Michael R. Dideriksen died Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at his home in Burlington, Iowa. &nbsp;He was 60 years old.

Mikey was born March 12, 1963 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Orville and Hazel (Dodd) Dideriksen. &nbsp;

Mikey loved to be the life of the party. &nbsp;He enjoyed hanging out on the river and enjoying the view from his home. &nbsp;He looked forward to Friday night bonfires, listening to Blackberry Smoke, and drinking his Poor Man’s Martini (a beer with an olive). &nbsp;Mikey had a deep love for the outdoors and had many pieces of art showcasing that appreciation. &nbsp;He enjoyed rebuilding classic cars with his best friend, Jeff Jacobs. &nbsp;He liked mushroom hunting with his wife, Beth, and other best friend, Scott Thomas. He enjoyed building puzzles with Beth and spending time with his family. &nbsp;Mikey will be deeply missed, but his charismatic personality and kindness will live on through all who love him.

Mikey’s family include his cherished wife, Beth; his children, Jessica (Jeff) Reynolds, Brittany (Brendon) Reynolds, and Bobby (BreAnna) Dideriksen; grandchildren, Judah and Noah Reynolds, Brooklyn and Lucas Reynolds, and Randi Rae Dideriksen; siblings, Linda (Rick) Rehman, Tony Dideriksen, and Bill (Marie) Dideriksen. &nbsp;Sadly, Mikey is preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Hazel; and siblings, Larry Dideriksen and Bobby Dideriksen.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service.

Mikey’s family will receive guests at Prugh Funeral Service (3940 Division Street, Burlington) on Tuesday, December 12th, from 9-11 am, concluding with a Celebration of Life service at 11 am.

Polly Ann Heitmeier, 64, of West Burlington, died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Jan. 10, 1959, in Macomb, Ill., she was the daughter of Robert Nolan and Hazel Irene Grimm Carson. On June 23, 1979, she married the love of her life Royce Eugene Heitmeier in Burlington, with whom she was able to be married to for 44 wonderful years.&nbsp;

She was a CNA at Great River Medical Center for several years. After leaving Great River Medical Center due to health reasons, she worked at Lowe’s part-time as a cashier. She was a graduate of Burlington High School in 1977 and attended Southeastern Community College for her CNA. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was very active in their lives with sporting and school events and would always be seen cheering them on at every event. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing cards and board games with both family and close friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband and taking drives around town to see nature.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband of West Burlington; her children Stacy Lange of San Antonio Texas, Jackie (Adam) Elmore of Burlington, and Cale (Maureen) Heitmeier of Burlington; her grandchildren Andrew and Emma Elmore, Hayden, Rylee, Gracie and Madison Heitmeier, Kayla, Carter, Jackson, and Grayson Lange; her siblings Debbie Shelor of Kissimmee Fla., Ron (Rori) Carson of Coralville, Randy (Heather) Carson of Greensboro N.C., Becky (Jim) Egerton of Burlington, and Scott (Sharon Huske) Carson of Topeka Kan.; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her son Ryan James Heitmeier, her parents Robert Carson and Hazel Grimm Carson, her brother Daniel Carson, and her parents-in-law Roger and Shirley Heitmeier.

Visitation will be from 12 to 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street, Burlington.

The memorial service for Mrs. Heitmeier will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, with Vern Reed officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the service. Private family burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her son Ryan.

Linda (Stamp) Lemon, 71, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, surrounded by family at Hospice House in West Burlington.&nbsp;

Linda was born June 1, 1952, in Knoxville, the daughter of Darlene Coleman Conway and Carroll E. Miller. She spent a great deal of time with her maternal grandparents in Knoxville, growing up in the church where she developed a love of music and singing. She learned to play piano by ear and participated in choirs at church and school.

