Kenneth John Almendinger, Jr., 80, of Burlington, died at 3:25 AM Sunday, May 8, 2022, at his home.

Born November 6, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of Kenneth John and Pauline Melba Peterson Almendinger Sr. He married Bettie Jean Ford. They later divorced.

Kenneth graduated from Burlington High School in 1962. He lettered in track, baseball and football.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He worked at his father's TV repair business then drove for Hostess/Wonder Bread for 26 years before retiring.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kenneth met with a group of classmates once month for a class reunion. He enjoyed fishing, camping and duck hunting. Kenneth was always able to make people laugh and loved spending time with his family.&nbsp;

Survivors include one son, John Almendinger of Burlington; three daughters, Kim (Kevin) Long of Burlington, Trina Menken of Riverview, Fla., and Kendra (Sean) Brockett of Valrico, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Natasha Long, Zackery Almendinger, Tyler Almendinger, Nikki (Jeff) Grim, Randi Almendinger, Dillon Long, Hunter Menken, Ashton, Carson, and Holton Brockett; one great-grandchild, Adalee Almendinger; one sister, Mary Granaman of Burlington; one brother, David Almendinger of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Cheryl Almendinger and his great-granddaughter, Alexis Long.&nbsp;

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

Mary Jane Allen, 68, of Burlington, died Friday, May 6, 2022, at her home in Burlington.

Born August 5, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of Arthur J, and Florence R. Plummer Oleksiak.

Mary worked at Champion Spark Plug for many years as a machine operator. Following her employment at Champion, she worked for Hy-Vee in Burlington for many years.

Mary enjoyed golfing, bowling, crafts, gardening, baking, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son, Christopher Scott (Mindy) Allen of Katy, Texas; five grandchildren, Caleb and Josh Allen, Seline, Stacy, and Auri Sieu; one sister, Suzette Oleksiak of Stow, Ohio; and two brothers, Arthur J. Oleksiak, Jr. of Chesterland, Ohio, and David Oleksiak of Toledo, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Joanne Szych, and two brothers, Jerome and John.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. A Rosary service will conclude the visitation at 7:00 PM.

Earlene Lanell Weiss, 69, of Burlington, passed at 1:30 PM Friday, May 6, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals &amp; Clinics in Iowa City.

Born November 9, 1952, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Earl Roscoe Davis and Darlene Doris Stark and Step-Father, Kenny Hayden. On August 1, 1981, she married Brian David Weiss at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Burlington, IA.&nbsp;

She graduated from Keokuk High School and then attended and graduated from the Burlington Beauty Academy.&nbsp;

Earlene was a hairstylist for over 48 years working for many salons over the years. She worked at The Hairdressers for many years and most recently Chic's &amp; Guys.&nbsp; She loved her work and loved each of her customers as family.

She enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and finding bargains at thrift stores. She loved all animals and liked to feed the raccoons at her house.

Survivors include her husband, Brian David Weiss of Burlington, IA; two sisters, Darla (Rick) Fader of Anamosa, IA, and Aletha (Roger) Vradenburg of Keokuk, IA; one step-brother, Monte Hayden of TX; her mother-in-law, Dana Weiss of Burlington; two brothers-in-law, Brad (Juli) Weiss of Burlington, and Mark Weiss of Burlington; one sister-in-law, Laura Weiss of Burlington; and 13 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents &amp; step-father, one sister, Delta Vradenburg, one niece, Doris Burk, and one father-in-law, James Weiss.&nbsp;

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Marjorie J. Stratton, 97, of West Burlington, died at 7:30 PM Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born June 1, 1924, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Elijah E. 
and Beda Bjork Granaman. On January 9, 1959, she married Eugene "Jake" 
Herbert Stratton in Burlington. He died on October 14, 1991.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and VFW Auxiliary. She 
enjoyed playing BINGO, watching re-runs on TV and spending time with her
 family.

Survivors include many great-nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, 
Thomas and Willard "Bud" Granaman; and seven sisters, Melva "Toots" 
Statter, Ona "Sis" DeVilbiss, Lela "Lee" Wakefield, Pauline "Polly" 
Noble, Grace Peterson, Ruth Smith, Leola "Winky" Hallgren.

