Oscar Lee McGinity Jr, 79, of Carman, Ill., died &nbsp;Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. 

He was born Aug. 29, 1943, in Burlington, the son of Oscar Lee and Virginia Bowman McGinity Sr. On June 17, 1961, he married Sandra Polson in Burlington.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mr. McGinity lived in the Burlington area most of his life, moving to Carman in 1995. He was Assistant Manager of Fullerton Lumber Company in West Burlington, prior to his retirement. Earlier, he was employed at Standard Of Beaverdale and Murray Iron Works Foundry. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.

Surviving are four children: Kimberly (Brad) Hall of Burlington, Shelley (Bill) Brissey of Middletown, Brian (Danyelle) McGinity of Land O Lakes, Fla., and Lori (Jay) Chenoweth of Wapello, ten grandchildren: Natalie Lambert, Aaron Hall, Marissa Hall, Megan Hope, Jenna Brissey, Brandon Chenoweth, Bailey Chenoweth, Austin Baughman, Callie Baughman, and Hunter Baughman, seven great-grandchildren: Lane and Macie Lambert, Reese Hall, Carson, Callie, and Corbin Hope, and Kameron Redd, one sister: Debra (Kevin) Ryner of Burlington, and three brothers: Kenneth (Darla) McGinity of Ozark, Ala., Michael McGinity and Jim McGinity, both of Burlington.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas McGinity.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Beatrice Ilene Frank, 96, was born on Aug. 25, 1926, in Iowa City, Iowa to Lloyd Walter and Eva Ruth Terhune Lincoln. Ilene died on Jan. 23, 2023. She was married to Donald R. Frank on&nbsp;Nov. 30, 1946 in Algona. Don died on Feb. 3, 2005, after 58 years of marriage.

Ilene graduated from West Branch High School in 1944. She graduated from Burlington Beauty&nbsp;Academy in 1946. She was a hairdresser for nearly 50 years, owning the West Hill Beauty Shop.

After her retirement, she remained very active. She volunteered at the Des Moines County Historical&nbsp;Society, served as a precinct chairperson for elections, conducted cooking classes at the Heritage&nbsp;Museum, and organized her family reunions and genealogy.

Survivors include his son, Warren Frank, sister Donna McIlrath of DeKalb, Ill., numerous nieces and&nbsp;nephews, and lifelong friends James Miller, DC, and Mary Rae Schnedler.

Funeral services for Ilene were held at the Lunning Chapel &nbsp;Friday, Jan. 27, 2023. Private burial will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and four siblings.

The family requests no flowers. A memorial fund has been established for the Des Moines County&nbsp;Historical Society.

Beatrice Ilene Frank

Shane Richard Nichols, 51, of Burlington, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 4, 1971, in Havre, Mont., he was the son of Joe and Sally Nichols.

He was a graduate of Burlington High School and Colorado Technical University.

He was an office manager for Midwest Maintenance Service. Prior to that, he was the owner and operator of Burlington on the Move, he worked for Motorola and as an over-the-road truck driver for Transport America. During that time, he read the entire Bible three times.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran from Jan. 10, 1990, until Jan. 7, 1994, serving on board the USS Leyte Gulf during the Gulf War.

Shane was a very generous and giving person who loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a very social person and was known for being the life of the party. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Denver Broncos, and UFC fighting.

Survivors include his parents, Sally and Joe Nichols; three brothers, Lonny (Louise) Nichols of Ashburn, Va., Joseph Nichols of Burlington, and Scott (Bobbi) Nichols of Ottawa, Ill.; two nephews, Ian and Jackson Nichols; two nieces, Katherine Nichols, and Olivia Baker; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; sister-in-law, Heather Nichols; uncle, Bill Fisher; and cousins, Andrew Fisher and Danny Larson.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The memorial service for Mr. Nichols was Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St. with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Full military honors were rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.&nbsp; Private family graveside inurnment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established for Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Shane Richard Nichols

Rodney D. Crowell, 71, of Burlington, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at his sister's home in rural Oakville.