Linda married her first husband, Jake Jacobson, in 1973, in Nevada, Iowa, where they made their home and raised two sons, Derek and Laiff. Linda and Jake had a country band for many years and they played gigs most weekends. Linda loved to sing and be on stage, it was her favorite thing. She moved to Burlington where she met her true love, Jim Stamp. They married in 1985. A union that lasted 22 years until Jim passed away. Linda was married three times, but in her words, "Who's counting, Dahling".&nbsp;

Linda was a paralegal and worked for Crowley &amp; Bunger Law Firm for many years and made lifelong friends of her coworkers, whom she loved dearly. She also owned and operated a store in downtown Burlington for a few years called “Guess What?” She then retired and moved to Florida for more sun and fun. She met many more lifetime friends there. After several years there she moved back to Burlington in 2022.&nbsp;

She had a contagious love of life that helped her through even the hardest of times. Linda was faced with a cancer diagnosis only six weeks earlier, but in true Linda fashion, she lived each moment until her last. She maintained that “let’s party” approach to life and enjoyed seeing family and friends until her last breath. She laughed often and had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile. She was a very generous person and was always willing to help others. Linda enjoyed socializing and drinks with the girls, dancing, singing, social media, and crafting. And she loved her cats like family. She was a very generous person and was always willing to help others.

Linda’s family is not defined by blood as she treated everyone like family. She is survived by her sons and spouses: Derek and Teenae Jacobson of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Laiff and Denise Jacobson of Dixon, Illinois. Step-children: Gregg and Christy Stamp Christy Stamp, Louisville, Ky.

Sharon Kay Sutton, 83, of Dallas City, Illinois, died at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at the Oakview Nursing &amp; Rehabilitation Center in Burlington. Sharon was born July 26, 1940, in Dallas City, the daughter of Don and Joan Curtis Hancock. On Aug. 15, 1959, she married Ron Sutton.

Sharon was a 1958 graduate of Dallas City High School. She stayed at home while her daughter was young. She later worked for the United States Postal Service, where she retired from. She was an amazing seamstress, an avid reader, and a lover of cats.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband; one daughter: Kelly (Craig) Petersen of Burlington; two grandchildren, Curt Petersen and Kayla (Brian) Danielson; three great-grandchildren: Peter, Edward, and David Danielson; two half-sisters, Terry Poston and Jerri Hancock and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law: Darla and Jerry Newberry and one nephew, Michael Newberry.&nbsp;

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home. Fred Gardner III, 60, of LaHarpe, Ill., died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at the Macomb Post Acute Care Center, Macomb, Ill. Fred was born March 16, 1963, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Fred and Diane Sickles Gardner. He grew up in the Chicago and Fox Lake, Ill. areas. He worked as a licensed insurance agent for almost a decade and an IT specialist at the railroad for a few years, and held other good jobs before retiring to care for his uncle who was disabled. Fred was a self-taught computer genius, he could resolve any technical problem. Fred was a musician, he played 6 and 12-string acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboard, drums, and did computer/digital programming for music. He had his own music studio in his home. He and his friends, Greg and Mark had a band named, "The Theory" and created an album called, "The Distance Between Us" produced by High Red Desert Records in Lancaster, Calif. He and his brother Mike played together in one of the songs on the album. Just to name a few of Fred's musical influences, he was inspired by Rush, Yngwie Malmstein, Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, Syd's - Pink Floyd, and Liquid Tension.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was an avid storm chaser, he loved driving, he enjoyed taking spontaneous road trips, and he loved riding his motorcycle across state. Fred loved to explore nature and he felt at home being outdoors. He discovered rock bluffs, up mountain roads known as switchback roads, and reservoirs for bass fishing. He loved fishing, taking family fishing trips to Lake Michigan in his younger years, and later, he would disappear in Chicago Forest Preserves exploring and fishing for hours, and go to multiple lakes in Indiana with his buddy, Rich. Fred loved being surrounded by hundreds of acres of woods. Fred also loved the water and took his boat out every chance he got, whether it was stationary in the middle of the lake just fishing or taking friends on boat rides and tubing. He always found the best places to go boating and catch big fish. Fred was always a lot of fun to hang out with. &nbsp;

Fred was a good friend to many, he was the best man at two of his friends' weddings. He was there at the birth of his best friend's son and was the best uncle to him and to many of his friends' kids. Fred loved good food, good conversation, and good company. He loved long philosophical conversations, he loved to eat, but most of all, he loved a good Greek gyro. Fred was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks, and he loved watching the games and having casual sports debates with his uncle and with friends.&nbsp;

He was always joking and was a playful kid at heart. He enjoyed being there as much as possible for his friends and family, and many of his friends became his family. He will be greatly missed by everyone.&nbsp;

Survivors include one brother, John (Stacey) Gardner of Galesburg; one nephew, Christopher Gardner; two aunts, Karen Ruiz and Julie Wiewiora, his life-long best friend and adopted nephew, Amanda Blucher and Matthew Mengarelli; and other close friends, Will Smith, Rich Stricula, and Greg Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; one brother, Mike Gardner, and his uncle, Dennis Gardner.&nbsp;

