Dianne Maxine Boecker, 79, of Burlington, died at 10:19 AM Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 3, 1942, in Zion, Ill., she was the daughter of Donald and Dorothy Varner Lincoln.&nbsp;

She was a graduate of Argyle High School. Dianne's first job was with Sheaffer Pen. She later started working for the Burlington High School in the cafeteria, and retired last year after 41 years.&nbsp;

She was a former member of the Eagles Club and Burlington Moose. She loved to be outside; taking walks, basking in the sunshine, and enjoying the hummingbirds and butterflies in her yard. Dianne liked to dance, shoot pool, play bingo and gambling at the Casino. She was always cooking for her family and like canning.

Survivors include her daughters, Teresa (Terry) Krieger of Middletown, Nancy (Lyn) Fleece of Davenport, and Tara Boecker of Burlington; her significant other of 18 years, Dave Crawford of Burlington; three grandchildren, Miranda (AJ) Fesler of Middletown, Jenna (Kody) Kruse of Danville, and Alan Fleece, currently in the Air Force &amp; stationed in Germany; five great-grandchildren, Carter, Aylah, Zaylan, Jaxson, Kendall, and one due in June; three siblings, Dody Zinnert of Keokuk, Donna Fiedler of Hamilton, Ill., and Dennis Lincoln of Ariz.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dick Lincoln, and sister, Darla Stoneking.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Peter Richardson, 78, of Burlington, died Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.&nbsp;

Born December 15, 1943, in Milford, Mass., he was the son of Allen and Bernice Hofstra Richardson. He married Marilyn Marie Riffel on April 20, 1968. She passed away in 2005. 

Pete graduated from Medway High School in 1962, Dean Junior College in 1964 with a degree in Building Construction Technology, and Bradley University in 1967 with a B.S. in Applied Science. Directly after graduation, he began working at the I.A.A.P as an engineer and worked his way up to the Mechanical Division Manager and Facilities Use Manager, responsible for maintaining all the buildings, roads, vehicles, and utilities within the facility, until his retirement in 2000. He served on the Burlington School Board for six years as a member and president, volunteered with the Travelers Protective Association, provided employer’s support for the Iowa National Guard and Reserve, and served on the Southeast Iowa Airport Authority. His service earned him the Governor’s volunteer award in 1991 and the Ann Parks Human Rights Award in 1995.&nbsp;

Pete was an avid collector, especially of railroad and airplane memorabilia. He could build or fix anything, and would spend hours cleaning and repairing treasures found at flea markets and auctions. He enjoyed visiting with friends and staff during his daily exercise at Great River Health. In recent years he enjoyed traveling and selling memorabilia at railroad and airline shows with his friend, Pamela Varner.&nbsp;

Survivors include his two daughters, Julie Oriano (Anthony) of Riverside, and Jemma Richardson-Bever (Bruce) of Houston, Tex.; and three grandsons, Noah, Nicolas and Nash.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marilyn.&nbsp;

A memorial visitation will be held at a later date. According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.&nbsp;

Memorials have been established for Des Moines County Historical Society or the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy, Cedar Rapids.

Alexis Marie Long, 18, of Burlington, died at 9:43 PM Monday, April 
18, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West 
Burlington.

Born April 23, 2003, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of&nbsp;Natasha Long.&nbsp;

Alexis was very caring and helpful. She loved animals, especially her
 cat, Willow, and her mamaw’s dog, Copper. She enjoyed many outdoor 
activities such as rock hunting, river fishing, and going to the camp 
ground. Alexis also liked to draw and watch funny videos. Music was her 
life; she had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Most of all, Alexis 
loved spending time with her family.&nbsp;

Survivors include her mother, Natasha Long of Burlington; 
her grandparents, Kevin and Kim Long of Burlington; her great-grandparents, 
Kenneth Almendinger, Jr. of Burlington, Bettie Kinkeade of &nbsp;Valrico,&nbsp;Fla.,
 and Gerald and Thena Joy Long; one uncle, Dillon Long of Eldridge; 
one aunt, Nikki (Jeff) Grim of Center Point; two great-uncles, John