Born Sept. 10, 1951, in Springfield, Ill., he was the son of Marvin and Donna Hoon Crowell.

Rod was a graduate of Burlington High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps., and took great pride in serving his country.

He retired as a Lineman with Alliant Energy.

Rod enjoyed going to the races, river life, and the ocean, and enjoyed having a few cocktails with friends.

Survivors include his son, Chason Crowell; sister, Sherry (Jim) Anderson of Oakville; two brothers, Randy (Angie) Crowell and Jim (Yvonne) Crowell; and many nieces &amp; nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, with inurnment to be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.

Bonnie J. Diercks, 92, of Burlington, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Jan. 18, 1931, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Ervin George and Goldie Marie Haifley Remaly. On March 27, 1948, she married Delbert Milton Diercks in Burlington. He died on Oct. 8, 2014.&nbsp;

Bonnie was a custodian for Surgeons Inc. and Physicians Inc.

She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ for sixty years, She enjoyed helping with the Community Lunchroom at Zion Church, was a&nbsp; junior choir director, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the ladies handbell group "Golden Tones". &nbsp;She was an associated member of the Church of the Painted Hills, Tucson, Arizona, and started a handbell choir in Tucson. She currently was a member of First Christian Church Disciple of Christ. She was a past Matron E.C. Blackman Chapter 306 Order of the Eastern Star and was a 50-year member. She was also a member of the &nbsp;White Shrine of Jerusalem, and Gold Wing Road Riders, and was a member of the American Motorcycle Association for twenty-five years. She also enjoyed camping and traveling around the United States with her husband on their motorcycle. Bonnie was always there to give anyone a hug when they needed one.&nbsp;

Survivors include her son, Ronald (Donna) Diercks of Burlington; daughter, Becky Kemp of Fort Madison; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband of 65 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters, Barbara Diercks, Jeri Moberg, and Amy Jo Martin, three sons-in-law, J.K. Martin, Sterling Scott and Dean Morberg, grandson, Carl Mundt, and one sister, Helen Burrell.

Visitation will be from 2 to 2:45 p.m., with an Eastern Star Service following on Feb. 3, 2023, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

The memorial service for Mrs. Diercks will be 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Reverend Brooke Anthony officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) following the burial.

Tony Von Broeker, 74, of New London, formerly of Mt. Union, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospital, West Burlington.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born Oct. 2, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant to Frederick David and Mable Alice McVey Broeker.

He attended grade school in Mt. Union, high school at Winfield-Mt.Union, and earned his GED while serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war.&nbsp;

He married Patricia Savage; they later divorced.&nbsp;&nbsp;His life partner was Florence Holmes; she died Jan. 1, 2021.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Tony was a journeyman by trade.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed playing cards, watching the Chicago Cubs, spending time with family, and was a member of New London VFW Post 7641.

Survivors include his children Tony (Nickey Long) Broeker II of Burlington, Iowa, and Kathryn Broeker of Mineral Point, Wis.; one brother David Wynn (Patricia) Broeker of Pekin, Ill.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Michael Edward Broeker and sister Deanna Lynn Vensland.

Junior Russell Poland, 51, of Burlington, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born March 30, 1971, in Iowa City, he was the son of James Poland and Pauline Williams Poland Walker.

Junior graduated from Burlington High School.&nbsp;He was a roofer for Brockway Company.

Junior enjoyed playing games on the play station. He liked wrestling. He loved to spend time playing with his dogs Goliath and Auska.

Survivors include his companion of 23 years, Tina Marie Rady of Burlington; three daughters Cherokee Poland of Burlington, Cheyenne Poland, and Lakota Poland of Iowa; one son Dakota Ivan Poland of Ottumwa; one grandson Leon Hartman; one sister Donna Helmick of Quincy, Ill.; two brothers John Helmick and Elvis Poland of Burlington; bonus daughters Jennifer Gerdis Cleland, Christina Throckmorton, Brittnie Nelson, Brandy Gerdis all of Ohio and Jessica Hartman of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother James Poland.

