Mark Allen Helt, 63, of Danville, died Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 16, 1960, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Maurice R. and Nancy “Kay” Davis Helt.

He was a 1978 graduate of Fort Madison High School and graduated from Southeastern Community College.

He married Janice Miltenberger on April 30, 1983.

Mark was a delivery driver for UPS for over 30 years until his retirement and a member of Teamsters #218. He made many friends along his route.

He ran two-man Thundercars at 34 Raceway for several years and was a Ken Schrader racing fan. He loved coaching his daughter’s ASA Xplosion Softball team and was very proud of his “girls”. Known fondly as “Tank” he was very proud of his 1972 blue Camaro which he fully restored and had owned since high school.

Mark is survived by his wife; daughter Liberty (Andrew) Taeger of West Burlington; two grandchildren, Karlie Taeger and Howard Taeger; his mother Kay Helt of West Burlington; three siblings, Dee Ann (Mike) Schnieder of Evansville, Ind., Chuck (Carol) Helt and Gary Helt both of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice and father and mother-in-law John and Joyce Miltenberger.

According to his wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Thomas Bledsoe, 74, of Burlington, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at his home in Burlington, Iowa.

Born Feb. 12, 1949, in Kansas, Mo., he was the son of Raymond Nelson and Della Ruth Bledsoe. &nbsp;

Tommy loved his TV shows, movies, reading, collecting comic books and baseball cards. Tommy was an avid KC Royals and Chiefs fan. Tommy often could be found enjoying Star Wars and old westerns.&nbsp;

Tommy was the recipient of the Patriotic Citizen Award by the VFW for displaying the American Flag without fail.

Survivors include two brothers, Raymond (Angelia) Bledsoe of Kentucky&nbsp;and James (Kim) Bledsoe of Barstow, Calif.; and niece, Ricci &nbsp;(Andy) Neilson of Burlington, with whom he resided; five additional nieces, five nephews, and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Cyndi Mahoney.

A service will be held at a later date. Tommy will be laid to rest with his family in Kansas City, Mo.

Nancy Galbraith, 74, of Gladstone, Ill., died Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born Feb. 19, 1949, in Monmouth, Ill., she was the daughter of Orval L. and Cora L. Brown Detrick. On Feb. 9, 1969, she married David Galbraith at the Olena Community Church.&nbsp;

She was a graduate of Union High School class of 1967.

Nancy worked in billing and coding at Cleveland Dermatology until her retirement.&nbsp;

Nancy loved spending time with family. She enjoyed shopping, and collecting recipes.

Survivors include her husband, David Carl Galbraith of Gladstone, Ill.; two daughters, Kim (Rodger) Hake of Burlington, and Amber (Bill) Miller of Mayville, Wis.; three grandchildren, Kristin Hake, Genesis Miller, and Autumn Miller-Sitas and one sister, Esther Grimes of Monmouth, Ill. and one brother, Dale Detrick of Stronghurst, Ill. and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to &nbsp;5 p.m. with the family to receive friends Friday, June 16, 2023 at First Church of the Nazarene.

The funeral service for Mrs. Galbraith will be 5 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023, at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jeff Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Olena Cemetery in Stronghurst, Ill. at a later date.&nbsp;

Robert E. “Bob” Lehnherr, 63, of Mediapolis, died Monday, June 12, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital. &nbsp;Bob was born April 17, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, the son of John “Jack” Lehnherr and Beverly Heick Conner. He graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1978. Bob was united in marriage to Patricia “Patti” Murphy on March 25, 2000, at the Yarmouth School.