Fred was born March 16, 1963, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Fred and Diane Sickles Gardner. He grew up in the Chicago and Fox Lake, Ill. areas. He worked as a licensed insurance agent for almost a decade and an IT specialist at the railroad for a few years, and held other good jobs before retiring to care for his uncle who was disabled. Fred was a self-taught computer genius, he could resolve any technical problem. Fred was a musician, he played 6 and 12-string acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboard, drums, and did computer/digital programming for music. He had his own music studio in his home. He and his friends, Greg and Mark had a band named, "The Theory" and created an album called, "The Distance Between Us" produced by High Red Desert Records in Lancaster, Calif. He and his brother Mike played together in one of the songs on the album. Just to name a few of Fred's musical influences, he was inspired by Rush, Yngwie Malmstein, Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, Syd's - Pink Floyd, and Liquid Tension.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was an avid storm chaser, he loved driving, he enjoyed taking spontaneous road trips, and he loved riding his motorcycle across state. Fred loved to explore nature and he felt at home being outdoors. He discovered rock bluffs, up mountain roads known as switchback roads, and reservoirs for bass fishing. He loved fishing, taking family fishing trips to Lake Michigan in his younger years, and later, he would disappear in Chicago Forest Preserves exploring and fishing for hours, and go to multiple lakes in Indiana with his buddy, Rich. Fred loved being surrounded by hundreds of acres of woods. Fred also loved the water and took his boat out every chance he got, whether it was stationary in the middle of the lake just fishing or taking friends on boat rides and tubing. He always found the best places to go boating and catch big fish. Fred was always a lot of fun to hang out with. &nbsp;Fred was a good friend to many, he was the best man at two of his friends' weddings. He was there at the birth of his best friend's son and was the best uncle to him and to many of his friends' kids. Fred loved good food, good conversation, and good company. He loved long philosophical conversations, he loved to eat, but most of all, he loved a good Greek gyro. Donald Robert Manning Sr., 81, of Lomax, Ill., died at 11:57 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the Roseville Nursing &amp; Rehabilitation in Roseville, Ill.

Donald was born Sept. 12, 1942, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Robert and Erma Lee Manning. In 1960, he married Ila Harris. They later divorced. In 1973, he married Cheryl Kern. They later divorced.&nbsp;

Donald was raised and educated in the Mount Pleasant and Washington, Iowa areas. He worked all of his life for Woods Construction in Washington, Iowa. Following his retirement, he moved to the Lomax area to be closer to his family.&nbsp;

He enjoyed going to auctions, camping, teasing, and telling jokes, he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Survivors include two sons: Don Manning Jr. of Four Madison, and Tim Manning of Lomax; four daughters: Bev (Vince) Nixon of Ainsworth, Barb Manning of Lomax, Connie (Shane Downs) Brockett of Lomax and Lesley Cratton of Burlington; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Leroy Metcalf and Larry Manning and one sister: Kathy Cook.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at Grace Bible Church in Dallas City, Ill. Burial will be held at a later date in Carman Cemetery.&nbsp;

Marc Charles Moeller, 69, died Nov. 30 in Mount Pleasant. Marc was born on Jan. 4, 1954, in Denison, the son of George Arnold and Elvera Marie Schultz Moeller. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa. Marc graduated from Schleswig Community High School in 1972 and the University of Iowa in 1976.

Marc married Sharon Mae (Shari) Thompson on June 26, 1982, in Newhall. He worked as an agricultural lender in communities including Keystone, Newhall, Washington, Mount Pleasant, and Pilot Grove. Marc was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Pleasant.

Marc was preceded in death by his parents and older siblings Larry, Connie, and Dennis Moeller. Survivors include his wife Shari; daughter Jill of Lander, Wy.; son Tyler (Josie) and their sons Leo, Hugo, and Otto of Mount Pleasant; and daughter Lisa (Colby) Bycroft of Ankeny; brother Louis Moeller of Atkins; sister Carla (Bob) Schmidt of Pierre, S.D.; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, great friends and helpful neighbors.

Dean Boysen, 87, of West Burlington, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born June 10, 1936, in Denison, he was the son of Henry F. and Inez Childress Boysen and lived with his parents on the family farm in Deloit. Dean proudly served his country in the US Army prior to the start of the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Panama.