Joshua Harry Saldeen, 75, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on May 4, 2022. Joshua Saldeen was born August 19, 1946, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Harry and Phyllis(Hatman) Saldeen. Joshua graduated from Burlington High School, Burlington, Iowa in 1964. In 1993, he married Myrna Lynn Burr in Burlington, Iowa. Joshua was a USMC Vietnam Veteran, Honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant with medals for National Defense Medal, Navy Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Champaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and Navy Achievement Medal. Joshua then attended Iowa Wesleyan College and earned a Bachelor of Science with honors in Life Science with Math and Physics. Joshua then taught school at Marquette, Notre Dame, and Dallas City Elementary in Dallas City, Illinois. Joshua also worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe as a crane operator. Joshua attended Grace Bible Church, Dallas City, Illinois. He was an avid outdoorsman and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 59 years. He was an Assistant Ranger and Field Sports Director at Camp Eastman. Survivors include his wife Myrna, 3 daughters Annjanette (Patrick Sr.) Moyers of Oquawka, Illinois, Suzanne (Brian) Grisham of Lomax, Illinois, and Lora (Mike) Gittings of Lomax, Illinois, 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 brother Dan Saldeen of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1 sister Susie (Bill) Johnson of Mason City, Iowa, several nieces and nephews. And good friends Dick Lox, Dave Swanson, and Scout Master Andy Anderson. Sandra L. Wilkins, 81, of Burlington, died Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the 
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
 Born November 22, 1941 in Farmington, she was the daughter of 
George Henry and Edith Elizabeth Rings Watson. She was a 1959 
graduate of Burlington High School.
 She worked for the Benner Tea Company from 1959-1963 and the Abex 
Corporation in California before returning to Iowa in 1978. After 
returning to Iowa, she worked for Folk Equipment, Fox Appliance, Patrick’s True Value in Wapello, and Burlington True Value until her 
retirement.
 She attended New Fellowship Christian Church and enjoyed gardening, 
playing the accordion, knitting, and spending time with her 
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
 Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Patrick of Burlington; six 
grandsons, James Patrick Jr., Joshua Patrick, Tyler Payne, Matthew 
Patrick, Justin Patrick and Brian Patrick; six great grandchildren, 
Paislee, Braxton, Teagan, Hadley and Archer.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter and a son both 
in infancy, her sister Donna Richardson and nephew Steve Richardson.

 2022, at OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.

Born June 11, 1920, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Paul and 
Sarah (Richards) Smith. On November 4, 1939, she married Robert Henry 
Gerdner in Burlington. He died on January 23, 2012.

Helen and her husband were owners of Bob's Stagecoach Inn for 30 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Eagles Club 
and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed crocheting and watching TV.

Survivors include one son, Donald (Donna) Gerdner of Burlington; 
one daughter, Marjorie Miller of Bloomington, Ill.; five grandchildren, Neal 
(Stacey) Gerdner, Ron (Tabitha) Gerdner, Christina Reese, Carrie (Eric) 
Fisher, Michael (Jennie) Miller; ten great-grandchildren, Austin 
Gerdner, Landon Gerdner, Katelynn Gerdner, Olivia Gerdner, Skylar 
Gerdner, Jordan Reese, Tyler Fisher, Zac Fisher, Everett Miller and Eli 
Miller; and two step great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband of 72 years, she was preceded in death by one 
brother, Harry Smith, one son-in-law, Marvin Miller, and one grandson-in-law,

Helen S. Gerdner

Rhonda Sue Coughlan-Peterson, 54, of Dallas City, Ill., died on Friday, April 29, 2022, in Burlington.

Born November 27, 1967, in American Fork, Utah, she was the daughter of Ron and Donna DiCicco Coughlan.&nbsp;

She graduated from Kearns High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1985.&nbsp;

Rhonda was of Catholic faith. She was a vibrant, funny, and outgoing 
person who people loved to be around. An avid lover of unicorns, the 
color purple, and carrot cake. She enjoyed spending time with her family
 and grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her boyfriend 
and two dogs, she was definitely an animal lover. Rhonda was a good 
friend, wonderful sister, daughter, and mother. When she was younger she
 enjoyed ice skating, listening to country music, and hanging out with 
friends. Rhonda also enjoyed Rock music, doing puzzles, and watching 
some of her TV shows like Naked and Afraid. She was a wonderful cook and
 has always enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include her mother, Donna Coughlan of St. George, Utah; two 
daughters, Natia Marie Peterson of Burlington, and Natasha Kay Peterson