Bob owned and operated Bob’s Best Shot in Mediapolis since 1983. He also worked as a truck driver for local farmers and had various jobs in construction, concrete, and carpentry throughout the years. Bob was an avid NASCAR and Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed traveling and Ranger rides, but most of all, he enjoyed being around people whether it was meeting someone new or catching up with old friends. Bob was known for coming up with events for others to have fun and was truly a friend to everyone. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and he spoiled them every chance he had.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife; son, Erik (Erin) Allen of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Erin (Darren) Steffener of Mediapolis; grandchildren: Nathan, Jack, Ella, Audrey, Addison, and Jessica; siblings: Jan (Rich) Perrenoud of Mediapolis; Sue Johnson of Mediapolis; Mike (Lisa) Lehnherr of Freeport, Ill.; and Dave Conner of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

Grace M. Mellinger, 98, of Burlington, died Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born May 29, 1924, in Louisa County, she was the daughter of Russell and Alice Cover Mehaffy. On Oct. 3, 1942, she married DeVon "Mel/Vonnie" Mellinger in Kahoka, Mo. He died on Nov. 27, 2014.

She worked at IAAP, Burlington Instrument Co., Ross Manufacturing Co., Sylvania, and Eklunds Ladies Fashions.

Grace was a member of Eastern Star #545 for many years and attended West Burlington United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and boat trips with her husband up the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers. She also enjoyed bird watching, especially the hummingbirds and goldfinches. She was very fond of angels, chocolate, and the color red. Grace was classy and known for her elegant wardrobe and amazing style.

Survivors include one sister, Faye Fraise of West Point; two brothers, Ronald (Patty) Mehaffy of Burlington, and Donald (Carol) Mehaffy of Mount Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Vickie Hightower , 68, of Burlington, died Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the New London Nursing and Rehab in New London.

Born April 29, 1955, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Daniel Gene and Evelyn Mae Nichols Whalen. On Dec. 29, 1973 she married Charles James Hightower Sr. in Burlington, they later divorced. He died June 8, 2015.

She was a 1973 graduate of Burlington High School. She later received a degree in Medical Coding.

Vickie worked for Winegard, Antenna Craft, and Great River Medical Center.

Vickie had strong belief in Salvation. She loved it when her family was all able to get together. She enjoyed shopping, bonfires, and spending time with her grandkids, especially when they stayed over at her house. She always had a cold Coke and a bag of Hershey’s Nuggets nearby. She will be remembered as outspoken, but a kind and good hearted person.

Survivors include her sons, Charles J. (Lisa Kreft) Hightower, Jr. of Yarmouth, and Samuel E. (Stephanie) Hightower of Danville; daughters, Jennifer (Steve) Jarvis of Fort Madison, and Ellie Strawhacker of Burlington; 11 grandchildren, Natalie (Ethan) McGann, Charles Hightower, III, Daniel Hightower, Jebidiah Hightower, Katherine Hightower, Jacob Jarvis, Brandon Jarvis, Sydney Jarvis, Johnathon Strawhacker, Christopher Strawhacker, and&nbsp; William Strawhacker.

Barbara Jean Bright, 81, of West Burlington, died Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Sept. 13, 1941, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Henry and Veda A. Powell Crowder. On Dec. 4, 1960, she married Eugene Andrew and later divorced. On April 26, 1974, she married Frank Smith Bright in Burlington.&nbsp;

Barbara worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as a clerk secretary. She also had a clerical service from her home and taught computer basics.

Barbara enjoyed computers. She was a seamstress and loved crocheting, knitting and crafting as she enjoyed going to vendors craft shows. She also had a strong love of music; she played piano, organ, accordion, and violin. Barbra loved reading the Bible.

Survivors include daughter, Nancy Jean (Eric) Lowe of Burlington, granddaughter, Valerie Lynn (Matthew) Jarvis-McQuillen of Burlington, granddaughter, Heather JoAnn Lowe of Burlington.

Besides her husband Frank, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Martha Alma Crowder and one brother, John Powell Crowder, Jr.

Barbara Bright

Ronald F. Hoyt, 78, of Marshalltown and formerly of Burlington, died Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Iowa Veterans Home.

Ron was born May 9, 1945, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Frank Harold and Hope Irene Ross Hoyt. On May 5, 1973, he married Rebecca Wolfe of New London and they later divorced. On March 17, 2001 he married Peggy Ackey and she preceded him in death on March 13, 2021.

Ron graduated from Columbus Junction High School and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam war 1963 to 1967. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad after 30 years of employment.