On April 22, 1977, he married Margaret Virginia West in Burlington. From this union, Dean gained three additional sons, Larry, Joe, and Donnie. Dean and Virginia also added a daughter DeeAnn to the family. Virginia preceded him in death on June 27, 2019.

Dean was a High Lineworker and Lineman working for Local Union 55 IEBW around his hometown and moving across the state of Iowa until he landed in Burlington. He worked for them for 27 years. He and his wife, Virginia, then ran the Plaza Pub Tavern in Burlington, Iowa for seven fun-filled years, where many friends and memories were made. After leaving the pub, Dean worked for Drain Doctor and many other jobs over the years.&nbsp;

Dean was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. He enjoyed fishing going for walks and helping his neighbors. Dean was a handyman and was always busy working on something or working in his yard. He will be lovingly remembered for his great sense of humor.&nbsp;

Survivors include his daughter, DeeAnn (Scot) Bokhoven of New Sharon; two sons, Larry West of Athens, Ill. and Joe (Marlene) O'Donnell of Burlington; former daughter-in-law, Kathy West; 14 grandchildren, Trisha (Dan), Ryan (Shannon), Megan (Logan), Michael (Shonna), Dezmon (Candice), David (Sarah), Christine, and Caleb; 10 great-grandchildren; Kayla, Tyler, Lauryn, Elizabeth, Makayla, Miles, Micah, Layla, Nolan and Aiden; brother, Don Boysen of West Plains, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife of 42 years, he was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Hubert, Leonard, Melvin, Jim and Joe; one son, Donald Shuster; grandson, Shane West; great-grandson, Hunter O'Donnell and one sister, LaVurne Boysen.

Dorothy Ann Schneden, 94, of West Burlington, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 10, 1929, in Clark County, Mo., she was the daughter of John and Lelia McDermott Ellison. On Dec. 26, 1957, she married Virgil Schneden in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2008.

Dorothy was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking, especially for family dinners, and served many funeral luncheons. She was handy with crafty things and enjoyed ceramics, was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed watching her favorite driver Mark Martin. In addition to being a homemaker, she volunteered for many years at the hospital gift shop.

She is survived by her four children: Sister Peggy Duffy of West Burlington, Lisa Coy of Bettendorf, and Terry (Diana) Schneden and John (Janene) Schneden both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren with one on the way and one sister Mary (Fritz) Schneider of Keokuk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Martha Self, and two brothers Tom Ellison and Pat Ellison.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Schneden will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church of Divine Mercy Parish in West Burlington. The Rev. Father Dominic Nguyen will be the celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Burlington.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.

William Theodore Preuss, 96, of West Burlington, died Dec. 1 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House surrounded by his daughters.&nbsp;

William (also known as “Ted” or “Bill”) was born May 25, 1927, in New. London, Iowa to Loren Elliott and Walter Preuss. He graduated from New London High School. He was a World War II-era veteran, serving in the US Army. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

In 1952, he married Joanne Glenn in West Burlington, where they made their home and raised their family in the years ahead.

Ted worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for more than 20 years. He later joined the Maintenance Department of the Burlington School District.

A friend to all, Ted enjoyed a full, fun, and active life. He loved fishing, golf, bowling, “dropping a few nickels” in his favorite slot machines, working on cars, The Lawrence Welk Show, and spending time with friends and family. He was always up for a great buffet and a drive down to the Mississippi River. He remained in his home after Joanne’s passing in 2008.

Survivors include his three daughters: Martha (John) Kruse, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Nancy Preuss, West Burlington, and Barb (Shelly Albus) Preuss, West Des Moines. Two grandchildren: Brian (Tory) Kruse of Perry, Ohio, and Bonnie Kruse, Omaha, Neb. and. Three great-grandchildren: Avery, Carter, and Braxton Kruse of Perry, Ohio. One brother: Dr. Donald Preuss of Table Rock Lake, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife Joanne, sister Freda McKinnon, many dear friends, and his cherished rescue dogs.

His daughters would like to thank family members, friends, neighbors in Washington Heights, and the team at Advanced Home Health Care for helping him stay safe and happy at home in his later years.