Alexis Marie Long

Daniel Herbert Wiedemeier passed away at 08:05 a.m. on April 19, 2022, at
 Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House. Mr. Wiedemeier was born on 
October 11, 1938, in Burlington, Iowa. He was the son of the late 
Herbert and Nola Wiedemeier.
 In 1959, he married Ruth Jane Hunt. He later married Marcia Holmes Marshall in 1988.
 He graduated from Burlington High School in 1956. He attended 
Burlington Junior College for one year and graduated from the State 
University of Iowa with his bachelor’s degree in business administration
 in 1960. He did graduate work at Carlton College, Northwestern 
University, Michigan State and the University of Nebraska. He served in 
the United States Army National Guard for eight years.
 His professional career began with the then Bell System in 1960. He 
later was transferred to Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph in 
Denver, Colorado. When the Bell System was divested, he was transferred 
to American Telephone and Telegraph. During his almost 30-year tenure in
 the communication industry, he was transferred to 14 different cities. 
He was Vice President and Chief Executive Officer for South Dakota. Vice
 President and General Manager for Colorado, Regional Vice President for
 AT&amp;T in Denver, Corporate Vice President- Human Resources AT&amp;T 
New York, and retired as Vice President – Federal System AT&amp;T in 
Washington, D.C. in 1987, and moved back to his beloved Iowa and 
Burlington. 
 After two years of retirement, he joined Farmers and Merchants Bank.
 He retired from the bank in 2000. He has since worked on a part time 
basis with Lunning Chapel.
 He loved his family and enjoyed being with his children and 
grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, spending time at the river cottage 
fishing. He was an avid aviation enthusiast and private pilot.
 Dan has always been active in the communities where he has lived. 
In 1994, he was appointed by Governor Branstad to the Iowa Transportation
 Commission and served as its Chair in 2000-2001. He is a past president
 or chair of the following organizations: Southeast Council-Boy Scouts 
of America, Civic Music Association, Des Moines County Conservation, 
Messiah Lutheran Church Council and Burlington Kiwanis Club, Board of 
Great River Medical Center, Airport Authority.
 He was a strong supporter of the United Way and Junior Achievement, 
working as a volunteer for over 45 years. Awards of recognition seemed 
to follow Dan everywhere. His most treasured were the Boy Scout 
Distinguished Citizen Award and the Burlington Chamber Emmy Award, 
presented in Burlington. He loved his country, Iowa, and always served 
to improve his community wherever he happened to live.
 He is survived by his wife, Marcia; two children, Bradford of Elbert, 
Colorado, and Jane Hill, of Green Way Village, Colorado; one sister, Delores 
Harken of Landsdale, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren. 
 Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Todd.
 Surely Dan has already assumed his position as “Chairman of the Board” hereafter.
 The funeral service for Mr. Wiedemeier will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, 
April 23, 2022, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington, with 
Reverends Ryan Cosgrove and Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be 
at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:30 until

Helen Reynolds, 94, of Mount Union, died at 10:38 PM Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at her home.

Born January 25, 1926, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond Charles and Constance Velma Marsh Sutherland. On February 9, 1949, she married George James Harrison in Burlington. He passed on June 21, 1988.