Ron was a member of Sunnyside Avenue Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing, cooking, and playing cards.

Survivors include his children; Jeremy Hoyt of Muscatine, Justin (Allison) Hoyt of Council Bluffs, and Jennifer Davis (Jerry Rutherford) of Burlington; two stepchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Stanton of Oquawka, Ill. and Travis (Jennifer) Fahlgren of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Gabriel of Muscatine, and Trudy Smith.

Besides his wife Peggy, Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tony.

There will be no formal funeral services for Ron. According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Carolyn Kay Osborne, 82, of West Burlington, died Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 26, 1940 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Harry Otto and Viola Knoll Peterson. She married John Osborne on Sept. 29, 1956 in Burlington. He died Aug. 20, 2018.

Carolyn worked with the United States Post Office in Blue Grass, Iowa and Rock Island, Illinois, Bendix in Davenport, Iowa and in her early years she worked for Sylvania and Wicks N Sticks.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting, crosswords, traveling with her husband, participating in mail order contests, watching soap operas and playing games on her Ipad.

Carolyn is survived by her three children; Dawn (Bill Jr.) Sweeney of Blue Springs, Mo., Angela (Brent) Hicks of Melissa, Texas and Darl (Diane) Osborne of Davenport; six grandchildren, Brent, Theresa, Dustin, Danielle, Darrin “Biggie Boy” and Taylor “T.J”; nine great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Ava, Vincent, Maya, Joey, Elena, Chris Jr., Marcus and Amir all of which she loved dearly; four siblings, Connie Creighton, Larry Peterson, Ronnie Peterson and Brenda Smith all of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John and four sisters and one brother.

The funeral service for Mrs. Osborne will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15 at Lunning Chapel. Interment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service.

A memorial has been established for the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.

Lesley Diane Yaley, 58, of Danville, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospital, West Burlington. She was born May 23, 1965, in Springfield, Mo. to Jon Gilbert and Elizabeth Ann Mariner Porter.&nbsp;She was a 1984 graduate of Danville High School where she played violin and clarinet and had an excellent soprano singing voice. She was member of the New London Christian Church where she was the children’s leader and youth volunteer.

On Jan. 19, 1985, she married Brian Todd Yaley in Danville. She worked at Walmart Distribution and as a librarian at Clark Elementary School. Lesley loved children and enjoyed babysitting. She enjoyed kayaking, fishing in Northern Minnesota, and attending Old Threshers. On Sundays, she ran the TV watching football, especially the Packers. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved being at home.

Survivors include her husband; her son Jacob “A.J.” Yaley of Mount Pleasant; her mother of Addington Place, Mount Pleasant; sister Mary Porter of Layton, Utah; nieces and nephews; cousins; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father.

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Yaley will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at New London Christian Church with Pastors Rod and Nathan Cooper and her son Jacob officiating. Gloria M. Jewett, 78, of Burlington, died Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals &amp; Clinics in Iowa City.

Born Feb. &nbsp;9, 1945, in Iowa City, she was the daughter of James Monroe and Maxine Kathryn James McCarl. On Sept. 14, 1963, she married Gary Leon at the little brown church in Nashua, Ia.&nbsp;

She was a graduate of Mount Pleasant Community High School in 1963. She then attended Iowa Wesleyan College and graduated&nbsp; as Summa Cum Laude, with her bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education in 1981.&nbsp;

Gloria was a teacher for 28 years and worked for AEA and Burlington School. She was awarded the Walmart Teacher of the Year and also was given special recognition from UMW.

