Tara Gail Hillyer, 49, of Middletown, died Sunday, June 16, 2024, at her home.

Born May 18, 1975, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of William and Linda Simmons Farr. On Oct. 24, 1998, she married Steven P. Hillyer at Saints Mary and Patrick's Catholic Church in West Burlington.&nbsp;

She was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She attended Dayton's School of Hair Design.&nbsp;

Tara was a hair stylist for many years at A Cut Above in Burlington. She was a United States Postal Carrier delivering for the rural routes covering West Point.&nbsp;

Tara enjoyed the outdoors; camping, fishing, working in her garden and planting flowers on the deck. She liked to spend time on the river and with her animals. She was a great cook, but never gave out her recipes. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and the numerous vacations they took.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband, Steven Hillyer of Middletown; two children Cade Hillyer and Alivia Hillyer both of Middletown; mother, Linda Farr of Mount Pleasant; three siblings Lynette (William Lyon) Farr, Brian (Carol) Farr and Marla Farr all of Mount Pleasant; two sisters-in-law, Kim (Brian) Wolbert of Eldridge and Jan (Bill) Lippert of Burlington; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Hope) Hillyer of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, brother and great niece.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.&nbsp;

Josephine "Darlene" Johnson, 87, formerly of Burlington, died Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Dec. 15, 1936, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Emil B. and Emma Lavina Kiersey Johnson.&nbsp;

She enjoyed watching television, coloring, eating sweets and playing with her cat, Oliver.

Survivors include her friends and caregivers at Morning Sun Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Darlene will be laid to rest next to her parents in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

After school, she worked as a dental assistant. She later became a United States Postal Carrier, working for over 27 years.

Terri enjoyed spending time outdoors either tending to her plants or caring for her animals. She loved to travel, especially around America and South America. Most of all, Terri loved to spend time with her family and her granddaughters.&nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Colton Welcher and Amber (Jesse) Byrne both of Burlington; three granddaughters, Aria, Lily, and Ella Byrne all of Burlington; three sisters, Dawn (Dick) Lofgren of Lansing, Ill., Debbie (Tim) Denton of Park Forest, Ill., and Goldie Bridges of Park Forest, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

Marvel Ann Robinson, 86, of Burlington, died Thursday, June 13, 2024, at her home in Burlington.

Born Sept. 24, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of William H. and Dorothy Wells Greenup. In 1957, she married Thomas Robinson. They later divorced.

She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1956 and later as an LPN from Southeastern Community College in 1980.

Marvel worked at the Burlington Medical Center and Klein's for thirty years, retiring in 2010.

Marvel was a member of the Union Baptist Full Gospel Fellowship Church. &nbsp;She was a mother of three children. She loved sports and was a diehard fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Los Angeles Dodgers. It was part of her bucket list to see her favorite sports teams, and she did just that. She loved attending church. She was actively involved in her church serving as an usher, board of directors, and mother of the church. &nbsp;Family meant everything to Marvel. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and supporting them in everything they did. She was often seen attending her children's sporting events, and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. When she wasn't attending sporting events, she was often on her way to visit her sisters.

Survivors include her three children, Vicki Chatman of Burlington, Thomas Robinson of Burlington, and Timothy (Maria) Robinson of Burlington; six grandchildren, Mark Tabron, Jr. of Burlington, &nbsp;Timmya Robinson of Fort Wayne, Ind., Elizabeth Kershner of Burlington, Victoriea Robinson of Burlington, Kristina Robinson of Burlington, and Kayla Robinson of Burlington; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Campbell of Des Moines, and Sally (Roosevelt) Manley of Minneapolis, Minn.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friends, Sandy and Lynn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John Jr., William, and Chester Greenup; one sister, Sharon Wilson, and her grandparents.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship.

The funeral service for Mrs. Robinson will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship with Reverend Lawrence L. Mary June (Housman) Downer, 88, of Sperry, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, surrounded by her family at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born on June 1, 1936, she was the daughter of William and Eugenia (Kubish) Housman. On May 20, 1956, at Salem Lutheran Church in Salem, Iowa, she married Donald Downer.