Helen was a housewife. She was sharp-minded and enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, and playing cards. She liked to watch Westerns and WWE wrestling, her favorite wrestler was John Cena. She also liked to go mushroom hunting, yard sales and shopping.&nbsp;

Survivors include two sons, Bill Reynolds of Mt. Union, and George Reynolds of Burlington; one daughter, Dianna Burtlow of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose York of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Patricia "Pat", two brothers, Francis and Charles Sutherland, and three sisters, Mary Johnson, Dorothy Touch and Margeret Juarez.&nbsp;

Bill Louis&nbsp;Reynolds, 69, of Mount Union, died at 9:34 PM Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Henry County Health Center.&nbsp;

Born August 10, 1951, in Burlington, he was the son of George James Harrison and Helen Louise Sutherland Reynolds.&nbsp;

Bill enjoyed spending his time outdoors hunting, fishing, and 
mushroom hunting. He also liked to work on cars and spend time with his 
family. During the later years of his mother's life, he lovingly 
dedicated his time to caring for her.&nbsp;

Survivors include his daughter, Amity Lovelace of Tennessee; two 
grandchildren; brother, George Reynolds of Burlington; sister, Dianna 
Burtlow of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

David A. Reed, 73, of Burlington, died Monday, April 18, 2022, at his home.
 Born September 3, 1948, in LaHarpe, Ill., he was the son of Richard “Dick” and Adah L. Shafer Reed.
 David graduated from Danville High School in 1967. He served in the United States Army. He was of the Christian Faith.
 He worked at JI Case, and then later was an over-the-road truck 
driver. He spent his retirement years working at Hope Haven Development
 Center.
 David loved to hunt for rocks and arrowheads, gardening and enjoyed 
working on cars. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
 Survivors include his daughters, Jamie (Darren) Sturdivant of 
Farmington, and Sara (Ryan) Garland of Middletown; four 
grandchildren, Lane, Audrey, Marley, Ethan; and one brother, Todd Reed of 
Burlington, IA.
 He was preceded in death by his parents.
 Family will receive friends Sunday, April 24, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Lunning Chapel.

working on cars. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

grandchildren, Lane, Audrey, Marley, Ethan; and one brother, Todd Reed of 
Burlington, IA.
 He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mark D. Ballard, 55, of Burlington, died Sunday, April 17, 2022, after a 
brief but hard battle with Pancreatic cancer, at Southeast Iowa 
Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
 Born November 2, 1966, in Burlington, he was the son of Roger 
and Helen (Murphy) Ballard. He married Mabel Statler on February 16, 
1990; they later divorced. He then married Deana Harmon on December 18,
 2009; they later divorced.
 Mark was proud to serve his country in the Army, serving in Germany during the Gulf War, and serving in Operation Desert Storm.
 He worked for Scotts Miracle Grow in Fort Madison for the last two 
years. He previously worked for Walmart warehouse for over 30 years.
 Mark loved listening to music and cooking. He loved life and had a great sense of humor.
 He is survived by the love of his life, fiance and caregiver, Teri 
Bratton of Burlington; three sons, Chase (Cynthia) Ballard of Ottumwa, 
Riley (Piper) Ballard of Oskaloosa, and Chance Ballard of Burlington; 
one step-son, Randy Ronner of Illinois; three step-daughters, Raegen Bratton,
 Riana Bratton, and Samantha Ronner, all of Burlington; four 
grandchildren, Cyerra, Chloe, Callie and Meadow; his mother, Helen 
Ballard of Burlington; one brother, Eric Ballard of Burlington;&nbsp; one

Donald L. Landes, 90, of Burlington, died Friday, April 15, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
 Born January 26, 1932, in rural Denmark, he was the son of Russell W. and Lucia A. Enslow Landes.
 Donald was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He attended 
Burlington Junior College, where he earned his AA degree in 1957. Donald
 served in the Army from December of 1952 to November of 1954 in the 
Korean War. He earned the rank of Corporal E4.
 On October 23, 1955, he married Doris J. Dalrymple in Ft. Madison.
 Donald worked in tool and die at Sheaffer Pen Company and taught 
precision machining at Southeastern Community College for 27 years, 
retiring in 1995.
 He was a member of the Middletown Presbyterian Church and held several offices.
 Donald received the Instruction Emeritus Award from Southeastern 
Community College in 1995. He enjoyed teaching, square dancing, 
visiting and helping friends and neighbors, and time spent in his 
machine shop. He was a member of the New London VFW Post #7641.
 Survivors include his wife, Doris of Burlington; two sons, Russell 
Landes of rural Denmark, and Mark Landes of Brazil; one daughter, 
Brenda Wilkins of Danville; three grandsons; two granddaughters; 
eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Julia Royer of Burlington; and several 
nieces and nephews.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, one grandson and one granddaughter.
 The memorial service for Mr. Landes will be Monday, April 18, 2022, 
at 2:00 PM at Lunning Chapel, with Reverend Dean Graber officiating. The