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

Junior Russell Poland

Randyl Jay Pickle, 68, of Mt. Union, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at his home in Mt. Union.

Randy was born July 7, 1954, in Burlington, the son of Richard Jack and Bertha Ann Yaley Pickle.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.&nbsp;&nbsp;On Nov. 26, 1983, he married Mary Elizabeth Hastings.&nbsp;&nbsp;She preceded him in death on July 15, 2020.

He was an electrical lineman by trade and also helped his father on the farm.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time at the lake with his cousins.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was very particular about his acreage.&nbsp;&nbsp;Randy loved kids and doted on the Lane grandchildren.

Randy is survived by his mother of Mt. Randyl Jay Pickle, 68, of Mt. Union, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at his home in Mt. Union.Randy was born July 7, 1954, in Burlington, the son of Richard Jack and Bertha Ann Yaley Pickle.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.&nbsp;&nbsp;On Nov. 26, 1983, he married Mary Elizabeth Hastings.&nbsp;&nbsp;She preceded him in death on July 15, 2020.He was an electrical lineman by trade and also helped his father on the farm.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time at the lake with his cousins.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was very particular about his acreage.&nbsp;&nbsp;Randy loved kids and doted on the Lane grandchildren.Randy is survived by his mother of Mt. Randyl Jay Pickle

Nancy Carolyn Vaughan, 86, of Burlington, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 16, 1936, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arlo Eugene and Florence Mary Timmerman Williamson. On September 25, 1955, she married James H. Vaughan in Burlington. He died June 29, 2002.

Nancy graduated from Burlington High School, where she was a part of the swim team.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She worked at Schramm's in Burlington and even modeled some of their clothes for the paper. Nancy was also a meter maid for The City of Burlington for many years.&nbsp;

Nancy was a member of Burlington First Assembly of God. She enjoyed gardening and had many flower beds. Nancy was very artistic and crafty; including sewing, knitting, making jewelry, stained glass, rock painting, and made quilts for her grandchildren. She also made memory bears for grieving families and Hospice quilts. She volunteered for Relay For Life arranging the luminaries. James, Nancy, and their family built their log cabin together by hand. Nancy was very proud of her homestead.&nbsp;

Survivors include son, David (Pam) Vaughan of Burlington; two daughters, Cindy (Curtis) Neff of Burlington and Diane Vaughan of Biggsville, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Miranda, Melissa, Moriah, James, Austin, Karla, Emily, and Caleb; six great-grandchildren, Darren, Luke, Brianna, Nicholas, Taylynn Jo, and Roland; two sisters, Karen Underhill of Apple Valley, Minn. and sister, Kathy (Robert) Cusick of Mexico, Mo.; sister-in-law, Holly Williamson. and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son Alan Vaughan and two brothers, Richard and Eugene.&nbsp;

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, at Burlington First Assembly of God.

Born April 1, 1933, she was the daughter of Waymon and Eva Goosby Mason Sr. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Burlington.

On July 17, 1999, she married Lawrence J. Istre in Destin, Fla.

Marilyn earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse on Jan. 23, 1987. Over the years she worked for IAAP, Champion Spark Plugs, and South Central Bell as a switchboard operator. Primarily she was a wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband Lawrence, children David Sewell of Dawson Springs, Ky., Mary Horn of Boone, N.C., Rebecca Gittings of Burlington, Sharon Oliver of Rogers, Ark., Steven Sewell of Burlington, Esther Sewell of Bryn Mawr, Pa., Sarah Buras of Burlington, Elizabeth Sewell of Burlington, Sandra Benezech of Madisonville, La. and April Black of Belle Chasse, La.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; Claude and William; one brother and one sister.

Judith M. Erickson, 85, of Burlington, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 26, 1937, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Merle Vernon and Marie Edna Elizabeth Northrup Cohoon.

On Dec. 3, 1961, she married Clinton Erickson Sr. in Monmouth, Ill. He died Nov. 9, 2003.

Judith was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was a packer for Midwest Biscuit. Judith was goofy and funny, always laughing. She loved her family, especially her great-grandson, Braxton.

