbana, Iowa; granddaughter: Olivia Limas; grandsons: Spenser Limas (Lyndsey Payden) Vincent Clay and Liam Clay; great granddaughter: Charlie Ray Limas. Also surviving are his brothers: Ronald (Linda) of Farmington, Jeff of Colfax, Wisconsin and several cousins and nieces.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; son: Pyter James at birth and beloved granddaughter: Alyssa Delaney Limas.

His body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Living Center West for the loving care given to Raymond in the few months he was there.

A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Pilot Grove Savings Bank Community Room in Donnellson, Iowa.

Jacqueline Ann "Jackie" Johnson, 93, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Klein Center.&nbsp;

Born October 16, 1931, in Burlington, Jackie was the daughter of John A. and Dorothy Mary Detthof Dailey. On August 10, 1957, she married Hugh Rush Johnson, who preceded her in death in 2008.

A graduate of St. Paul's High School, Jackie attended Clarke College and the University of Iowa, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in arts in 1953. Professionally, Jackie served as a speech therapist, substitute teacher, and survey researcher for Per Mar.

Jackie’s family was her highest priority and greatest joy. From celebrating 51 years of marriage with her beloved husband, to supporting her children’s activities (and their menagerie of pets, including Ranger the Raccoon and Jackie’s favorite dog Teddy), to enjoying time with her grandchildren, Jackie embraced family life with enthusiasm. Known throughout the neighborhood for her boisterous calls to dinner, Jackie’s abundant laughter likewise knew no bounds, particularly when she got to laughing with her beloved sisters.

Jackie actively participated in several organizations, including Divine Mercy Parish, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Legion of Mary, Des Moines County Historical Society, Questers, Shakespeare Club, and Friends of the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra, where she previously served as a member of the board.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She also enjoyed reading and traveling in the United States and abroad. Notably, Jackie traveled to Europe as a young adult, visited her daughter in Paris and London as well voyaged to Ireland, Fatima, and, at the age of 89, completed a pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Throughout her life, Jackie maintained relationships with her childhood friends, sorority sisters, and friends from Davenport and Burlington, many of whom spanned the generations.

Jackie’s strong faith offered her comfort and refuge. She prayed not only for herself and her family but for all those who needed prayers.&nbsp; Her unwavering faith and, no doubt, continued prayers for her loved ones are a great source of comfort for her family.&nbsp;

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Maureen Ann Johnson of Sutton, NH; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Johnson Morrissey of Marion, IA; granddaughter, Courtney (Keoni) Johnson Koch of Springville, IA; grandson, Dailey (Taylor) Johnson of Madison, WI; four great-grandchildren, Leon and Loni Johnson and Peyton and Ronin Koch; sister, Joanne Bauer of Burlington, IA; sister-in-law, Eileen Johnson Prochelo of Sioux City, IA; and many beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Hugh D. Johnson; brother, Jim Dailey; sister, Mary Dorothy Knott; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be Friday, October 24th from 12:00 (noon) until 5:00 p.m.. &nbsp; Following a rosary at 5:00 p.m., the family will receive friends until 7:00 p.m., at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be on Saturday, October 25th at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Rev. Father Michael T. Phillips as the Celebrant. Timothy “Tim” Aaron Weyls Sr., 68, of Burlington, died Sept. 29, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice. 

Tim was born on September 29, 1957, in Lafayette, Indiana. He was the son of Ed and Betty Weyls. Tim graduated from Burlington High School with the Class of 1975. Tim married Regena Brunk in 1979; together, they had one son, Timothy Aaron Weyls, Jr.; they later divorced. Tim then met Darsi Hodgkin, and together they had one daughter, Madisyn Lynn Weyls.

As a young man, he worked at several Burlington establishments such as the Starlight Room at Pzazz. He spent time working in Phoenix, AZ at The Pointe Resort as a Banquet Manager which inspired his business ventures when he returned to Burlington. Tim owned Weyls Marina Restaurant. He also worked construction - working many years with Raymond Smith Construction.

Tim loved hunting, being out on the river, and his dogs. He had many loving dogs throughout his life, notably Blazer, Brutus, Sunny, Princess, and Mia. Tim especially looked forward to the annual hunting trip with his cousin Mark Weyls and their time spent on Weyls Mountain. Tim loved his family and friends - he enjoyed spending time with them, sharing stories, and making&nbsp;them laugh. He had a great sense of humor, which stuck with him until the very end.