Dana L. Harris, 89, of West Burlington, died at 9:35 AM Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born July 4, 1932, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Clarence 
and Nellie Alter. On November 19, 1950, she married Robert James Harris 
in Burlington. Robert passed away on April 21, 2014, after 63 years 
of&nbsp;marriage.

Dana was a Burlington High School graduate.&nbsp;

She worked for H&amp;R Block for over 30 years.&nbsp;

Dana was a member of the First Congregational Church. She loved to 
play cards and was a part of a Bridge club. She enjoyed Mahjong, playing
 Bingo, knitting, crocheting, and fishing. Dana loved being a mom and 
raising her seven children.

Survivors include four sons, Rick Harris of Mabank, Texas, Randy 
(Michelle) Harris of Burlington, Russ Harris of Iowa City, Ryan (Misty) 
Harris of Burlington; two daughters, Pam (Jim) Lowry of Flower Mound, Texas,
 and Lori (Doug) Coakley of New London; 15 grandchildren, Matt, Brad, 
Andy, and Luke Weir, Nic Lowry, Abbie Lowry-Ebert, Lauren Lowry-Owen, 
Jake, Kati, Samantha, Brooke, Emma, and Noah Harris, Ali and Josh 
Coakley; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Beverly Fisher of 
Burlington, Linda Kay of Arizona, and Cheryl Herbers of California; andone 
brother, Larry (Marcia) Alter of Burlington.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one

Dennis Lee “Denny” Dickey, 74, of Burlington, IA, passed away on April 12, 2022.
 Dennis was born January 24, 1948, in Burlington, to Frank R. and June
 V. (Wischmeier) Dickey. He first married Dianna Graham. They later 
divorced. Later, his long-time girlfriend was Kim Hollenbeck. His second
 marriage was to Susan McVay. She preceded him in death on October 15, 
2019.
 Dennis was a 1966 graduate of Burlington High School. He attended 
Southeastern Community College. He was a US Army veteran. He had many 
different vocations over the years. He often said his favorite was 
working at the Dairy Queen as a teenager. He also worked at the IAAP, 
for Red Messer’s Carpet Service, and retired after working for 30 years 
for the Burlington Community School District. He helped to build some 
houses in Burlington, including his own.
 Dennis enjoyed riding his dirt bike when he was younger, camping, 
hunting and fishing. He enjoyed water skiing, swimming, boating and 
spending time at his cabin on the Mississippi River. He liked to garden 
and planted over 50 different kinds of trees on his property. He enjoyed
 feeding the wildlife around his place. He enjoyed woodworking and 
drawing. He was very artistic in many ways and usually had several 
different projects going on. He enjoyed vacationing, especially to 
Alaska and Mexico. During one trip to Mexico, he caught a large marlin 
that he was thrilled to bring back as a trophy. He was an avid collector
 of Cracker Jack memorabilia.
 Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, his parents, and one sister, Jerri Sue in childhood.
 He is survived by two daughters, Lindsay and Michelle; one son, Jesse;
 one grandson, Jasper; two sisters, Nancy (Tim) Burgus and Linda Dickey; 
one brother, David Dickey; three nieces; one great-niece; and several 
cousins.
 It gives his family great comfort to know that Mr. Dickey was a 
believer and was baptized in the Christian faith, and that he has “gone 
fishing” in Heaven with the greatest of all fishermen, Jesus Christ.
 There will be a private family graveside service with military honors. 
 The family requests that no donations or flowers be sent. The family