Mary graduated in the class of 1955 from Sperry High School. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and then later a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Mary enjoyed quilting, sewing and caring for her flower and vegetable gardens. Most of all Mary loved being home with her children and raising the family. Her most enjoyable times were traveling, taking the kids on vacations, and camping. Mary instilled her faith in God in her children. She always made sure the children remembered their prayers before dinner and bedtime. Mary was gentle, kind, always smiling and was the most loving wife and mother. She was as beautiful as her favorite flowers Zinnias and Hibiscus.

She is survived by her husband Don; three children: Kevin (Suzanne) Downer of Sperry, Doug (Susan) Downer of Palm Bay, Fla. and Melody (Duane) Berenger of Burlington; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother John Housman; two sisters: Edith Johnson and Opal Weyrick-Payne.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at Burlington Memorial Park with Pastor James Zuehls officiating.

Donald Roger “Red” Driskell, 86, of Blandinsville, Illinois, died Monday, June 17, 2024, at The LaMoine Assisted Living in Macomb, Ill.&nbsp; Red was born Nov. 12, 1937, in Macomb the son of Wendell and Helen Brown Driskell. On April 15, 1960, he married Wanda Lee Woodside in Blandinsville. She preceded him in death July 19, 2012.&nbsp; Red was a 1955 graduate of Northwestern High School. Following high school he worked for a short time in maintenance for the State of Illinois. He spent most of his life working for Hofmeister Construction in Blandinsville. He enjoyed carpentry work, playing cards, golfing, more golfing, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and traveling with his wife in their retirement.&nbsp;

He was a member of the Blandinsville Hire Fire Department, Blandinsville Christian Church and Twin Oaks Golf &amp; County Club in Blandinsville.&nbsp;

Carl “Pokey” Harold Loyd, 75, of New London, died Sunday, June 16, 2024 at his home.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born in Burlington on Oct. 20, 1948, to James Arthur “Bud” and Ida Frances Wise Loyd.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a 1966 graduate of New London High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 1967 he married Vicki Colby; they later divorced.&nbsp;&nbsp;On May 2, 1987, Carl married Anna Baxter Woodsmall in New London.&nbsp;

Carl was a lifelong farmer and owner and operator of Carl Loyd Trucking; drove for Dickey’s Prairie Home, New London Coop, Aldi Foods, and retired from WalMart Transportation.

He was a fifty-year member of New London Mason Lodge AF &amp; AM #28; and a member of New London Jaycees, Ruritans, and formed the New London wrestling boosters; and supported Dollars for Scholars.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was very involved in his community.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed NASCAR and collected diecast banks.&nbsp;&nbsp;Most importantly, Carl loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud.

Carl is survived by his wife, Anna; his sons, David Dewey Loyd, Dominick Darrin (Jamie) Loyd, Damon Drew (Jennifer) Loyd, Brendon Michael (Kara) Woodsmall, all of New London, and Timothy Keith (Lacey) Woodsmall of Livingston, New Jersey; one brother Leslie (Kathy) Loyd of New London; one sister Wilma Townley of Burlington; ten grandchildren, Culley, Bryce, Samuel, Layney, Carlie Jo, Nick (Bubba), Marlianna, Bronson, Lillian and Leo; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Hagen; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law Denise Loyd; two grandsons; and one granddaughter.

Rhoda B. Molter, 85, of Dallas City, Ill. died Saturday, June 15, 2024 at her home.

Rhoda was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Bradford, Ill., the daughter of Paul and Thelma Burrell Marsden. On July 24, 1966, she married Michael Molter at the First Christian Church in Dallas City. He survives.&nbsp;

Rhoda was raised and educated in Dallas City. She worked for many local factories, including Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison and retired from Methode in Carthage in 1999. She could often be found quilting, making and enjoying her own wine, gardening, feeding hummingbirds, and spending time with her friends and family.&nbsp;

Besides her husband, survivors include two sons: Byron Newberry of Dallas City and John Molter of Moline, Ill.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren: five siblings: Lori Ray, Kirby Marsden, Linda Rettig, Mary Alice Krannenberg, and Gary Marsden. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son: Gary Newberry on March 23, 2020, and four siblings: Marilyn McDermott, Nedra McKasson, George Marsden, and Mike Marsden.&nbsp; Cremation has been entrusted to Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home of Dallas City.