 </figure>Rhonda Sue Coughlan-Peterson, 54, of Dallas City, Ill., died on Friday, April 29, 2022, in Burlington.Born November 27, 1967, in American Fork, Utah, she was the daughter of Ron and Donna DiCicco Coughlan.&nbsp;She graduated from Kearns High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1985.&nbsp;Rhonda was of Catholic faith. She was a vibrant, funny, and outgoing 
person who people loved to be around. An avid lover of unicorns, the 
color purple, and carrot cake. She enjoyed spending time with her family
 and grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her boyfriend 
and two dogs, she was definitely an animal lover. Rhonda was a good 
friend, wonderful sister, daughter, and mother. When she was younger she
 enjoyed ice skating, listening to country music, and hanging out with 
friends. Rhonda also enjoyed Rock music, doing puzzles, and watching 
some of her TV shows like Naked and Afraid. She was a wonderful cook and
 has always enjoyed the outdoors.Survivors include her mother, Donna Coughlan of St. George, Utah; two 
daughters, Natia Marie Peterson of Burlington, and Natasha Kay Peterson

Bill E. Palmer, 79, of Burlington, died at 10:19 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

Born July 15, 1942, in Burlington, he was the son of William Earl Palmer and Marian F. Ertz Stout.&nbsp;

He was a 1960 graduate of Burlington Notre Dame High School.&nbsp;

Bill worked 27 years for J. I. Case Co. in production of the skid loaders, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. He was a very involved member
 of the Boy Scouts of America and was the Scoutmaster of Troop 3. He 
especially loved camping, and enjoyed volunteering at Camp Eastman for 
many years. He was a member of Knight of Columbus Third Degree and 
United Auto Workers Local 807.

Survivors include one brother, Richard K. (Loretta) Palmer of 
Burlington; one step-sister, Sarah (Brian) Sink; one niece, Amy (Travis) Baker; 
two nephews, Chad (Dena) Palmer and Dusty (Lisa) Palmer; and seven great-nieces 
and nephews, Ale' and Clayton Graham, Shay (Anne Glasgow) Palmer, Carly 
and Mia Baker and Macklyn Palmer.&nbsp;

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Friday, May 13, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Jack Williams, Jr.

Edwin L&nbsp;Bowman, 85, of Burlington, died at 3:34 PM on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Southeast Regional Hospice House.

Born on February 12, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of 
Chester A. and Stella Marie Stimpson Bowman. On February 15, 1958, he 
married Betty L. Peterson in Reno, Nev. They just celebrated their 64th 
wedding anniversary this past February.

He graduated from Stronghurst High School in 1953.

Edwin served in the military 1957 to 1959. Based at Ft. Collins, Colo., 
then Ft. Ord, Calif., and later at Ft. Richardson, Alaska, where he was a 
fireman.&nbsp;

Ed worked at Murray Iron Works, IAAP as a guard, then joined the fire 
department there. After that, he became a member of Steamfitters, 
Plumbers Union Local 212, which changed to local 125. He attended Tulsa 
Welding school. He loved his job as a welder.&nbsp;

Ed loved his family, dogs, wildlife, and his hobby of raising some of 
the best Pensom Rollers around, never introducing other rollers into his
 flock. He belonged to the Pensom Roller Club, National Birmingham 
Roller Club, Central II Pigeon Club and SE Iowa Pigeon Club.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Bowman of Burlington; two 
daughters, Carole A. (Howard) Whitcomb of Marshalltown, and Mary L. 
Wallace of Canton, Ill.; three granddaughters, Kyrie (Harsha) Edla 
of Bloomington, Ill., Victoria (Zack Nemmers) Whitcomb of West Des Moines, and Taylor Wallace of Canton, Ill.; one grandson, Nicholas (Riley) 
Whitcomb of Sioux City; one great-grandson, Shivaji Edla of 
Bloomington, Ill.; three brothers, Steve Bowman of Carman, Ill., Phillip 
Bowman of Dallas City, Ill., and Chester E. Bowman of Dallas City, Ill.; one
 sister, Diane Bowman of Kirkwood, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Kate Cartwright and Linda Weaver.

 She was a lifelong follower of Christ and delighted in sharing her 
faith journey with others. She also enjoyed cooking, crafting and 
gardening. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
 
 Survivors include her husband, Gary of Burlington; two sons, Jared of 
Burlington and Joel (Hadley) of West Des Moines; two grandchildren, 
Harper and Callum; one brother, Larry (Mary) Dodds of Burlington. 
 She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dr. Jason W. DeJaynes; one sister, Marilyn; and one sister in infancy.