 </figure>William Theodore Preuss, 96, of West Burlington, died Dec. 1 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House surrounded by his daughters.&nbsp;William (also known as “Ted” or “Bill”) was born May 25, 1927, in New. London, Iowa to Loren Elliott and Walter Preuss. He graduated from New London High School. He was a World War II-era veteran, serving in the US Army. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.In 1952, he married Joanne Glenn in West Burlington, where they made their home and raised their family in the years ahead.Ted worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for more than 20 years. He later joined the Maintenance Department of the Burlington School District.A friend to all, Ted enjoyed a full, fun, and active life. He loved fishing, golf, bowling, “dropping a few nickels” in his favorite slot machines, working on cars, The Lawrence Welk Show, and spending time with friends and family. He was always up for a great buffet and a drive down to the Mississippi River. He remained in his home after Joanne’s passing in 2008.Survivors include his three daughters: Martha (John) Kruse, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Nancy Preuss, West Burlington, and Barb (Shelly Albus) Preuss, West Des Moines. Two grandchildren: Brian (Tory) Kruse of Perry, Ohio, and Bonnie Kruse, Omaha, Neb. and. Three great-grandchildren: Avery, Carter, and Braxton Kruse of Perry, Ohio. Alexander Earl Spiker, 48, of West Burlington, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at his home.

Born Aug. 13, 1975, in Monmouth, Ill., he was the son of John L. and Connie S. Whitmore Spiker. On Oct. 7, 2017, he married Linda Liby in Stronghurst, Ill.&nbsp;

Alex attended Oquawka Grade School, Tri Valley Middle School in Gladstone, Ill. and Union High School in Biggsville, Ill., and Southeastern Community College.

He worked for Raiders Pre Cast Concrete, Carl A. Nelson plant services, and most recently for Huffman Welding and Fabrication out of Fort Madison.

Alex enjoyed working on older cars and was always tinkering around in the garage. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed riding motorcycles, boats, four-wheelers, and nearly anything with an engine. The true loves of his life were his son and grandson. Alex loved being a father and grandfather to them.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Spiker of West Burlington; son, Zachary J. Spiker of Biggsville, Ill.; grandson, Ashton Bentley Spiker of Biggsville; Ill. father, John L. (Connie S. Jule A. Bardy, 81, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.

Born Sept. 11, 1942, in Superior, Wis., she was the daughter of Joseph John and Ann Agnes Stralka Sitek. On Sept. 23, 1972, she married the love of her life, David Charles Bardy in Superior, Wis. The couple met when the railroads they were working for merged in 1970.&nbsp;

Jule worked at Burlington Northern Railroad for nine years, Kirlin's Hallmark for nine years, and at Target for nine years.

She was a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards, and going to the casino and she dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, David Bardy of Burlington; son, Randy of Burnsville, Minn.; daughter, Wendy (Art) of North Liberty; three grandchildren, Christine, Eli and Evan; one great-granddaughter, Persephone; three brothers, Joseph (Mary) Sitek of Deluth, Minn., Daniel (Cheryl) Sitek of Superior, Wis., and Conrad (Julie) Sitek of Roseville, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Mary Kay Maki.

The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Bardy will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, at SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the SS. Mary and Patrick Church Hall following the mass. Entombment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Marvin “Roy” Lansing Jr, 58, of Burlington, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital after a 20-year battle with severe health conditions. Born, June 3, 1965, in Centerville, Ill., he was the son of Marvin Roy and Margaret Schaefer Lansing Sr. Roy was of the Catholic faith.

He graduated from Assumption High School in Washington Park, Ill. in 1983. He attended Belleville Area Community College after graduation. He worked for Crescent Electric Supply Company which moved him to Iowa in 1995 as the branch manager in Burlington. He also worked part-time for the Des Moines County Sheriff's Department. He loved working in law enforcement.

On Nov. 4, 1989, he married Betty French Lansing. They just celebrated 34 years of marriage.

Roy was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan and Duke basketball fan. He enjoyed watching both on TV. His best moments were spent with his two boys and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Betty of 34 years; two sons Ryan James Lansing and Tyler Joseph (Allison) Lansing; one granddaughter Natalie Lansing; one grandson Brodie Lansing; one brother James (Jeanine) Lansing; two sisters-in-law Bonnie (Gary) Rohr and Barbara (Robert) Pfeiffer and many nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Carter Joseph Lansing.

Per Roy’s wishes, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.