Judith Ann “Judy” Oliver, 82, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill.

Judy was born March 10, 1942 in LaHarpe the daughter of Charles and Maxine Bice Ferguson. She married Richard Oliver in 1959. They later divorced.&nbsp;

Judy attended LaHarpe High School. She began working at Gene &amp; Bev’s Grocery Store in Blandinsville, Ill., and relocated to their LaHarpe store. The store changed hands and became R &amp; D Grocery Store and later, R &amp; M Grocery Store. She was a loyal employee to the store for 55 years, retiring in 2020. Judy enjoyed visiting with everyone who came into the store. She never met a stranger and was well known for her infectious laugh. She also enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards, especially pitch.&nbsp;

She was a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter: Barbara Oliver of LaHarpe; one grandson: Kevin Oliver of LaHarpe; two sisters: Janet (Larry) Johnson of LaHarpe and Jean Mershon of LaHarpe; one brother: Larry (Lisa) Long of Blandinsville and one sister-in-law: Karen Ferguson of Roseville, Illinois.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by four children in infancy: Terry, Sherry, Lisa and Brenda Oliver; one brother: James Ferguson; one sister: Jerilyn Long and a brother-in-law: Terry Mershon.&nbsp;

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.&nbsp;

The funeral service for Judy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 20 at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Pastor Nate McCarter officiating.&nbsp;

Cremation will be accorded following the service. A graveside service for friends and family will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22 at LaHarpe Cemetery with Pastor Gordon Blankenship officiating.

Kerry Lynn Kelly, 54, of West Burlington, died Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born Nov. 21, 1969, in Burlington, he was the son of Frederick &nbsp;and Margaret &nbsp;Graf Kelly. On Aug. 3, 1991, he married Judy &nbsp;Coleman in Danville.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kerry worked for Keurig Dr. Pepper for 29 years. He started off working as a driver, vending technician, route supervisor, and finally a sales rep for the last 20 years.

He was a member of Unity Lutheran Church. Kerry enjoyed bowling and will be inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame on July 12, 2024. He also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeye Football team. Kerry was also known to enjoy a good episode of Friends. &nbsp;Most of all, Kerry loved spending time with his wife and daughters. They were truly his pride and joy. Kerry will be most remembered for his sense of humor. He always had the goal to make interactions with him light, and to make sure he got a laugh out of everyone.

Survivors include his parents; Frederick and Margaret Kelly of West Burlington; wife, Judy Kelly of West Burlington, daughter, Laurel Kelly of West Burlington, daughter, Joleen Kelly of West Burlington, brother, Kristopher (Patti) Kelly of Norseland, Minn., brother, Kurt (Michaela) Kelly of Snohomish, Wash., sister, Becky (Glen Trey Martin) Runyan of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, brother, Kevin Kelly and sister, Dolores Kelly.

Richard Wayne Nehring, 59, of Burlington, died Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at his home.

Born March 23, 1965, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Calvin Nehring and Diana Schutt Schnelle. On July 17, 1993, he married Debra in Marshalltown.&nbsp;

Richard worked primarily as a tool and dye maker. He also worked for Greater Burlington sports facility.&nbsp;

He attended Iowa River Church-The Brethren. He enjoyed racing, fishing, camping, spending time with family, giving family a hard time, spending time at his table, and collecting knives. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Debra Nehring; three sons, Cody (Paige) Nehring, Travis (Emilee) Nehring, and Kevin (Kristina) Peak; four grandchildren, Rorick Wayne Nehring, Lilith Nehring, Tayden Peak, and Trystan Peak; three grandpets, Remi, Cat, and Rider; his father, Calvin Nehring; step-father, Bruce Schnelle; two sisters, Sherry (Scott) Vaughn, and Kim (David) Ryan, two brothers, Scott Jorgensen, and Jeff (Heather) Nehring; one uncle; Craig (Patty) Schutt, several nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Jerry (Kathy) Waterman; &nbsp;and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Josie Ilene Hill, 84, of Burlington, died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born July 15, 1939, in Grant, Ala., she was the daughter of Herbert and Bertha &nbsp;Kirkland Fultz. On Jan., 1956, she married Toy General Hill in Mississippi.&nbsp;