Survivors include her daughter Kim (Steven) Johnston of Burlington; two grandchildren Christine Johnston and Allen Johnston both of Burlington; great-grandson Braxton Durr; brother Dennis Cohoon of Burlington and sister Sally (George) Starkey of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clinton and one son Clinton Erickson Jr.

The service for Mrs. Erickson will be Wednesday, Feb. at 10 a.m. at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Jeff Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Pam White, 63, of Ottumwa, died Jan. 19, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, surrounded by her loved ones.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was born July 4, 1959, in Burlington to Ronald and Audrey Carter Timmerman.&nbsp; She married Alan Dean White on Oct. 27, 1979.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

A graduate of Burlington High School, she earned her RN license from Indian Hills Community College.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Pam had a long and successful career as a Nurse, touching the lives of many patients and co-workers. She worked at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in many departments, including In Home Health Care and Occupational Health. She also worked as the Nurse at Excel Ottumwa for many years&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Pam loved spending time with family and friends and often would be the catalyst for getting everybody together for a good time.&nbsp; Pam’s love for Halloween would always lead her to have the biggest Halloween party in Southeast Iowa. As much fun as everybody had, Pam was even happier just bringing everybody together. She did this for many events, whether it be a Christmas sweater party, a slip-and-slide down their monstrous hill on Morrell Drive, or just a random dinner night to get everybody together.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Pam enjoyed quiet times at home also,&nbsp; watching murder mysteries on NetFlix, beating her husband in Yahtzee on a nightly basis, and was an amazing cook.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

She enjoyed traveling as well. While she loved going somewhere warm with a beach, a St. Louis Cardinals Game, or a quick trip with friends and family; her favorite place recently was Estes Park, in Colorado, Even if she didn’t fulfill her dreams of becoming a mountain woman and shooting a bear.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

“Pammy” loved her family,&nbsp; especially her grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than shopping and spoiling them with boxes arriving from Amazon multiple times per week. &nbsp; 

Surviving is her husband, Alan; three children, Brett (Leanna) White of Ottumwa, Courtney (Benoit) Igne of Mansfield, Mass., and Austin (Kadi) White of Grimes; four grandchildren, Arthur, Maurice, Leopold, and Breelea; her&nbsp;mother, Audrey Timmerman; four siblings, Tina (Mike) Diewold, Ronald Timmerman, Cheryl (Stan) Barnett, and Kent (Cheryl) Timmerman.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her father; her beloved favorite cat WhoreHay, and not-so-favorite family cat KiKi.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Per Pam’s wishes her body has been cremated. She wanted a celebration of life, providing another last good time and get-together for her friends and family.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

This celebration of life will take place Saturday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m. at the Hotel Ottumwa.

David B. Smith left his home in Ankeny and crossed the rainbow bridge to Heaven on Jan. 20, 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Rodney (Jill) Smith, Andrea Lynn (Heath) Higginbotham, Nathan (Whitney) Smith, Ryan (Natalie) Smith, Matt (Ashley Kay) Smith, Tyler (Nicole Durflinger) Smith, Ben (April) Blunk, Jason Blunk, and Luke Blunk; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; siblings, Steve (Kathy) Smith, Mary (John) Barker, Ginger (Duane Olendick) Smith, and Michael (Lori) Smith; and his beloved dog, Monte.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dave retired from the trucking industry and loved spending time with Judy, Monte, and his children. He enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair for many years, and washing and waxing his truck. He fed and cared for the stray cats in the neighborhood that visited him every day. Dave and Judy (with Monte) would go for rides around area lakes, campgrounds, and auto dealerships, and he would ride his scooter with Monte at his side. He enjoyed camping, large bonfires, and pointing out the stars and planets in the night sky. He had a big heart, loved his family, and will be greatly missed.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Machell Rose Chapin, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, surrounded by family.&nbsp;

The daughter of Jacob and Mary Katherine Hodgerson Moser, she married Doug Kirkpatrick on Dec. 23, 1978. They later divorced. She then married Sean Chapin on Oct. 11, 2003, in Burlington.