Roberta DeJaynes

Matthew "Matt" O’Keefe, 54, of Chicago, Ill., died unexpectedly 
April 22, 2022, due to an auto accident near Bonaparte. Born 
August 6, 1967, he was the son of Thomas and Judy Ittershagen
O’Keefe. &nbsp;Originally from Monroeville, N.J., the family moved to 
Burlington in 1979.&nbsp; Matt graduated from Burlington Community High
 School in 1985 as valedictorian, and went on to earn his B.S. in 
Computer Science at University of Illinois at Chicago in 1997, 
graduating #1 in the College of Engineering.&nbsp; After graduating, he had a
 very successful career as a technologist, beginning his career at the 
start of the Internet boom. His first position was Senior Software 
Engineer for ZEFER/Neoglyphic.&nbsp; He went on to become Chief Technology 
Officer at Hyatt. &nbsp;He was most proud of his work on ERMA and Graphite, 
two open-source projects that were pioneers in real-time intelligence 
and complex event processing. &nbsp;In his last position, he worked as Senior
 Director of Architecture at Aetna (a CVS Health Company) where he led 
successful innovative teams using the latest cutting-edge technologies. 
Matt subsequently pursued his dream of opening a French Restaurant in 
Fairfield and owning/operating an organic farm. Matt shared his 
extensive knowledge, expertise, and insights giving presentations to 
large audiences at tech and industry conferences and authored articles 
in industry publications.&nbsp; He brought the same boundless drive and 
enthusiasm to the restaurant project he had started in Fairfield.&nbsp;

While in high school, Matt became competitive in cycling.&nbsp; As a teen, 
he rose quickly to category two, winning numerous races, including the 
challenging Snake Alley Criterium. He spent time at the Olympic 
Training&nbsp;Center in Colorado Springs, where he narrowly missed making the 
Junior Worlds Team.&nbsp;He maintained friendships throughout his life with 
his Burlington team, The Cyclery, and became involved in racing again as 
an adult in Chicago on the XXX/Athletico team, which became Burnham 
racing. He won quite a few Cat 4 and 5 races, including Downers Grove&nbsp;IL 
(2004) CAT 4 winner in the National Criterium Championship, and won the 
Quad Cities (2004) Criterium CAT 4.&nbsp; He was once able to do his warmup 
ride for a cycling race while taking a work-related outage call on his 
phone, coding, and riding as he went!&nbsp; Matt was also proud to be a bike 
marshal for numerous Chicago marathons.&nbsp;

While in school, Matt taught himself bass guitar and joined a 
Burlington based band called Nu World Mutant,s and later Barking Spiders,
 making several recordings and videos with the bands.&nbsp; Music has always 
been one of his main interests and he stayed in touch with his band mates.&nbsp; He continued this interest while attending the University of
 Iowa, where he met his wife, Lisa Dowd O’Keefe.&nbsp; They moved to 
Chicago, married, and both shared a love for travel, fine dining, 
reading, and enjoyed their cats and dogs.

Traveling for business and pleasure took Matt all over the world ,
from Finland to Sardinia, from India to China, and many places in 
between.&nbsp; In the last year of his life, he was able to revisit some of 
his most beloved places: Paris (where he saw the Tour de France finale),
 San Miguel de Allende, Mexico,&nbsp;and New Orleans. He loved taking photos 
on those trips, exploring other cultures, and trying local foods.&nbsp;&nbsp;He 
visited Ireland, the birthplace of his grandparents several times, and 
was proud to honor them by obtaining Irish dual Citizenship in 2017.&nbsp; 
He kept in touch with family and his many friends on social media, often
 sharing photos of favorite dining experiences from his travels and some
 very unique photos of architecture in Chicago.&nbsp; In the past year, 
combining several of his interests, he was beginning to record drone 
videos set to his own experimental music.

Matt was an extraordinary person but very understated about his many 
achievements.&nbsp; He lived life to the fullest and was loved by friends and
 family for his sense of humor, his genuine caring, his unique 
personality, and gusto.&nbsp;

He was preceded in his death by his parents.

