Tony Lee Dideriksen, 73, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington surrounded by his loved ones. Born on Jan. 14, 1951, in Burlington, Tony was the son of Orville "Okie" and Hazel Dodd Dideriksen. Tony graduated from Burlington Community Schools in 1969. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1976, completing two tours aboard the USS Enterprise. After his military service, Tony devoted his career to plumbing and pipefitting, becoming a respected member of U.A. Local 125.

Tony will be remembered as a man who was known for his generosity, warmth, and unwavering kindness, which had a profound impact on many lives. When he wasn’t working, he cherished spending his time with family and friends, whether it was at gatherings, golf outings, or enjoying visits to the casino. Tony took great joy in helping others, from offering rides to an appointment, lending a hand with a project, or providing soothing backrubs that offered comfort and relaxation. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit and the memories he created will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Tony is survived by his siblings, William (Marie) Dideriksen of Waterloo; and Linda (Richard) Rehman of Burlington; sisters-in-law Mary Jane Dideriksen of Florida and Beth Dideriksenof Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Eric (Tina) Dideriksen, Lisa (Yvette) Dideriksen, Amy (Caryn) Dideriksen, Tom (Kathy) Rehman, David (Ginger) Rehman, Janell (Tracy) Martin, Mirranda (Brian) Krohn, Nicholas (Briley) Dideriksen, Marissa (Alan) Schweinfurth, Jessica (Jeff) Reynolds, Brittany (Brendon) Reynolds, and Bobby (BreAnna) Dideriksen. He also leaves behind dear friends Dustin Walker, Ed Patterson, and Mike Niles, along with many other cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Hazel Dideriksen, and his brothers, Larry and Mike Dideriksen.

Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Crematory. At this time, no services are scheduled.

Memorials in Tony's memory may be made to a local veterans group of the donor's choice.

Rick David Wilkerson, 66, of Mediapolis, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born on June 21, 1958, in Burlington, he was the son of Lewis Ray “Toad” and Loyola Wilkerson. He was a 1976 graduate of Mediapolis High School. He married Kathy Southwick on June 11, 1988, in Riverside. She died suddenly on May 27, 2024.

Rick owned and operated Wilkerson Transport for many years until his retirement in 2017. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Dodgeville.

He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved boating, golfing, camping and traveling the world alongside his wife. He was passionate about his yard work and had the best manicured yard in Kossuth. Most important to him was time spent with his family and friends and his beloved cat, Louie.

He will be deeply missed by his two daughters; Amber (Mark) Johnston of Mediapolis and Taylor Wilkerson of Burlington; grandchildren, Jackson (Paige), Madison, Sawyer and Jamey; grand dogs, Piper Jo and Luna; sisters, Anita Vantiger of Mt, Union and Vicki Krizek of New London and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathy and infant son Cecil.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Rick will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 10 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dodgeville. The Rev. Father Dominic Nguyen will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Dodgeville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 9th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.

Billy M. Fryrear, 77, formerly of Burlington, died Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Casa De la Luz Hospice House in Tucson, Ariz.

Born on June 20, 1947, in Macomb, Ill., he was the son of Willard and Helen Long Fryrear. On May 1, 1976, in Burlington, he married Donna J. Zeller.

Bill was a 1965 graduate of Burlington High School. He worked for J.I. Case for thirty years and retired in 2000. One of Bill’s favorite pastimes was boating on the mighty Mississippi River. He was a muscle car enthusiast, having owned a 1968 GTX and Panther Pink Challenger TA. His 1968 GTX was his pride and joy and was featured in Muscle Machine Magazine. Together he and his wife would travel to car shows in Indiana, Ohio and Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife Donna; daughter Shasta (Jake) Bender of Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren: Shalynn Fryrear and Marshall Bender.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his memory for Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

David F. Leebold, 70, of Dallas City, Ill., died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, peacefully at his home.&nbsp;

He was born July 22, 1954, in LaHarpe, Ill., the son of Millard and Viola Jones Leebold.

He is survived by his brother: Gary (Vera) Leebold, his nephew: Jamie Leebold all of Dallas City, niece: Amy (Jared) Hill, and great niece Grace Hill all of Nauvoo, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother: Dennis Leebold.