Tim is survived by his son, Timothy (TJ) Weyls Jr, his daughter, Madisyn Weyls, his grandson, Taytum Jayy Weyls, and his sister JoDee (Weyls) Rangel as well as several cousins, nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews.

Tim’s family would like to thank Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice for their care and the many doctors and nurses that have helped Tim through the past 15 years of battling cancer.

A celebration of life will be held at Doris’s Tavern on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m.

John William Smull, 87, died peacefully on September 28, 2025 at Southeastern Iowa Hospice House, surrounded by family.&nbsp;

He was born &nbsp;January 31, 1938 in rural Moscow, Iowa, the son of Willard and Dorothy “Gretchen” (Birkhofer) Smull. He spent his early childhood years in Muscatine.

The family moved to Arizona and John attended Tuscon High School. &nbsp;It was there that he met his high school sweetheart Edna Marie Sherman. After graduation they married on June 8, 1957 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Muscatine. They were married 68 years.&nbsp;

John earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona, where he played collegiate football. He completed his master's and specialist degree's in secondary administration at the University of Iowa.

John began his career as a teacher at Burlington High School. He taught history and coached football and wrestling. &nbsp;He transitioned into administration and became the vice principal at Apollo, later transferring to James Madison Middle School. He retired after working 30 years with the Burlington Community School District.&nbsp;

John had a special talent working with middle school students. &nbsp;He was very involved with developing them to their full potential. He taught through example, how to live with honor and how to work hard. &nbsp;He strived to be a positive role model to every child he coached or taught.

He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, the Eagles Club, the University of Iowa Alumni Association and University of Arizona Alumni Association. John also served on the Foster Care review board. He was very proud to serve in this capacity making a difference in children's lives. &nbsp;

When John retired he pursued his passion for golfing, playing cards, and meeting the guys for breakfast. John valued his friendships and enjoyed spending time with his buddies. &nbsp; He always put his family and friendships first. He took great pride in his children and his grandchildren's activities and &nbsp;accomplishments. He was a great husband, father, friend and son. John's loving spirit will forever be missed and remembered.

Survivors include his wife, Edna; three sons, Scott (Deb), Kevin (Amy), and Sean; three grandchildren, Samantha, Christopher, Madeline; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie, Ashley, Aiden; niece; Janice (Mike) Shuger; sister in-law, Audrey Burke; brother in-law, Walter (Mary) Sherman; sister-in-law, Sondra Smull; and many nieces and nephews.

John was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Delores Ziegenhorn; brother,Willard Jr.; nephew, Christopher Smull; and brother in-law, William Burke.

The memorial service for John will be 10:30 AM on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Christ Episcopal Church, 623 N 5th Street, Burlington, with Father Carl Mann officiating.

Lance Shultz, 41, of Burlington, died Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born February 28, 1984, in Burlington, he worked for several years at Case Manufacturing. &nbsp;Lance was quite handy and very outgoing. &nbsp;He was resilient, assertive, and always knew what he wanted.

Survivors include his daughter, Addison Shultz; aunt, Tanya Hagerman; and cousins, Alexis, Joshua, and Richard.

Lance is preceded in death by his mother, April Shultz; and grandfather, Frank Shultz.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Beverly A. Johnson, 87, of Burlington, Iowa, died Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.

Born on April 8, 1938, in Tripoli, Iowa, she was the daughter of Carl and Lezetta (Dohrman) Struck. On June 2, 1957, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, she married Bruce Johnson. He preceded her in death on September 6, 2003.

Beverly was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ, and was a part of the church’s women’s group. She also sat on the Friedenheim Community Council. She worked at H&amp;R Block for 34 years, before she retired. Beverly loved to collect bells and giraffes. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling on different leagues. Beverly and Bruce loved to travel across the country together. One of their favorite places to visit were the white sands of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Beverly dearly enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud to be called “Gigi” by all of her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two children: Scott (Linda) Johnson of Kirksville, Missouri, and Pamela (Bobby) Nash of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter-in-law Becky Johnson of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren: Taylor (Kim) Johnson of Olathe, Kansas, Justin Bohlen of Burlington, Ashley (Josh) Vance of Montgomery City, Missouri, Amber Bohlen of Ely, Iowa, Ashlie (Jeremy) Reyes of East Moline, Illinois and Alison (Blane) File of Calona, Illinois; siblings: Larry (Joan) Struck of Tripoli, Iowa and Sandra (Fred) Hildebrandt of Griswold, Iowa and brother-in-law Bill Lange. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Perry Johnson, sister Betty Struck, sister Carla Lange; brother &amp; sister in-law Charles (Betty) Struck.