Survivors include three
 brothers, Tom (Christine) O'Keefe, Jr. of Boykins, Va., Brian (Donna) 
O'Keefe of Swampscott, Mass., Chris (Ronda) O'Keefe of West Point; and 
one sister, Marianne Kemerling of Peoria, Ill.&nbsp; He was married to Lisa 
O'Keefe, who he met in college. Their marriage lasted over twenty years, 
but their friendship endured until he died.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Prugh Crematory.

Chicago, married, and both shared a love for travel, fine dining, 
reading, and enjoyed their cats and dogs.Traveling for business and pleasure took Matt all over the world ,
from Finland to Sardinia, from India to China, and many places in 
between.&nbsp; In the last year of his life, he was able to revisit some of 
his most beloved places: Paris (where he saw the Tour de France finale),
 San Miguel de Allende, Mexico,&nbsp;and New Orleans. He loved taking photos 
on those trips, exploring other cultures, and trying local foods.&nbsp;&nbsp;He 
visited Ireland, the birthplace of his grandparents several times, and 
was proud to honor them by obtaining Irish dual Citizenship in 2017.&nbsp; 
He kept in touch with family and his many friends on social media, often
 sharing photos of favorite dining experiences from his travels and some
 very unique photos of architecture in Chicago.&nbsp; In the past year, 
combining several of his interests, he was beginning to record drone 
videos set to his own experimental music.Matt was an extraordinary person but very understated about his many 
achievements.&nbsp; He lived life to the fullest and was loved by friends and
 family for his sense of humor, his genuine caring, his unique 
personality, and gusto.&nbsp;He was preceded in his death by his parents.Survivors include three
 brothers, Tom (Christine) O'Keefe, Jr. of Boykins, Va., Brian (Donna) 
O'Keefe of Swampscott, Mass., Chris (Ronda) O'Keefe of West Point; and 
one sister, Marianne Kemerling of Peoria, Ill.&nbsp; He was married to Lisa 
O'Keefe, who he met in college. Their marriage lasted over twenty years,

Rosemary Agnes Friedman, 91, of Burlington, died at 6:10 AM Tuesday, 
April 26, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West 
Burlington.

Born August 22, 1930, at home in Hancock County, Ill., she was the 
daughter of Lawrence G. and Rosa C. Thele Anderson. On July 24, 1951, 
she married Raymond L. Chevalier. They later divorced and he passed in 
1999. On October 4, 1995, she married Warren W. Friedman in Burlington. 
He died on August 25, 1996.

She owned and operated Rosalee's Shoe Repair for many years, and worked factory jobs as well.

She was of Catholic faith. She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, and
 taking care of her cats, her last one being, Fluffy. She loved her 
family deeply, and always looked forward to birthday parties for the 
grandkids, and seeing everyone together.

Survivors include two sons, Charles (Dawn) Chevalier of Burlington, 
and Kenneth Chevalier of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Linda Snowden 
of Burlington, and Janet (Peter) Wernicke of Rapid City, S.D.; nine 
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret (Paxton) 
Lowery of Miami Beach, Fla., Jane F. Crawford of Brighton, and Carol; 
and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, David; 
one sister, Catherine; and three brothers, Paul, Leo and John.

Visitation for Rosemary will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday, May 6, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The memorial service for Mrs. Friedman will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 
6, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home, with Fr. Dennis Hatungimana

Royal Charles Timmerman, 88, of Burlington, died Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at his home.
 Born June 12, 1933, in Burlington, he was the son of Clifford and Esther McKibben Timmerman. 
 He was a member of Salvation Army church.
 Royal served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He 
married Joann Marie Ross on September 11, 1954. She died January 20, 
2018.
 Royal was a millwright and worked maintenance at J.I. Case for 23 years retiring in 1990.
 He was a member of the V.F.W. and the U.A.W. local 807. Royal 
enjoyed working on his cub cadet lawnmowers. Most of all he loved his 
grandkids.
 Survivors include his sons Brian Timmerman of Texarkana, TX, Brad 
Timmerman of Burlington and Mark Gibbs of Broken Bow, OK; grandchildren 
Jessica (Mike) Shively of Ohio, Chief Warrant Officer Kimberly Timmerman
 stationed in Puerto Rico with the Coast Guard, Royal Timmerman of 
Texarkana, TX, Makayla Timmerman and Braden Timmerman of Roseville, IL; 
two great grandchildren Davina and Bindi Timmerman.

Royal Charles Timmerman

Betty June Lipscomb Dodds 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Danville Care Center.