Robert “Bob” Bliesener,65, died in West Burlington, on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023. Bob was born to Ronald and Roberta Gabeline Bliesener on July 23, 1957, in Burlington. 

Bob made his home in West Burlington. He worked as a contractor for Community Development Group, owned by Brian and Tammy Hopkins, for over 23 years. He also worked for a lot of his “lady friends”. He was the manager for a couple of Tag Sale companies. Bob was very knowledgeable about antiques, collectibles, and primitive junk. Bob loved garage sales, yard sales, and tag sales and was often first in line to get the “best stuff” being offered. Bob could play piano beautifully and never had lessons. Bob was kind to all the stray cats and kittens in the neighborhood, always offering food. Bob always made food for his friends who celebrated holidays as he wanted to share in their celebrations. Bob loved to decorate for the holidays with an emphasis on Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. A quiet man, Bob always was helpful and kind to so many people he knew and strangers he met. Those that Bob knew always could count on him to smile and share something very nice in the conversations. Bob will be missed by many friends. He would always say “Make every day the best you can.” And never say “Goodbye” but “See you later.”

John E. "Jack" Schmidt, 95, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Nov.28, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Feb. 26, 1928, in Ottumwa, he was the son of Clarence and Grace Wren Schmidt. On Sept. 26, 1950, he married Patricia Jeanne Hervey in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 2012. He attended St. Ambrose University. He worked as a purchasing agent for the Kenmar Manufacturing Company in Ottumwa for seven years, then as an upholstery buyer for Chittenden &amp; Eastman in Burlington. He was a salesman at MPI in Fort Worth, Texas for 25 years and most recently, a salesman at Furniture City in West Burlington.&nbsp; He was a U.S. Marines Veteran, serving from 1946 until 1948. While enlisted, he played basketball on the official Marine team. He was of Catholic faith and was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. He had a strong faith and said the rosary daily. Jack was devoted to his family and enjoyed attending family gatherings and spending time at their cabin on the backwaters of the river. He also liked to socialize with his friends at Joe's Inn. He was a great storyteller and had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk show. He was a dedicated supporter of Burlington Notre Dame School and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He followed High School sports across the state and would often comment on which schools had strong teams each year.&nbsp; He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10102, American Legion Post 52, Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.&nbsp; Survivors include his son, Greg (Maureen) Schmidt of Leawood, Kan.; six daughters, Christine (Jim) Corkery of Bridgeton, Mo., Janet Schmidt of Muscatine, Julie (Pat) Kelley, Carol (Larry) Lindhart, Lisa (Mike) Smith all of Burlington, Anne (Chris) Lansing of Davenport; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; two sisters, Sue Tharp of Sheboygan, Wis., Helen Clemens of Ottumwa; and his cat, Pepper. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers, Msgr. Robert Schmidt and Phillip Schmidt.&nbsp; Visitation with the family to receive friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard following the visitation. John E. "Jack" Schmidt

Lonnie Eugene Lewis of Dallas City, Ill. died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at his home. He was born Feb. 14, 1949, in Monmouth, Ill., the son of Everette Eugene and Jane Cordelia Lewis. He only has one surviving child, Bobbie, but he had lots of grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

He was known to be an extremely hard worker who never left something half-done. He was an adamant animal lover who was particularly fond of pugs and went on to start The Good Shepard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Glenda and Rose, his brother Ron, his niece, Tiffany, and his daughter Crystal.

He is survived by his son Robert Lee Lewis of Oakville, his grandchildren, Jeremy, Dakota, Leigha, and Ricky, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home. A service will be held at the Oakville Community Center, 104 East Ash Street, Oakville, on Dec. 2, 2023, at 10 a.m.

The family requests that flowers be sent to the Oakville Community Center and that donations be made to PAWS animal shelter in Fort Madison.&nbsp;

Thomas Swan, 58, of Newton, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, at the Newton Health Care Center.

Born June 26, 1965, in Albia, he was the son of Oscar O. Swan and Naoma Kirby Bristol. On Sept. 28, 1985, he married Martha Fleagle and together they had two children. He later married Tracy Fanning in 2000 and they later divorced. &nbsp;

He was a devoted Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed playing darts, pool, singing karaoke, especially Elvis and KISS. He was also a fan of Junior Talley, an Elvis impersonator.