Josie worked grinding railroad tracks in Chicago, before transitioning to a homemaker .

Josie was a wonderful woman, with an amazing sense of humor. Family was very important to Josie. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren. Josie had four dogs, which she considered her children as well. When she wasn't spending time with her family or her furbabies, she enjoyed the comforts of getting lost in a good book.

Survivors include son, Michael Hill of Burlington, daughter, Sheila (Sam) Smith of Burlington, daughter, Pamela (George) Mildenberger of Wis., sister, Arlene Scheffki, 11 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Toy General Hill; her parents; and three sons; Danny, Rickey, and Terry.

Larry G. Burtlow, 64, of Sigourney, died Monday, June 10, 2024, at the University of Iowa Medical Center, Downtown, Iowa City.

Born Nov. 29, 1959, in Iowa City, he was the son of Robert Eugene Sr. and Marlene Burtlow. He married Teresa Green. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children Larry Gene Burtlow Jr., April Michelle Burtlow and Wanda Marie Green; nine grandchildren and one brother Ronnie Burtlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Teresa and stepdaughter Victoria Marie Green.

According to his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

John Pennock, 73, of Revere, Mo., passed away at 9:50 pm on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Great River Medical Clinic in West Burlington, Iowa. John was born in Wellington, Kan., on Aug. 25, 1950, to John T. and Bonnie B. Shepherd Pennock.&nbsp; John and his parents moved frequently over the years, causing him to attend numerous schools and eventually settling at Central Lee High School. There, he thrived in track and field, holding a school record for several years. However, his sports career was abruptly cut short during his senior year due to a football injury that hospitalized him for several months. &nbsp; After high school he began his working career at The Daily Gate City as an Apprentice Printer followed by a variety of other jobs, ending his employment career at Sutton Motors in Macon, Missouri. John married Rebecca Anderson, with whom he had three children. Although they later divorced, John found lasting companionship with Deb Harrison, who remained devoted to him for 40 years, standing by him through all of life's moments. In his younger years, John enjoyed fishing with a cold drink in hand, but as he grew older, he became an avid reader who cherished his solitude.&nbsp; He is survived by his devoted companion Debra Harrison, one son: Josh Pennock of Burlington, two daughters: Heather (Tracy) Madsen of Donnellson, Chelsea (Josh) Stevens of Burlington., and two brothers: Chris Jarvis of Iowa City., Mike (Lori) Jarvis of Franklin, six grandchildren: Ethan, Jayden, Gavin, Henry, Nicholas, Harrison, and other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, his stepdad: James Jarvis, and three brothers: Jeff, Chuck, and Scott Jarvis. Dorothy Mae Houseal, 90, of Burlington, died Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Health Center in West Burlington.

Born Jan. 11, 1934, in Muscatine, Iowa, she was the daughter of George and Esta Burhop.&nbsp; She married Rolla “Bud” Houseal.

Dorothy was a school bus driver for the public school system for 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, Rolla “Bud” Houseal; sons, Brad Johnson and Brent Houseal; grandchildren Nellabel Houseal and Noah Houseal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Brian Houseal and two brothers Richard Burhop and Kenny Burhop.

According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.&nbsp;

Burial will be held at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

James Allen “Jim” Moss, 69, of Fort Madison, died Monday, June 3, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Burlington.

Born on June 22, 1954, in Burlington, he was the son of Ralph and Rose Mary “Rosie” Frenzer Moss. On Aug. 18, 1973, he married K. Renee Ryder in West Burlington.