passed on to the Lord Friday, April 1, 2022, at his residence.
 Born June 8, 1990, he was the son of Bradley E. and Tina P. Lundeen Smith, &amp; brother of Casey and Caleb Smith. 
 Andrew graduated from Burlington High School in 2009. He also 
attended Southeastern Community College. He was of the Christian Faith.
 Andrew was a devoted and honest hotel clerk at the Holiday Inn 
Express. He enjoyed hunting and wrestling and motorcycles. He enjoyed 
hanging out with his niece and nephew as much as he could, playing 
catch, riding dirt bikes and teaching them to play card games. He was 
great at helping with landscaping and other outside or inside jobs for 
his mother at her house in Burlington. He enjoyed playing golf, 
swimming and playing games with his family.
 Survivors include his mother, Tina Carson of Burlington; brother, 
Casey (Amanda) Smith, and his children, Carter and Adrianna of Dewitt,&nbsp; 
brother, Caleb (Katie) Smith of Mt Pleasant; his aunt Cindy (George) 
Ricks of Eolia, Mo.; his paternal grandmother, Wanda Smith of Burlington; 
his uncles, David (Laura) Smith of Ft Worth, Texas, Gary (Kay) Smith of New

Ross Steven Hartman, 62, of Burlington, Iowa, died at 10:23 AM on Monday, April 11, 2022, at his home, surrounded by family.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Born January 19, 1960, in Burlington, he was the son of Norman Gerald
 and Donna Marie Hartman. He married Sandra Lee Sommerfeld on May 21, 
1983, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), in Burlington. 
She passed away on February 20, 2013, after 29 years of marriage.

Ross was the Owner/President of Southeast Iowa Garage Door 
Specialists in Burlington, since 1987. He was a member of First 
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), in Burlington.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was an avid animal lover, and recently added “Caesar” to his 
family along with “Bailey”. He had a special knack on being able to 
figure out mechanical issues. His hobbies included, NASCAR racing, 
riding his bright red “trike”, a Harley Davidson, an avid Iowa Hawkeyes 
fan and he was a member of CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association). He 
enjoyed the beach, spending time with his family, grandsons and friends.

Survivors include his two sons, Jacob (Taylor) Hartman of Windsor 
Heights and Brandon (Taylor) Hartman of Burlington; one daughter, Megan 
Hartman of Burlington; one sister, Beth (John) Bliven, St. Louis, 
MO; two grandchildren, Harrison and Holden Hartman; his mother-in-law, Jane 
Sommerfeld of New London; one brother-in-law, Jeff (Sharlene) Sommerfeld; 
one sister-in-law, Patty Harris-Johnson of Burlington; and several nieces 
and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Omina Rae “Mike” Askew, 93, of West Burlington, died Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington. Born March 27, 1929, in Franklin, Ill., she was the daughter of Russell Scott and Velma L. Chapman Rawlings. She married Paul Loren Askew on Nov. 26, 1947, in West Burlington. He died Oct. 14, 1970. Omina was a 1947 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of West Burlington United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in her yard and keeping her house spotless. She loved watching the Green Bay Packers play. Survivors include her two daughters; Paula (Dave) Elledge of Gladstone, Ill. and Nancy Askew and the late Steve Brown of Burlington; two grandchildren, Paul Leslie Elledge of Gladstone, Ill. and Lauren Camille Brown of San Francisco, Calif.; five half-sisters and several wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and great neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Russell Chapman Rawlings; one sister Peasche Reid; and one son-in-law, Steve Brown. The memorial funeral service for Mike will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at Lunning Chapel. Masks will be available for the service. Elvin Leslie "Frog" Swailes, 83, of Burlington, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

He was born at home on January 22, 1939, in Danville, to Leslie Alfred and Florence Luella Whaley Swailes. He married Linda Sands in 1960 and they had two daughters.&nbsp; He worked at the telephone company and then at TRW/IRC starting as a mechanic, then foreman, and then supervisor.&nbsp; When his children were young, he was very involved in Boy Scouts, spending many years as a leader and teaching Eagle Scouts. He loved being outdoors and camping. He was an ornery prankster, a trait he never outgrew. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. After a long separation, he and Linda divorced.