Machell owned and operated an in-home daycare for 15 years in addition to working for G. E. for 20 years.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, making doll clothes, time on the river, camping, fishing, traveling to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, sea turtles, motorcycle rides, four-wheelers, her dogs, Stella and Goat, and her zen time on the “healing deck”.

She is survived by her husband; five children, Stacy Reid, Nichole (Micah) Peterson, and Spike Kirkpatrick, all of Burlington, Kayla Chapin of Minneapolis, Minn., and Clayton (Kilene) Chapin of Stronghurst, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Jaydon Badtram, Emylea Hocking, Alannah Peterson, Shyann Hocking, Kinsley Peterson, Macy Peterson, Brooklyn Chapin, Keylee Chapin, Keegan Chapin, Kooper Chapin; great-grandson Lincoln Badtram and great-granddaughter Charlotte Badtram due Feb. 7, 2023; her mother Mary K. Moser of Burlington; sister Celest (Larry) Johnson of Burlington, and brothers, Tom (Lynn) Moser, Jeff Chapin and Ken (Beth) Chapin all of Burlington; several nieces and nephews.

Shane McCampbell will officiate. A celebration in honor of Machell will follow the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Moose Lodge #529, Burlington.

Memorials have been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice and PCI Cedar Rapids.

Clinton James Bowman, 100, of Burlington died Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation facility.

Born April 25, 1922, he was the son of Ole Clinton and Betha Silicman Bowman.

He attended Yarmouth High School and graduated in 1941. He was of the Methodist faith.

On Dec. 2, 1943 he married Marcella Helen Hartman in Burlington. She died Sept. 19, 2013.

Clinton served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a water tender from Sept. 1942 to Nov. 1945. He went on the April 6, 2017, Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Clinton was a lineman for ISU for 33 years. He was a member of the VFW 10102 and the Moose Lodge. He was a founding member of the Blackhawk Auto Restorers and a founding member of Southeast Iowa Antique Car Club.

Survivors include his great nieces, Sandra (Kevin) Shauman of Kirkwood, Ill., and Debra (Danny) Evans of LaHarpe, Ill.; daughter-in-law Barbara Bowman of New London; great-great-niece and nephews Shannon (Felecia) Pence, Amber (Jason) Duncan, Andrew (Erica) Pence, Skyler (Mariah) Pence, Clifford (Tori) Evans; great-great-great nieces and nephews Sidney, Taylor, Sawyer Pence, Jack, Elizabeth, Ames Duncan, William Pence, Adalynn, Levi, Brinley Pence, and Raiden Evans and baby Evans due in April and bonus friend Wayne Schmitz.

Clinton James Bowman

Shirley C. Mundt, 89, of Burlington died Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Jan. 29, 1933, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Paul and Ella Duff Schmitz.

Shirley graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1951. On Dec. 8, 1950, she married William R. Mundt in Burlington. He preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2012.

Shirley was a 71-year member of Bethany Lutheran church where she participated in various church activities. Her greatest joy was sewing for her family. She sewed quilts, clothing, holiday projects and cross-stitched. Shirley also enjoyed shopping, antiquing, and maintaining a well-decorated home. She was a dedicated Cubs fan, staying up to watch every game of the 2016 World Series.

Shirley was primarily a homemaker and also worked part-time at the family business, Mundt Piano and Organ.

Survivors include two daughters Karla (Richard Keith) Mundt of Burlington and Kathy Shriver of Bettendorf; one son William G. Mundt of Burlington; five grandchildren Cameo, Sara, Rob, Audrey, and Danny; two step-great-grandchildren Scott, Steve; six great-grandchildren Andrew, T.J. Carlee, Fisher, Harper, Sawyer; sister Carol Sprock of Stronghurst, Ill.; sister-in-law Molly Schmitz of Burlington and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William; grandson Carl; son-in-law Bob Shriver; four brothers Paul, Kenny, Bill, and Dick; and beloved dogs Missy and Katie.

The service for Shirley will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Pete Hagglund officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Lunning Chapel.