Jim was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. He graduated from West Burlington High School in 1973. In 2005 Jim retired from J.I. Case after many years working as a welder and machinist. In his free time, he could always be found out in his garage working on his lathe. Jim loved being outdoors hunting and fishing or attending the races. He was so proud to be an American and had so much respect for his country. One of Jim’s best attributes was his humor, joking around, making people laugh and bringing a smile to their face. Most of all, Jim loved being together with his family and his grand-pets.

He is survived by his wife Renee; four children: Jeremy (Deana) Moss of Burlington, Amber (T. Andrew) Johnson of West Point, Wesley (Hannah) Moss of Dallas City, Illinois and Hannah (Jeirod) Nichting of Fort Madison; twelve grandchildren: Ashlyn, Chavis, Myranda, Hadley, Finley, Briley, Kayden, Isaac, Lorelei, Kiptyn, Connor and Coraline; nine great grandchildren; four siblings: Frank (Mary) Moss of Kingston, Iowa, Deb (Hans) Trousil of West Burlington, David Lamb of Florida and Melody (Jim) Moulton of Canada. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

 </figure>James Allen “Jim” Moss, 69, of Fort Madison, died Monday, June 3, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Burlington.Born on June 22, 1954, in Burlington, he was the son of Ralph and Rose Mary “Rosie” Frenzer Moss. On Aug. 18, 1973, he married K. Renee Ryder in West Burlington.Jim was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. He graduated from West Burlington High School in 1973. In 2005 Jim retired from J.I. Case after many years working as a welder and machinist. In his free time, he could always be found out in his garage working on his lathe. Jim loved being outdoors hunting and fishing or attending the races. He was so proud to be an American and had so much respect for his country. One of Jim’s best attributes was his humor, joking around, making people laugh and bringing a smile to their face. Most of all, Jim loved being together with his family and his grand-pets.He is survived by his wife Renee; four children: Jeremy (Deana) Moss of Burlington, Amber (T. Andrew) Johnson of West Point, Wesley (Hannah) Moss of Dallas City, Illinois and Hannah (Jeirod) Nichting of Fort Madison; twelve grandchildren: Ashlyn, Chavis, Myranda, Hadley, Finley, Briley, Kayden, Isaac, Lorelei, Kiptyn, Connor and Coraline; nine great grandchildren; four siblings: Frank (Mary) Moss of Kingston, Iowa, Deb (Hans) Trousil of West Burlington, David Lamb of Florida and Melody (Jim) Moulton of Canada. Kyle John Randolph,&nbsp;31, of Nauvoo, Ill., died Monday, June 10, 2024, at his home in Nauvoo.

He was born on July 15, 1992, in Fort Madison, the son of Kipp and Kathy Clift Randolph.&nbsp;

He is survived by his parents: Kipp and Kathy; brother: Kevin (Ashley) Randolph of Warsaw, Illinois; nieces: Vayda and Kenley Nichols of Warsaw, Ill.; grandmother: Rosalie Clift of Kahoka, Mo.; aunts and uncles: Gary (Cathy) Randolph of Canton, Missouri, Deana (Mirko Beusan) Owen of Georgetown, Ind.; Chad Owen of New London, Mo.; Sherry Koonce of St. Genevieve, Mo.; Debbie (Kirt) Malone of Palmyra, Mo.; Cindy (Jacob) Kumm of Palmyra, Mo.. Kyle was a 2010 graduate of Fort Madison High School. He worked at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy on the service team. Kyle was of the Christian faith and in his youth attended Victory Faith Community Church. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, mixed martial arts, attending St. Louis Cardinals games and drawing. Kyle looked forward to weekend trips with his brother and spending time with his family and friends.

Robert T. Critchfield, 70, died Thursday, June 6, 2024, in Mount Rest, S.C. He was known as Bob to his friends and Bobby to his family. 

He was born Jan. 8, 1954, the son of Edwin and Marjorie Critchfield.

He was a lifelong carpenter and skilled craftsman. He loved many animals over the years including horses and most recently a huge duck, a cat, and Minnie, his dog.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wendy; daughter Kathleen (Kit); his parents Marjorie and Edwin Critchfield; and brother Mike Critchfield.