On October 22, 1979, he married Martha Viola Shovestull Reitz in Oquawka, Ill. They were members of Grace United Methodist Church. Frog was a true self-taught troubleshooter who could fix just about anything. He and his wife Marty acquired several properties over the years which they enjoyed managing. While growing their business he worked at Exide and BMC in Facilities Maintenance.

Their hobby was traveling with some of their favorite trips being to Ireland and China. They also loved taking their grandkids on special vacations to make forever memories.

Survivors include wife, Martha Viola Swailes of Burlington, Frog’s two daughters, Tammy Swailes of Ukraine, Lisa Swailes of Spring, Texas; one sister, Darlene (Jim) Hanson of New London, two step-sons, Clayton (Susan) Reitz and Walter Burton Reitz II, both of Burlington, two step-daughters, Dianna (Jim) Murray of West Burlington, and Denise (Dutch) Deitrick of Mediapolis, six grandkids and four great-grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Delores Crees and Luella Moore.

The funeral service for Frog was&nbsp; Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Tamara Wirt officiating.

Cremation will be entrusted to the Prugh Crematory following the service. Burial will take place in Grant Cemetery in Rome, Iowa at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Wounded Warriors Project.

Marleen Vivian Beck, 87, Danville, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born August 31, 1934, in Burlington, she was the daughter&nbsp;of Lester Elner and Ruth Mary Rice Beck.&nbsp;

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1956 from the William Jennings Bryan University in Tennessee. She also received her Masters in Christian Ministries from Wheaton Bible College in Illinois.

Marleen taught Christian education in Korea, South Korea, New Jersey, and Illinois. She was a missionary for 25 years in South America and was the Woman's Dormitory Advisor at the Ocana Bible Institute in Columbia.

She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Danville and taught classes during Vacation Bible School. She was a minister and advocate for our local Hispanic population. Marleen was active in the Danville Library's Genealogy Department. She was a hard worker and tended to a vegetable garden and fruit tree orchard. She also had an appreciation for antique cars because of her hours she had spent with her father restoring them.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Virginia Beck of Danville; brother-in-law, Richard Gibson of Danville; nieces and nephews, Elaine (John Pihlblad) Beck of Waukee, Dave (Christa) Beck of Mediapolis, Doug (Edith) Beck of Burlington and Julie (Doug) Snavely of Danville; three step-nieces and nephew; and 13 great-nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Donald Beck, and sister, Marjorie Gibson.&nbsp;

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the family to receive friends on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

Sandra left this world to be with her loved ones in heaven on Sunday, April 10, 2022.

Born July 6, 1941, in Eureka, Ill., she was the daughter of William Aurthur and Vera Ibbotson Gibbs. On April 3, 1960, she married Larry Laverne Sandy in Bethany Lutheran Church. He died on February 14, 2017. They were happily married for 57 years.

She attended Saunderson Grade School, Horace Mann, and graduated from BHS in 1959.&nbsp;

After working briefly for Dr. Kratz as a dental assistant, she spent 28 years at Exide Corp. retiring in 2001. At age 60 she spent 2.5 years at SCC.

Sandra was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for over 70 years. She belonged to the Rebecca Circle and WEICA. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Burlington Aerie 150 and UAW 1829. Sandra loved to shop and collected many purses over the years. She enjoyed reading and watching her favorite sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and the St. Louis Blues.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Sandy and Jim Sandy both of Burlington; grandson, Grant Sandy of Burlington; sister, Donna Miller of West Burlington; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Stevenson of Gladstone, Ill. and Becky Brill of Burlington; two nephews and three nieces.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Garrett; daughter-in-law, Renee; and three brothers-in-law.