Born in England, Ark., she was the daughter of James Wood and Nettie June Schooley Lipscomb.

She grew up during the Great Depression with three brothers and two 
sisters. She attended college at the University of Illinois, then 
transferred to Arkansas State Teachers College at Conway, Ark. There, she 
met her husband, Clinton Dodds, who was a Naval Aviation Cadet at the 
airfield in Conway. They were married in the living room of her home on 
November 18, 1944. The marriage lasted until Clinton’s death in 2006.

During the war, they lived in Daytona Beach, Fla., San Diego, Calif., and 
Pasco, Wash. After the war, they lived briefly in Palmyra, Mo., and Fort 
Madison, before settling in Burlington. In 1971, they moved to 
Rochester, N.Y., then returned to Burlington after Clinton’s retirement.&nbsp;

When her children were young, Betty was a homemaker. She was an 
excellent cook, seamstress, knitter and quilter. She introduced her 
children to music, and made sure there was a piano in the living room for
 those who chose to learn. She was a life-long attendee of Civic Music 
programs. When her children were older, she worked in the main office at
 Burlington High School.

Betty was a member of Asbury Methodist Church for over 70 years. She 
rarely missed a Sunday service and joined all the church activities.

Betty is survived by three children, Patt Dodds of Oak Bluffs, Mass., 
Royce Dodds Norton of Madison, Wis., and Chris Dodds of Burlington; one 
sister, Ditty Mitts of Jonesboro, Ark.; five grandchildren; three 
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family committal service will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Asbury Methodist Church, and the Burlington Public Library.

 Beverly earned her RN degree from Southeastern Community College. 
She was a Registered Nurse at local hospitals and for the Burlington 
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons from 1976 to 2000.
 On July 24, 1955, Beverly married Richard “Dick” Reeder in Tipton.
 Beverly was a member of P.E.O., T.T.T. and United Methodist Women. 
She was a world traveler in her later years with her daughter, Terri, and 
she loved her bridge clubs.
 Survivors include daughters. Terri Smith of Naperville, Ill., Kris 
(Bill Jr) Wilke of Burlington, and April Reeder Beckfield of Marion; 
two grandchildren, Evan (Ashley) Ramsey and Megan Beckfield; two great 
grandchildren, Kylie Ramsey and Raylee Ramsey; and several nieces and 
nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
 The memorial service for Mrs. Reeder will be Thursday, April 28, 
2022, at 11:00 AM at Lunning Chapel, with the Reverend Dean Graber 
officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the

 Born October 29, 1962 in Keokuk, he was the son of Wendell 
Land and Deanna “Dee” Ralston Louden. He married Deborah Johnson on 
February 9, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nev.
 He was the plant planner for WestRock in Galesburg, Ill., for the past 39 years. He was of the Christian faith.
 Jeff raced and built RC cars for many years. Everyone he met 
through life and touched, loved him. He was very well liked and 
respected by all of his co-workers and was known to be quite the 
jokester.
 He is survived by his wife, Deborah Land of Burlington; daughter, 
Nikki Creighton; granddaughter, Demsey Creighton; his mother, Dee (Jim) 
Louden of Fla.; half-brothers, Ryan Land and Vince Land both of Keokuk; 
step-brother, Christopher Wilkerson of Tulsa, Okla.; his “bonus” 
children, Shawna Ranney, Emma Ranney, Chloe Ranney, Jade Moser, Stephanie
 (Alex) Ranney and Justin (Brittany) Weiss and their children; and his 
fur babies, Pedro, Bella, Izzy, Zoey, Cleo, Luna and Milo.
 He was preceded in death by his father, uncle and paternal and maternal grandparents.
 A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Jamie Wiseman, 50, of Burlington, died at 7:55 PM Friday, April 22, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born September 19, 1971, in Sigourney, she was the daughter of Marion and Linda Kinsler Short. On May 27, 2010, she married Byron N. Wiseman at the West Burlington Methodist Church.

Jamie was a homemaker. She also helped with odd jobs and painting.

She enjoyed morel hunting and going fishing. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family.&nbsp;

Survivors include her mother and father, Linda and Marion Short; husband, Byron N. Wiseman of Burlington; one son, Jules Short of Burlington; one daughter, Ashley Wilson of Burlington; two grandchildren, Zander, Vinnie; and one brother, Jeff Short of Mount Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and one sister, Julie Short.