Gloria was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Sarah Circle, Circle of Friends, Card Ministry, Pastoral Care, Birthday Club, Des Moines County Historical Society, Friends of Burlington Library and the Des Moines Retired School Personnel. She was a board member of the Kings Daughter &amp; Sons. She also helped with Communion delivery and was a hospice volunteer. Gloria enjoyed sewing, making cards, reading, gardening, and visiting area parks with her grandchildren. She also liked doing sudokus, spending time with her family and friends especially with her grandchildren. She collected Precious Moments and loved going to garage sales and tag sales.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include four children; Brian (Melissa) Jewett of Solon, daughter, Lisa (Jeremy) McDowell of Ottumwa, daughter, Alicia (Paul) Ekermans of Papillion, Neb., and&nbsp; Darren (Mitty) Jewett of Overland Park, Kan.;&nbsp; seven grandchildren, 14 nieces and nephews; and ex-husband, Gary Leon Jewett of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Carolyn Anderson and June Norton, and four brothers, Robert, James, William and Frank McCarl.

The memorial service for Mrs. Jewett will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2023, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jack Edmisson officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at The Loft on Jefferson following the service.

Eugene Joseph "Jeep" Bredar, 95, of Burlington, died Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born March 3, 1928, in Davenport, he was the son of Lorenz and Alice Munchrath Bredar. On Aug. 8, 1953, he married Jeanne Belle-Isle Norton in Burlington. She died on April 20, 2007.

He attended St.Ambrose University and graduated with a business administration degree. Eugene was an entrepreneur at heart,&nbsp; involved in sales and marketing and various other things throughout his life. However, he spent the last 20 years of his career in the beauty supply industry.

He was proud to be a United States Army veteran and served during the Korean conflict.

His Catholic faith was very important to Eugene, and he instilled those values in his children. Eugene was active at Divine Mercy Parish as an usher and lector for many years. He was very involved in the creation and development of Notre Dame High School. He helped to start Steamboat Days in Burlington and he was a past member of Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce and the Jaycees among others. He was very active in the community. Eugene enjoyed playing golf and wood working. He loved creating elaborate prank gifts for his grandkids, he was known to be a jokester, always very competitive, and always planning a bet or playing a game.

Survivors include his two daughters, Lisa (Mike) Robinson of Wentzville, Mo. and Molly (Scott) Smith of Burlington; four sons Patrick (Tammy) Bredar of Burlington, Michael (Vicki) Bredar of Burlington, Barton (Radonna) Bredar of Danville, Ky., David (Andrea) Bredar of Charlotte, N.C.; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joan (Jim) Cleary of Athens, Ga.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Bredar and sister Rita Schebler.

Tami Jean Hart Maddox, 52, of Burlington, died on June 7, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Tami Maddox was born on April 16, 1971 to Virgil and Betty Howell Hart in Fort Madison.&nbsp;

After Tami graduated from Burlington Community High School in 1989, she worked as a CNA. For the last ten years, Tami was an assistant manager at Casey’s General Store in Middletown.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Tami was a loving mother to her treasured children: Phillip Andrew Hart, Austin Michael Maddox and Katy Kileen Maddox.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Tami was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp;

She is survived by her devoted companion, Dave Hamlin; brothers and sisters - Mary Kathryn Hart, Keosauqua; Virgil Hart, Virginia Beach, Va.; Susan Hart, Ankeny; Valerie Canby, Peosta; Douglas Hart, Solon; Lori Levins, West Branch; Bradley Hart, Ft. Madison, and Betty Hart, Burlington. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Tami cherished all the time she spent with her children, her companion, Dave, and all her other family members and friends. She also loved art and was always very creative.

In her final wishes, Tami requested no memorial service or funeral.

She wishes to be remembered and acknowledged as a hard-working, loving mother; loyal and ideal sister and friend; and someone who found value in everyone and time to love and encourage them.&nbsp;

Tami’s passing leaves our hearts hurting, but her memory will live on through all of us blessed to know her and love her.

Larry J. Warth, 71, of Sperry, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at his home.

Born Aug. 25, 1951 in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Milo and Mary Kludy Warth. He married Rhonda Jones on June 27, 1970.

Larry was a farmer in addition to working for J.I. Case until his retirement in 2002. After his retirement he worked part-time for Wilbert Vault Works Inc.