Survivors include his daughter, Nichole Gonzalez of Burlington; son, Aaron Swan of Farmington; grandchild, Grace; six siblings, Carol (Clifford) Kingery of Newton, Robert (Mary) Swan of San Antonio, Texas, Geoffrey Swan of Helena, Mont., Teresa (Larry) Buck of Burlington, Bradly Swan of Newton and William Bristol of Brownsville, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Swan of Newton, and Gwen Swan of Rogers, Ark.; brother-in-law, Richards Closser of Floris and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Junior, Kenneth, David and Steven Swan; sister, Connie Closser and newphew, George "Joe" Marshall.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. There will be no public visitation. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

Jean M. McKinney, 93, of West Burlington, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at Oakview Care and Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.

Born Feb. 7, 1930, in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances Schroeder Engelmeyer.

After graduating high school, she graduated from Quincy College in 1962, in Quincy, Ill. and earned her master’s degree in music education through the University of Illinois.

She taught music education for elementary students in Hileah, Florida, Griggsville, Ill. and Fort Madison and was an orchestra instructor for 20 years for the Burlington school district.

She was a devout Catholic and member of Divine Mercy Parish and was honored to meet Pope John Paul II in St. Louis in 1999 and Bishop Sheen in Nauvoo, Ill. She also attended services at Faith Temple for many years and other area churches in the Burlington area.

Jean was an avid fossil collector, loved fishing and playing the violin at church masses and visiting and playing for area nursing homes. While living in Mediapolis, she went to the Mediapolis Care Facility every Sunday to share the word of God and her love for music.

She sent monthly checks to India for over 40 years to help support those whom are less fortunate.

Jean resided at Oakview Care and Rehabilitation Center for the last two years of her life and was blessed with the tremendous support of her extended family.

She is survived by her daughter Ruth (Roger) Tapke, of Ellington, Connecticut; son-in-law, Patrick Mullahy of Burlington; four grandchildren, Lisa (Joel) Langley, Teresa (John) VanUtrecht, Sara Varga and Matthew (Sara) Mullahy; ten great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kay Mullahy, one sister Arlene Futrell and four brothers Joseph Engelmeyer, Paul Engelmeyer, James Engelmeyer and John Engelmeyer.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Jean will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1 at St. John Catholic Church of Divine Mercy Parish. The Rev. Father Dominic Nguyen will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A Christian Wake will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 at Lunning Chapel with the family to receive friends following the Christian Wake until 7 p.m.

Larry Dean Clark, 81, of Dallas City, Ill., died at 5:33 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at his home. Larry was born at home in Pontoosuc, Ill., on Oct. 20, 1942, the son Dale and Grace McNaught Clark.

Larry began working in the construction industry at 18 and quickly became a heavy equipment operator. He was a 60-year member of Local 649 Union, Peoria, Ill. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.&nbsp;

Survivors include one daughter: Michelle (Jason) Gold of Dallas City; two grandchildren: Alex Gold and Emily (Dalton) Merry; nine siblings: Dennis McNaught of North Covina, Calif., Rose Davidson of Peoria, Ill., Sandy Penrod of Fort Madison, Curtis Clark of Sacramento, Calif., Dale Clark of Donnellson, Nick Clark, LaVeta Smith, LaVera Leebold and Sheryl Clark all of Dallas City, Ill.; a special friend: Sandra Schertz of Lomax, Ill. and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Sylvia “Sally” Clark, and one brother: Montray Clark.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service for Larry will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Cemetery, near Dallas City.

A memorial fund has been established for Lee County Hospice or the Nauvoo Ambulance Service.&nbsp;

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Henderson’s Highland Park Funeral Home. Immediately following her visitation her funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Valerie James officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. She was of the protestant faith.Survivors include her daughter Marta (Jerald) Frost of Graham, N.C.; three grandchildren Alona Yarnell of Graham, N.C., JerRon (Nyssa) Frost and Jaylen (Ashlee Duerksen) Frost both of Burlington; four great-grandchildren Sunny Yarnell, Teagen Yarnell, Madison Yarnell-Shaw and Jones Frost; brother Jerry (Nancy) Bell of Vicksburg, Miss.; niece Allison (Greg) Bennett of Germantown, Tenn.; nephew Matthew (Haley) Bell of Vicksburg, Miss. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Clyde.The funeral service for Linda will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Lunning Chapel. Interment will be in Long Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.In lieu of flowers and plants, at Linda’s request, a memorial has been established for the education of the great-grandchildren.