Per her wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.

The visitation for Beverly will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends. Gwendolyn Barbagiovanni, 87, of Burlington, Iowa, died at her residence on Monday afternoon September 29, 2025.

Born on April 5, 1938, in Stronghurst, Illinois, she was the daughter of Cleophus Charles Corley Sr. and Alice (Hoyak) Corley.

&nbsp;Gwen was a graduate of Burlington High School. On February 6, 1981, at St. Paul Catholic Church, she married Santo L. “Sam” Barbagiovanni. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2015.

Gwen was a homemaker, a member of Divine Mercy Parish, and a past board member of The Salvation Army. She also enjoyed cross-stitching, reading (including history books), and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include; two daughters, Lana (Dr. Timothy) Anderson of Bristol, TN, and Susan Haynes of Burlington, Iowa, one son, R.K. “Kirk” Lucas of Lafayette, Ind.; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and her loving cat Simba.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Karen Waldrop, two son-in-law’s, George Haynes and James Waldrop, great-grandson Tatum Ross, five sisters, and two brothers.

A special thank you to Sister Peggy Duffy, Sister Kathy Braun. Another special thank you to Susan Haynes, Brian Ross, and Julie Lucas, who were her caregivers for her in the last few years of her life, allowing her to stay in her home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church of Divine Mercy Parish with Father Jacob Greiner as the Celebrant. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

She was born on September 9, 1930, on the family farm in rural Farmington, the daughter of Grover and Hazel (Grimm) Rohdy. On September 4, 1949, she married Jewell E. “Bud” Jury in Primrose, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2025.

She is survived by her children: Carol (Keith - dec.) Knight of Coromandel Valley, South Australia, James (Ann) Jury of Farmington, Iowa, Mary (Bob) Dodds of Montrose, Iowa, Joseph (Debbie) Jury of Ingalls, Kansas, Timothy (Janet) Jury of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert (Yvette) Jury of Iowa City, Iowa; twenty grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister-in-law: Alice Rohdy and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bud; son-in-law: Keith Knight; siblings: Ruth, Dale, Helen, Bob, Charles, Jeane and Don.

Betty was a 1948 graduate of Donnellson High School. Following high school she received normal school training. Before she and Bud were married, she worked at Sheaffer Pen Company and the Farmington Creamery. She was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women (PW). She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of PEO, past president of the Harmony music boosters, a 4-H leader, Cub Scout den mother and American Red Cross volunteer. Betty enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, traveling and was dedicated to the family farm.

Friends may call after 12:00 noon, Friday, October 17, 2025, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.&nbsp;

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Sharon Presbyterian Church in rural Farmington, with Pastor Katrina Bergman officiating.

Emmie Mae Hudson became our guardian angel at 8:20 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Emmie gave us a lifetime of love in just one hour.

Cheri Lynn Yaley Mayfield, 63, passed unexpectedly on August 7, 2025, in Stockholm,&nbsp;Sweden, while on a vacation with her husband. She was born on October 24, 1961, in Fort Madison, to James and Linda K. Yaley. Cheri grew up in Denmark, Iowa, and graduated from Fort Madison Senior High in 1980. After receiving her B.A. in Behavioral Sciences and Communication from Grace College, she went on to earn a Master’s in Biblical Counseling from&nbsp; Grace Theological Seminary. Cheri married David Mayfield on October 2, 1993, in the Jeanne Vail Chapel at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.&nbsp; &nbsp; After living in Dallas and Richardson, Texas, they moved to New York&nbsp; City in 1997, where they resided. &nbsp; Cheri, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and New York, enjoyed a career in private and church counseling and as a customer agent for Delta Airlines.&nbsp; She was a member of Redeemer Church in New York City.