Thomas John Elmore, 75, of Burlington, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. Born March 15, 1949, in Burlington, he was the son of John H. and Doreen M. Brockelman Elmore. Tom met the love of his life in high school. Before the start of his senior year, he married Geraldine "Geri" H. Johnson in Burlington on June 12, 1966. They were very close to celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1967, and furthered his education at SCC and Iowa Wesleyan.&nbsp; Tom started his career as a teacher, coach and Athletic Director for Burlington Notre Dame.&nbsp; He later taught and coached at Burlington High School and was the Athletic Director until his retirement in 2004. Throughout his career, he coached baseball, football, basketball, wrestling, track and softball. Tom even helped win a basketball state title for BHS with fellow coach Mack Turner.&nbsp; He truly loved coaching kids and was very involved with developing them in more than just sports. He strived to be a positive role model to every child he coached or taught.&nbsp; He was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association, Purple and Gray Foundation and was inducted into the Hall of Honor in the Burlington School District in 2017. When Tom was not spending time with family, he enjoyed spending time in his garden planting flowers, tinkering in his shop or working in his yard, and had his own lawn care service. He was proud to instill his work ethic into his children and grandchildren. His positive, loving and gentle spirit will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.&nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Geri Elmore of Burlington; son, Thomas J. Eva Bernice Heaton-Beach, 83 years, of Denmark, Iowa died Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, West Burlington.&nbsp; She was born June 21, 1940, in Quincy, Ill., a daughter of Elva and Anna Bernice Wood Heaton.&nbsp; On April 21, 1963, she married Ernest M. Beach in Missouri and they had three children.&nbsp; They later divorced.

She graduated from the Memphis Missouri High School in 1958.&nbsp; She worked for Sheaffer Pen and then retired from Fruehauf Trailer Corp.&nbsp; She also did a lot of sewing for families in the area.&nbsp; You could always find her a couple times a day at the Jet Stop Coffee Club.&nbsp; She loved reading, hummingbirds, mowing and tending to her garden, where she would grow various things, including up to 125 tomato plants.&nbsp; She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.&nbsp; Eva was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her children: Bryan (Ranee) Beach, of Colusa, Ill.; Kristi Beach and Scott Beach, both of Denmark, Iowa; siblings: Dorva Arbor, of Memphis, Missouri; Dale Heaton; Dorothy Hornung, of Montrose, Iowa; grandchildren: Brandan Beach, A.J. Paul M. Corzatt, 96, of rural Dallas City, Ill., died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at The Elms in Macomb, Ill.&nbsp;

Paul was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Raritan, Ill., the son of A. Buell and Cordelia Lofftus Corzatt. On Aug. 1, 1948, he married Barbara Blythe at the Durham United Methodist Church. She survives.

Paul spent his childhood in the Raritan area. His family moved to the Durham community in 1936, where he would live and farm all of his life. He enjoyed his work. He also hauled livestock for many years. He and Barb traveled together and in younger years attended many State Fairs with their family. He also enjoyed cattle and horse sales, horse races and tractor pulls. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

He was a member of the LaHarpe Masonic Lodge, Hancock County Farm Bureau and the LaHarpe Christian Church, where he served on the church board many years ago. &nbsp;

Besides his wife, survivors include four children: Kathy Butler of Blandinsville, &nbsp;Gary (Teresa) Corzatt of LaHarpe, Carol (Todd) Stevens of LaHarpe and Wayne (Debbie) Corzatt of Dallas City; eleven grandchildren: Julie (Jeremy) Smith, Matthew (Valerie) Butler, Jeffrey (Melissa) Butler, Robyn (Matt) Nichols, Laura (David) Panto, Kevin (Kimberly) Corzatt, Lesley (Bruce) McCain, Kristin (Chad) Lolling, Chris (Deanne) Corzatt, Craig (Kristina) Corzatt and Jensen (Mackenzie) Corzatt and 29 great-granchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents: two siblings: Ada Thompson and Ivan Corzatt; one son-in-law: David Butler and two great-granchildren: Jeffrey Panto and Laken Corzatt. &nbsp;