Carla Michelle Campbell, 61, of Burlington, passed peacefully at 5:55
 AM Thursday, April 7th, 2022, at Danville Care Center in Danville.&nbsp;

Shelle was born October 25, 1960, in Louisiana, Mo., she was the 
daughter of Franklin Eugene Pearl and Fannie Odessa Miller Chatman.&nbsp;

She graduated high school at Central High in Davenport, and attended Southeastern Community College.

Her favorite thing to do was taking care of people and spending time 
with family. She loved listening to all kinds of music, but some of her 
favorite artists were Bobby Womack, Rick Ross, and Jaheim, just to name a
 few. She was adventurous and loved to travel.&nbsp;

She is survived by her two daughters, Brandi Cartmill and Brittney 
Campbell; five grandchildren, Indiyah, Jiyaz, Keymiya, Ka’Briya and 
Reiyna; ten&nbsp;siblings, Bruce Campbell, Carmen Cowen, Toni Pearl Barger, 
Chuck Pearl, Kevin Pearl, Avery Pearl, Joy Pearl,&nbsp;Angela Organ, Franklin
 Wilson and Rafus Wilson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family 
members, and friends that loved Shelle dearly.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Fannie Chatman and 
Franklin Pearl, and siblings, Crystal “Faith” Pearl, Melody “Tracy” 
Pearl, Frederick Campbell, and Julie Pearl White.

Dianne Maxine Boecker, 79, of Burlington, died at 10:19 AM Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 3, 1942, in Zion, Ill., she was the daughter of Donald and Dorothy Varner Lincoln.&nbsp;

She was a graduate of Argyle High School. Dianne's first job was with Sheaffer Pen. She later started working for the Burlington High School in the cafeteria, and retired last year after 41 years.&nbsp;

She was a former member of the Eagles Club and Burlington Moose. She loved to be outside; taking walks, basking in the sunshine, and enjoying the hummingbirds and butterflies in her yard. Dianne liked to dance, shoot pool, play bingo and gambling at the Casino. She was always cooking for her family and like canning.

Survivors include her daughters, Teresa (Terry) Krieger of Middletown, Nancy (Lyn) Fleece of Davenport, and Tara Boecker of Burlington; her significant other of 18 years, Dave Crawford of Burlington; three grandchildren, Miranda (AJ) Fesler of Middletown, Jenna (Kody) Kruse of Danville, and Alan Fleece, currently in the Air Force &amp; stationed in Germany; five great-grandchildren, Carter, Aylah, Zaylan, Jaxson, Kendall, and one due in June; three siblings, Dody Zinnert of Keokuk, Donna Fiedler of Hamilton, Ill., and Dennis Lincoln of Ariz.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dick Lincoln, and sister, Darla Stoneking.

Peter Richardson, 78, of Burlington, died Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.&nbsp;

Born December 15, 1943, in Milford, Mass., he was the son of Allen and Bernice Hofstra Richardson. He married Marilyn Marie Riffel on April 20, 1968. She passed away in 2005. 

Pete graduated from Medway High School in 1962, Dean Junior College in 1964 with a degree in Building Construction Technology, and Bradley University in 1967 with a B.S. in Applied Science. Directly after graduation, he began working at the I.A.A.P as an engineer and worked his way up to the Mechanical Division Manager and Facilities Use Manager, responsible for maintaining all the buildings, roads, vehicles, and utilities within the facility, until his retirement in 2000. He served on the Burlington School Board for six years as a member and president, volunteered with the Travelers Protective Association, provided employer’s support for the Iowa National Guard and Reserve, and served on the Southeast Iowa Airport Authority. His service earned him the Governor’s volunteer award in 1991 and the Ann Parks Human Rights Award in 1995.&nbsp;

Pete was an avid collector, especially of railroad and airplane memorabilia. He could build or fix anything, and would spend hours cleaning and repairing treasures found at flea markets and auctions. He enjoyed visiting with friends and staff during his daily exercise at Great River Health. In recent years he enjoyed traveling and selling memorabilia at railroad and airline shows with his friend, Pamela Varner.&nbsp;

Survivors include his two daughters, Julie Oriano (Anthony) of Riverside, and Jemma Richardson-Bever (Bruce) of Houston, Tex.; and three grandsons, Noah, Nicolas and Nash.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marilyn.&nbsp;

A memorial visitation will be held at a later date. According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.&nbsp;

Memorials have been established for Des Moines County Historical Society or the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy, Cedar Rapids.