Cynthia Alice Powell, 70, of Burlington, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born June 21, 1952, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles Harry and Patricia Lou Stanbary Powell. On Aug. 16, 1979, she married Jackie Ray Doane in Burlington. &nbsp;He died on March 10, 1995.

She graduated from Burlington High School and was a part of the first graduating class from the new building.&nbsp;&nbsp;

When she was young, Cindy helped her father with his asphalt company and then worked at Midwest Biscuit until the birth of her daughter. Once her daughter was born, she was a stay-at-home mom.&nbsp;

Cindy loved to be outside; fishing and horseback riding. She enjoyed going on day trips and stopping at antique stores. She was an "old hippie" that loved peace symbols, tie-dye and flowers. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Football Fan.&nbsp;

Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline (Aaron Sherwood) Doane of Burlington; brother, Steven Powell of Burlington; niece and nephews, Sara, Daniel, and Joel (Ginny) Powell.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Charles Powell, mother, Patricia Lawrence, stepfather, Larry Lawrence, infant son, Mark, and infant sister, Julie.&nbsp;

Judith Maxwell Moyer, 79, of Burlington, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals &amp; Clinics in Iowa City.

Born September 9, 1943, she was the daughter of Nina Marie Oge and Cloyce Vinton Maxwell. On Feb. 2, 1963, she married Donald Richard Moyer in Burlington. He died on Oct. 13, 2016.

She worked various positions at G.E. throughout her 30 years there and was the manager of the drafting department when she retired.&nbsp;

Judith enjoyed her bible study, antiquing, bird watching, and gardening. She loved her cat, T.C., and was a big animal lover. Judith was very honest and independent but loved to have her family around. She had a way of looking at you that could erase your existence but made sure everyone knew they were loved.

Survivors include her two daughters, Michelle (Scott) Jarrard of West Liberty and Kimberly Rich of Washington; son, Shawn (Angela) Moyer of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Richard Maxwell of West Burlington; sister, Karen (Melvin) Ash of Bonaparte.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Moyer, parents, brothers, Francis "Gene" and Robert "Bill" Maxwell, sister-in-law, Shirley Maxwell, niece, Theresa Leslie, and nephew, Randy Ash.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.

Born Oct.25, 1934, she was the daughter of Milton and Ruth Fulton Wiele.

On Nov. 8, 1952, she married Carl Edwin Schindall in Ft Madison. He died March 3, 2002.

Barbara worked for the Andrew Corporation, retiring in 2001.

She enjoyed traveling, sewing, going to the casino, and being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter Debbie (Gregg) Kerby of Burlington; three grandchildren Jeremy (Jennifer) Nichols, Jered (Jennifer) Nichols, and Brittney Kerby; six great-grandchildren, Colton, Katelee, Michael, Christopher, Taylin, Alayah and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Lewis Smith, her husband Carl, two brothers Fulton Wiele and Thomas Wiele, and one great-grandchild, Allison Nichols.

Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to Lunning Chapel.

Private inurnment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Gregory Mark Lehman, 27, of Burlington, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals &amp; Clinics in Iowa City.

Born May 25, 1995, in Sterling, Ill., he was the son of Mark and Ann (Newman) Lehman.&nbsp;

He was a 2013 graduate of Burlington Community High School and then attended the University of Iowa.

Gregory worked for Conagra in Fort Madison for the last two years.&nbsp;

Gregory loved music and playing his guitar. He could play any string instrument and won the Woody Herman Jazz Award in high school, playing the jazz guitar. He loved absurdist comedy sketches and was always laughing. Gregory enjoyed the outdoors and going on hikes, especially the Smoky Mountains. He had a brilliant mind that could sometimes resemble an encyclopedia.&nbsp;

Survivors include his mother, Ann (Jeffrey) Brotherson of Burlington; father, Mark (Elaine) Lehman of Clear Lake; brother, Jeffrey Lehman of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Olivia Lehman of Omaha, Neb.; maternal grandparents, Ray and Ruth Ann Newman of Orion, Ill.; five step-siblings; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and a brother in infancy, Matthew Lehman.

Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St.