Farming was Larry’s passion. He served on the Sperry Elevator Board of Directors for many years. He loved attending Snow Bull and served on the board of directors. He was active with the Des Moines County Fair and served on many fair committees along with multiple saddle club boards. He was a little league coach and attended all of the sports and activities of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Warth of Sperry; his children, Tim (Nakay) Warth and Tina (Jeff) Linden both of Sperry; grandson, Cody (Courtney) Warth and two great-granddaughters, Saige Warth and Adalyn Warth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Ty Warth and his father and mother-in-law Merl and Opal Jones.

Memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Fair for 4H Activities and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.

According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at the family farm, Sunday June 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. &nbsp;

Larry J. Warth

Lisa Jean Shackleford, 40, of West Burlington, died suddenly Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center. As a registered organ donor, she was able to help numerous people through her generous gift.

Born Oct. 30, 1982, in Iowa City, she was the daughter of Dennis and Anne Klein Aney.

Lisa graduated from Burlington High School in 2001. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She married Jason Shackleford on Sept. 3, 2005, in Burlington.

Lisa was a legal assistant at the Beckman Law Office for eight years. She was an avid reader and liked baking. She enjoyed going to the cabin on the river and hunting. She loved taking care of her family and her dog, Izzy.

Survivors include her husband Jason of West Burlington; two sons, Jesse Shackleford and Kyle Wisbey, both of West Burlington; her father Dennis Aney of Burlington; one sister Maria Aney of West Burlington; three brothers Adam (Heidi) Aney of Burlington, Daniel (Kellie) Aney of Burlington and Michael (Kirsten) Stastny of Poplar Grove, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Anne Aney, uncles Bob Klein and Bill Klein, aunt Barb Siegler, maternal grandparents, and paternal grandparents, and cousins Mary Christine Platz and Jade Klein.

The funeral service for Lisa will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at Lunning Chapel with the Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Lunning Chapel.

Per Lisa’s wishes, cremation will be accorded after her services.

 </figure>Lisa Jean Shackleford, 40, of West Burlington, died suddenly Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center. As a registered organ donor, she was able to help numerous people through her generous gift.Born Oct. 30, 1982, in Iowa City, she was the daughter of Dennis and Anne Klein Aney.Lisa graduated from Burlington High School in 2001. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She married Jason Shackleford on Sept. 3, 2005, in Burlington.Lisa was a legal assistant at the Beckman Law Office for eight years. She was an avid reader and liked baking. She enjoyed going to the cabin on the river and hunting. She loved taking care of her family and her dog, Izzy.Survivors include her husband Jason of West Burlington; two sons, Jesse Shackleford and Kyle Wisbey, both of West Burlington; her father Dennis Aney of Burlington; one sister Maria Aney of West Burlington; three brothers Adam (Heidi) Aney of Burlington, Daniel (Kellie) Aney of Burlington and Michael (Kirsten) Stastny of Poplar Grove, Ill.She was preceded in death by her mother, Anne Aney, uncles Bob Klein and Bill Klein, aunt Barb Siegler, maternal grandparents, and paternal grandparents, and cousins Mary Christine Platz and Jade Klein.The funeral service for Lisa will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at Lunning Chapel with the Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Lunning Chapel.Per Lisa’s wishes, cremation will be accorded after her services.A memorial has been established in memory of Lisa for the family.

Lisa Jean Shackleford

Mary Lincoln, 86, of Burlington, died Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Addington Place.

Born June 16, 1936, she was the daughter of Arthur and Mary Ann Johnson Bloomer.

Mary was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She was a graduate of Burlington Catholic Schools. On June 23, 1956, she married Harold Lincoln in Burlington. He died April 11, 2003.

Mary worked at Champion Spark Plug and loved her job. She worked there for 32 years.

She was a member of Moose Lodge, Eagles, Legion of Mary, and past member of V.F.W. Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed camping, bird watching, biking, her pets, and yard work. She loved taking care of her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a fan of the Burlington Bee’s.

Survivors include her children Tammy Lincoln of Burlington, Ron Lincoln of Burlington, Tim (Vanessa) Lincoln of Newton, and Lori Lincoln of Burlington; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, two sons Randy and Richard, and two brothers Paul and Bob Bloomer.