Alexis Marie Long, 18, of Burlington, died at 9:43 PM Monday, April 
18, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West 
Burlington.

Born April 23, 2003, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of&nbsp;Natasha Long.&nbsp;

Alexis was very caring and helpful. She loved animals, especially her
 cat, Willow, and her mamaw’s dog, Copper. She enjoyed many outdoor 
activities such as rock hunting, river fishing, and going to the camp 
ground. Alexis also liked to draw and watch funny videos. Music was her 
life; she had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Most of all, Alexis 
loved spending time with her family.&nbsp;

Survivors include her mother, Natasha Long of Burlington; 
her grandparents, Kevin and Kim Long of Burlington; her great-grandparents, 
Kenneth Almendinger, Jr. of Burlington, Bettie Kinkeade of &nbsp;Valrico,&nbsp;Fla.,
 and Gerald and Thena Joy Long; one uncle, Dillon Long of Eldridge; 
one aunt, Nikki (Jeff) Grim of Center Point; two great-uncles, John

Alexis Marie Long

Daniel Herbert Wiedemeier passed away at 08:05 a.m. on April 19, 2022, at
 Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House. Mr. Wiedemeier was born on 
October 11, 1938, in Burlington, Iowa. He was the son of the late 
Herbert and Nola Wiedemeier.
 In 1959, he married Ruth Jane Hunt. He later married Marcia Holmes Marshall in 1988.
 He graduated from Burlington High School in 1956. He attended 
Burlington Junior College for one year and graduated from the State 
University of Iowa with his bachelor’s degree in business administration
 in 1960. He did graduate work at Carlton College, Northwestern 
University, Michigan State and the University of Nebraska. He served in 
the United States Army National Guard for eight years.
 His professional career began with the then Bell System in 1960. He 
later was transferred to Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph in 
Denver, Colorado. When the Bell System was divested, he was transferred 
to American Telephone and Telegraph. During his almost 30-year tenure in
 the communication industry, he was transferred to 14 different cities. 
He was Vice President and Chief Executive Officer for South Dakota. Vice
 President and General Manager for Colorado, Regional Vice President for
 AT&amp;T in Denver, Corporate Vice President- Human Resources AT&amp;T 
New York, and retired as Vice President – Federal System AT&amp;T in 
Washington, D.C. in 1987, and moved back to his beloved Iowa and 
Burlington. 
 After two years of retirement, he joined Farmers and Merchants Bank.
 He retired from the bank in 2000. He has since worked on a part time 
basis with Lunning Chapel.
 He loved his family and enjoyed being with his children and 
grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, spending time at the river cottage 
fishing. He was an avid aviation enthusiast and private pilot.
 Dan has always been active in the communities where he has lived. 
In 1994, he was appointed by Governor Branstad to the Iowa Transportation
 Commission and served as its Chair in 2000-2001. He is a past president
 or chair of the following organizations: Southeast Council-Boy Scouts 
of America, Civic Music Association, Des Moines County Conservation, 
Messiah Lutheran Church Council and Burlington Kiwanis Club, Board of 
Great River Medical Center, Airport Authority.
 He was a strong supporter of the United Way and Junior Achievement, 
working as a volunteer for over 45 years. Awards of recognition seemed 
to follow Dan everywhere. His most treasured were the Boy Scout 
Distinguished Citizen Award and the Burlington Chamber Emmy Award, 
presented in Burlington. He loved his country, Iowa, and always served 
to improve his community wherever he happened to live.
 He is survived by his wife, Marcia; two children, Bradford of Elbert, 
Colorado, and Jane Hill, of Green Way Village, Colorado; one sister, Delores 
Harken of Landsdale, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren. 
 Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Todd.
 Surely Dan has already assumed his position as “Chairman of the Board” hereafter.
 The funeral service for Mr. Wiedemeier will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, 
April 23, 2022, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington, with 
Reverends Ryan Cosgrove and Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be 
at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:30 until 
time of service. Friends may call Friday, April 22, 2022, at Lunning 
Chapel from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by

Helen Reynolds, 94, of Mount Union, died at 10:38 PM Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at her home.

Born January 25, 1926, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond Charles and Constance Velma Marsh Sutherland. On February 9, 1949, she married George James Harrison in Burlington. He passed on June 21, 1988.