Rodney Williams Sr., 54, of Burlington, died at 9:23 AM Thursday, March 31, 2022, at his home. Born December 1, 1967, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Joe and Gloria Jean Williams. Rodney worked several odd jobs throughout his life. He liked to play cards, dominoes and basketball. He was a Chicago 
Bulls fanatic, and a big fan of the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago White
 Sox. He loved to cook, making the best stuffing, ribs, and rib eye

 </figure>Rodney Williams Sr., 54, of Burlington, died at 9:23 AM Thursday, March 31, 2022, at his home. Born December 1, 1967, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Joe and Gloria Jean Williams. Rodney worked several odd jobs throughout his life. He liked to play cards, dominoes and basketball. He was a Chicago 
Bulls fanatic, and a big fan of the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago White
 Sox. He loved to cook, making the best stuffing, ribs, and rib eye 
steaks. Most of all, he loved his family and friends. Survivors include mother, Gloria Williams of Burlington; significant 
other,&nbsp;Regina LaJoy Brown of Burlington; eight children, Rodney (Viola 
Wright) Harris, Sr. of Chicago, Ill., Rasheim (Danielle) Twine, Akheim Twine, Sr., &amp; Jakheima Twine, all of Calif., D'Amaris Gibson and Dachia Gibson, both of Columbus, Ohio, LaTreveya Williams of 
Burlington, Hezekiah Heidelberg of Cedar Rapids, Tamia Tish of

Rodney Williams, Sr.

Janet D. Snowden, 83, of Burlington, died Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington. Born July 15, 1938, in Charles City, she was the daughter of Rex and A. Josephine (Taylor) Havenhill. She married Jack Snowden on June 29, 1968. He died July 10, 2003. Janet spent her first three years in Charles City. When her father suffered a broken back and was in a body cast, they moved to rural Wapello, where the family could help take care of him. It was at this time, she started her nursing career, by taking care of him. As she grew up, Janet was active in girls and boys 4H and played basketball. She was salutatorian of her senior class and graduated from Wapello High School in 1956. From there she went to nurses training in Burlington. She had the experience of taking her psych training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and made the trip there by train. She graduated from Burlington Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She continued her nursing career in Burlington, first in the E.R., then as Head Nurse in Central Supply, and later in administration until her retirement. She was a member of the Jane A. Delano Nurses Association. Janet enjoyed being outside gardening and reading. She collected snowman figures and China teacups and enjoyed spending time with friends and listening to country music, especially Patsy Cline. Family was always a central part of her life as she was growing up with many family get togethers for birthdays, holidays, and special events. In later life, Janet most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and going to watch their sporting events. Survivors include her three children; James Snowden of Burlington, Deanna (Bill) Burke of Denmark, Iowa and Kelly Wilson of Texas; grandchildren Lexy (Eric) Mitchell of Ft Madison, Iowa, Lacy (Travis) Gustafson of Denmark, Iowa, Lany Burke of Denmark, Iowa, Tucker Wilson of Texas and Devon Wilson; great grandchildren Aiden Mitchell, Aubryanna Gustafson and Mason Gustafson; she was the best big sister to Mary (Stephen) Anderson of New London; and cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter, Cheryl Snowden. The funeral service for Mrs. Snowden will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Dean Graber will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Memorials have been established for the Jane A. Born January 21, 1929, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond and Hazel Josephine (Swanson) Reckner, Sr. Donna graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1947. She married Donald E. Kerns July 4, 1948, in Burlington. He died December 24, 2006. Donna was a police officer in Torrance, CA, from 1950-1965. She was a payroll clerk for Exide Battery for 11 years, and also worked for H&amp;R Block, IAAP and Glad Hand. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was a member of the E.C. Blackmar Chapter of O.E.S. Donna enjoyed making quilts, knitting, sewing, crocheting and playing cards, especially bridge and euchre. Donna liked to paint and she was a volunteer in the Day Surgery Unit of Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her daughter, Laura Lee Hopkins of Burlington; grandchildren, Mark (Stacy) Hopkins of Milford, MI, Brian (Tammy) Hopkins of West Burlington, Amanda Carruthers and Kyle (Laura) Carruthers, both of Burlington; nine great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Gail Ann Kerns, brother, “Sonny”, brother and sister in infancy, and one great grandchild. Douglas Dean Johnston, 72, of Burlington, died at 4:50 PM Monday, April 4, 2022, at his home. Born July 25, 1949, in Burlington, he was the son of Delmer Hartman and Patricia Ann Walsh Johnston. He was a 1967 graduate of Morning Sun High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from 
January 17, 1968 until November 6, 1971. He served on the SS Midway. Doug worked at Federal Mogul for 18 years as an electronic technician. He was a homebody who kept to himself. He loved movies, loved his country, and was very proud of his service in the Navy. Survivors include his five siblings, Dan (Deb) Johnston of Roseville,
 IL, Rose Schneider of Winfield, IA, Fran VandenBoom of Burlington, 
Tammy Reyes of Wapello, IA, and Jim (Kay) Johnston of Wapello, IA; and 
many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brother-in-laws, and one niece. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. There will be a memorial service for Mr. Johnston at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages people to make a donation in Doug's name to your local V.F.W.