Cheri&nbsp; loved music and was actively involved in the choir and as a soloist at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Plano, Texas. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and parents to new places, cooking, and serving creative meals. She was a devout Christian with a generous spirit who showed kindness to all, coming home frequently to visit her family and friends. Cheri was a blessing to her husband, family, and friends as she assisted others,&nbsp; arranging and traveling to medical appointments, often sending health supplements as gifts. Cheri enriched the lives of all who knew and loved her and she will be greatly missed but present in our hearts.

Cheri is survived by her husband, David Mayfield; father, James “Jim” Yaley; two brothers,&nbsp;Dave Yaley (Cindy Dinwiddie) and Larry (Anne) Yaley; nephews: Eric (Ashley) Yaley of Fort&nbsp;Madison, Brandon (Jessica) Yaley of New London, Cory (Jessica) Bohnenkamp of&nbsp;West Point, Iowa, and Jason (Jamie) Bohnenkamp of Denmark, Iowa; nieces: Sarah Yaley of&nbsp;Burlington, Kayla Bohnenkamp of Montrose, and Shawna (Zeke) Ross of Fort&nbsp;Madison; brother-in-law, Joe Bohnenkamp; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Beverly Jean Griggs, age 87, of Washington, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, surrounded by her family at the United Presbyterian Home.

Beverly was born June 19, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence Elder Smith and Vertie Klopfenstein.&nbsp; She grew up in Mount Pleasant and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1956.&nbsp; Beverly pursued an Associate of Science degree from Burlington Junior College and then attended Burlington Hospital School of Nursing, graduating from both in 1959.

On February 14, 1961, she married Allen Wayne Griggs.&nbsp; After the wedding they made their home farming in rural Washington, Iowa.&nbsp; Together they shared a loving marriage until her passing.&nbsp; She is survived by husband Allen.&nbsp; They raised four children, Cherry (Steve) Klein, Donald (Melody) Griggs, Ed (Susan) Griggs, and Faith (John Beckman) Griggs.&nbsp; Beverly was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother - cherishing her eight grandchildren – Ashley (Deepmoy) Ghosh, Cheyenne Griggs, Megan (Jonathan) Wiese, Nolan Griggs (Zoë Antoine), Dayton Griggs (Kelso Messerschmitt), Haley Griggs (fiancée Ryne Larson). Penelope York and Elliot York, and six great-grandchildren – Haddon Wiese, Judah Wiese, Aarav Ghosh, Owen Wiese, Aria Ghosh, and Knox Wiese.&nbsp;

Beverly dedicated her life to loving her family and caring for her community.&nbsp; She worked as an RN at Burlington Hospital, Henry County Memorial Hospital, Washington County Hospital, Halcyon House, REM, and Washington County Hospice.&nbsp; She later worked for Iowa Ag Statistics, Welcome Wagon, Curves, and Planned Parenthood.&nbsp; She was an “Avon lady” for many years. She was actively involved with her family and church activities as a 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher and volunteer for Public Health. She was also a Master Gardner that loved looking at flowers and watching for birds.

Her greatest joys came from simple acts of love – remembering friends’ and family’s days of celebration (all captured on her calendar that hung above the phone), gardening, weaving, and attending craft fairs with Allen, and traveling to see her children.&nbsp; Those who knew her will remember her kindness and compassion. A woman of deep faith, Beverly was a member of The United Methodist Church and The West Chester Community Church. &nbsp; A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Patricia Winheim,&nbsp;79, of Keosauqua, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Keosauqua Health Center.

She was born on September 19, 1946, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Carmen (Murphy) Dearing. She married George Winheim.

She is survived by her husband: George; son: Eric (Carrie) Winheim of Libertyville, Iowa; four grandchildren: Pearl, Gretta, Patrick (Samantha) Winheim, Christian Douthart and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pat was a graduate of Fort Madison High School. She graduated with honors from the University of Iowa majoring in English and Spanish. She taught for fifty years at Harmony, Aquinas, Marquette and Holy Trinity High Schools. Pat was a champion quilter. She was very meticulous with her quilting creations and her pieces were highly appraised. Pat was known as a saint to her students, family and friends.

Her body has been entrusted to the crematory of Schmitz Funeral Home for cremation.