The mass of Christian burial for Mary will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 12 at Divine Mercy Parish, Ss. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Following the interment there will be a reception/luncheon at Ss Mary and Patrick parish center.

A memorial has been established for The Des Moines County Humane Society.

The family would like to thank the staff at Addington Place and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice for taking care of Mary with great compassion and caring.

Mary Lincoln

Robert Luth, 85, of Burlington, died Monday, June 5, 2023, at the New London Nursing and Rehab in New London.

Born Aug. 9, 1937, in Burlington, he was the son of Paul and Captola Viola Klaus Luth and his stepfather, Lyle Anderson.

Robert liked working on radios, working at Hope Haven, watching TV, especially cowboy, rodeo, and western movies, and most importantly, General Hospital. He also loved watching people, he was always very social and was the official greeter at Friedenheim apartment complex. He was affectionately known as "Tex" by his friends at Hope Haven.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Lyle Anderson.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

A private graveside committal service for Mr. Luth will be held.

Linda Johnson, 76, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 3, 2023, at her home.

Born Jan. 13, 1947, in Burlington, was the daughter of Dorsey Reuben and Lola Francis Unglesbee Heldt. On June 11, 1965, she married Walter Johnson and they later divorced in 1986.

Linda graduated from Burlington High School. She worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for over 30 years.

Linda enjoyed going to the casino, traveling, crafts, and painting.&nbsp; She enjoyed bowling in many bowling leagues and was awarded for 25 years of state tournament play.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Bielser of Burlington; son, David&nbsp; (Katie) Johnson of Mount Pleasant; two granddaughters; Nikita Bielser and Kayla Johnson, and four great-grandchildren; two sisters; Karen Killoren of Hamilton, Ill. and Nancy (Joe) Alrich of Washington.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Barbara Jean, Peggy, and Judy.

Prugh Funeral Service is in care of the arrangements.

Linda Johnson

Donna Rae Pence, 81, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 3, 2023, at her home.

Born Sept. 21, 1941, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Alvin Matthew and Mary Virginia Stuck Rittler. On April 15, 1961, she married Jeremiah "Jerry" LeRoy Pence at St. John's Church in Burlington. He died on June 15, 1988.

Donna was a homemaker for many years. She later became the office manager for Advance Chiropractic Center.&nbsp;

Donna enjoyed bird watching and flower gardening. She was a good seamstress and liked remodeling projects. She enjoyed her many pets over the years and gave many stray cats a place to call home. Most of all, Donna enjoyed her family and loved spending time with "her girls," Jaedyn and Shae

Survivors include her son, Jeff (Michelle) Pence of Burlington; daughter, Alecia (Larry) Riley of Dardenne Prairie, Mo.; grandchildren, Jaedyn Pence and Shae Riley; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Mary Rittler, brother, Richard Rittler, and sister, Cheryl Mary Rittler.

Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials have been established for Burlington Notre Dame Foundation and the Special Needs Foundation.

Doris Dalrymple Landes, 87, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 23, 1935, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Clarence and Sadie Whittlesey Dalrymple. On October 23, 1955, she married Donald Landes at the Sante Fe Methodist Church in Fort Madison. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2022.

Doris graduated from Fort Madison High School. She worked for NW Bell Telephone in Fort Madison for eight years and later worked on the family farm in Denmark, Iowa.

Doris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Middletown and held several offices. She enjoyed planting flowers, reading, taking care of her grandchildren, and loved to make family dinners. She enjoyed square dancing with the Merry Mixers.

Survivors include one daughter Brenda Wilkins of Danville; two sons Russell Landes of Denmark, Iowa and Mark Landes of Brazil; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother Chester Dalrymple of Burlington; one sister Joan (Rolland) Hancock of St. Louis, Mo. and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, one sister Sue Magoon and two grandchildren, Roy and Deanne .

Per her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

The memorial service for Doris will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10 at Lunning Chapel with Jay Clover officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be held on a future date in Long Creek Cemetery.