 Born, December 15, 1965 in Burlington, he was the son of Lyman Gene Baker and Caryl A. Logan.
 He married Jacqueline L. Whitehair on September 9, 1990 in Burlington. Mark graduated from Danville High School. He was a welder for Flint Cliff Manufacturing. Mark was a member of
 W.I.S.C.R.S. Western Illinois Slot Car Racing Society. If it had 
wheels, Mark enjoyed it-from trail riding on his bike to zooming around 
the go kart track to building and racing slot cars. He loved playing 
with his grandkids!
 Survivors include his wife Jackie; children Julie Whitehair of 
Burlington, Jessica (Esteban) Serrano of Marshalltown, IA, Jeanette 
(Kody) Burr of Burlington; four grandchildren Haley, Justin Jr, Liliana,
 and Apollo; mother and stepfather Caryl and Ralph Logan of Danville, 
IA; sisters Monika Deatsch of Lakeville MN, Rashawn Logan of West 
Burlington; step-sisters Cindy Picton and Sandy Pezley of Keokuk, IA.

Mark A. Baker

Ronald L. Westfall passed away on March 9, 2022, at the age of 71 at his home in Argyle, Texas.

Born in Burlington, Iowa to Dale and Marjorie Westfall, he graduated from Burlington High School in 1968. His baseball skills positioned him as a freshman on the Iowa State University varsity team. A member and President of ATO fraternity, he graduated with a BA in 1972. He earned his MPA from SW Texas State in 1977.&nbsp; Ron spent 22 years in the US Air Force and National Guard flying RF-4 Phantoms.&nbsp;After leaving the active-duty military as a Lt Col in 1994, he joined the flight crews of Federal Express until he retired in 2013.

Ron was married for over 50 years to his high-school sweetheart, Regina Peters Westfall. He is survived by his wife Regina, daughters Angela Westfall Redland and Erin Westfall Roy, his sister Mary Westfall Dehner, son-in-law Joey Roy, granddaughters Alyson Redland, Kathryn Redland, Jillian Redland, and Madelyn Redland.&nbsp; Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia Ward and son-in-law Robert Redland.

Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his love was a beacon of light for all in his family.&nbsp; His battle with serious medical issues in these past years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite many health setbacks, Ron was a hero to us in the end.

Arrangements are being handled through Mulky-Mason in Lewisville, Texas where his family held&nbsp;a gathering of close friends and relatives on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