Alice Louise Pence, 84, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Courtyard Estates in Bushnell, Ill.&nbsp;

Alice was born June 12, 1939, in Lomax, Ill, the daughter of Fred B. and Dewey Pitts Cox. On Sept. 15, 1957, she married David L. Pence in Lomax. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 2021.&nbsp;

Alice was raised in the Lomax area and graduated from Terre Haute High School in 1957. She was a homemaker when her children were young. Later, she was employed by King Seeley in Macomb, Schaefer Pen in Fort Madison and retired from Methode in Carthage. She also owned and operated Hometown Video in LaHarpe with her husband.&nbsp;

She enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds, crossword puzzles, watching game shows, and attending local sporting events. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter: Jerri Lynn Smith; one son: Tim Pence; her parents; step-mother: Eunice Cox; a granddaighter-in-law: Alicia Pence and three brothers: Gail, Benny and Charles Cox.&nbsp;

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Banks &amp; Beals with Pastor Maxine Dennison officiating.&nbsp;

Cremation will be entrusted to Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home following the service. Burial will be held at Crane Cemetery at a later date.&nbsp;

 </figure>Alice Louise Pence, 84, of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Courtyard Estates in Bushnell, Ill.&nbsp;Alice was born June 12, 1939, in Lomax, Ill, the daughter of Fred B. and Dewey Pitts Cox. On Sept. 15, 1957, she married David L. Pence in Lomax. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 2021.&nbsp;Alice was raised in the Lomax area and graduated from Terre Haute High School in 1957. She was a homemaker when her children were young. Later, she was employed by King Seeley in Macomb, Schaefer Pen in Fort Madison and retired from Methode in Carthage. She also owned and operated Hometown Video in LaHarpe with her husband.&nbsp;She enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds, crossword puzzles, watching game shows, and attending local sporting events. Mickey Allan Garrison,&nbsp;80, of Burlington, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his home&nbsp;surrounded by his loving three daughters.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Born on&nbsp;May 6,&nbsp;1944, in&nbsp;Keokuk, he was the son of&nbsp;Milton and Opal O’Laughlan Garrison. On Nov. 18, 1967, in Malden, Mass., he married Kathleen Ann Ford. She preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mickey was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the USS Wasp and USS Randolph. He worked for J.I. Case and then Heartland Express as a truck driver where he retired from. Mickey loved riding his motorcycle, hunting, playing cards and tinkering in the garage. As a retired truck driver, he loved long road trips and “letting the world go by”. He enjoyed starting each day with a hot cup of coffee and ending it while indulging in a big bowl of ice cream. No matter who Mickey ran into or talked to, he would never leave without saying "go ahead and take the day off". That was his way of showing gratitude and saying goodbye.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mickey was most proud of his three daughters and eight grandchildren who loved him dearly.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his three daughters: Kerri (Michael) Upton, Jodi (Aaron) Childs both of Vancouver, Washington, and Cindy (Chris) Sawyer of Anderson, South Carolina; eight grandchildren: Kelsie, Lyndsie, Jaden, Jackson, Garrison, Autumn, Hannah and Mollie;&nbsp;brother in-law William Ford of West Burlington, Iowa and sister in-law Nancy Lubinski of Salem, New Hampshire.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents&nbsp;and&nbsp;wife Kathleen.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.&nbsp;His family will celebrate his life privately together per his wishes.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Donald Gene Anderson, 65, of West Burlington, died Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at his home. Born on Dec. 13, 1958, he was the son of Margaret Mae Anderson.

Don is survived by his two sisters: Barbara (Mike) Baker of Knoxville, Tenn., and his twin sister Donna (Dave) Dietsch of Goodridge, Minn.; and three brothers: Jerry White, Chuck (Charise) White both of Burlington, and Mike White of Tellico Plain, Tenn. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Don will be deeply missed by his loving family. No services will be held.