David had cerebral palsy, but he never let it hold him back. He milked cows one handed and he was good at it. He enjoyed helping on the family farm doing chores, mowing, and clearing out fence rows. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church and attended school at Ferris and Carthage graduating in 1974.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. The funeral service for David will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Menschel officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City.

A memorial fund has been established in David’s memory. Contributions may be made to the David Leebold Memorial Fund.&nbsp;

Catherine (Cathy) Sue Campbell, 74, of West Point, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center surrounded by family.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born March 21, 1950, in Galesburg, Ill., to William George and Rozella Mae Williams Conroy.&nbsp;&nbsp;She married Michael Wayne Campbell Sr on June 30, 1967.&nbsp;&nbsp;She met her new partner in life, Dennis E. McGregor, on Dec. 10, 1985, and they were married Jan. 26, 2010.

She was a 1968 graduate of Galesburg High School and received an associate’s degree from Southeastern Community College in 1990.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cathy worked in retail for Flowerama and Woolworth’s in Westland Mall in the 1970s and early 80s.&nbsp;&nbsp;She then started her life-long career with the State of Iowa, first as a Manpower Aide II, then a Job Service Interviewer for the Iowa Department of Employment Services.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cathy later moved to the Iowa Department of Human Services as an Income Maintenance Worker.&nbsp;&nbsp;She then became a Social Worker II and finally retired in 2010 as an adult worker specializing in elderly and disabled care.&nbsp;&nbsp;After retirement, she opened a rustic primitive consignment store called Starlings Roost on the square in West Point, and later converted it into an aquatic pet store named Gilly Fin’s Island.

She was a past member of the Burlington Altrusa Club and the Burlington Lion’s Club and loved volunteering for various organizations and causes.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cathy loved animals of every sort and was known for her many in-home domestic and exotic pets.&nbsp;&nbsp;She also loved crafting, developing beautiful creations of many varieties over the years, and had a great love of eclectic collections.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis E. McGregor of West Point; a son, Michael W. Campbell Jr. (Krystal Johnson) of Burlington; a daughter, Kristina K. Campbell (Stacy Cleek) of Takoma Park, Maryland; a stepdaughter, Shannon R. McGregor (Carl Shirts II) of Burlington; several grandchildren, Tara (Dan) Bryant, Tyler Campbell, Rayanna Thompson, Lucas Hall Johnson, and Lauren Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Caedan and Aurora Bryant; and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carole Lee (Conroy) Sobotta; a brother, William George Conroy II; and one nephew, Danny Sobotta.

Robert "Bob" Moser, 67, of Burlington, died Friday, Aug.2, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.&nbsp;

Born Oct. 26, 1956, in Burlington, he was the son of William Anthony and Eileen M. Bixenman Moser. In 1975, Bob started dating Lucia Anne Morrison and on Sept. 11, 1982, they were married at St. Mary's Church in West Burlington.&nbsp;

Bob graduated from West Burlington High School in 1974.&nbsp;

Bob worked for B.L. Robinson for 10 years. He then worked for 3E (Electrical Engineering and Equipment) for 20 years from which he retired. His most beloved job in his retirement was cleaning St. Mary's Church and parish center, where he was raised and attended school through 6th grade.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington, select member of the North Walker Community Center and the Optimist Club. Bob loved everything outdoors, including hunting, fishing and boating on the river. He enjoyed going to concerts and was a big supporter of local live music, especially blues music. Bob loved spending time with his family and was a wonderful "Bobbob" to his two grandsons, Trevin and Eastin.

Survivors include wife of 41 years, Lucia Anne Moser of Burlington; son, Jesse (Hillary Walters) Moser of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Shannon (Mitchell) Pforts of Mt. Union; two grandsons, Trevin &amp; Eastin Pforts of Mt. Union; two granddogs, Gemma and Arthur; two brothers, Keith (Cindy) Moser of Burlington, William Anthony (Sandra) Moser, Jr. of Yuma, AZ; and two sisters, Patricia Crowner of Huxley, IA and Linda (Harlan) Schafer of Mulberry, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kevin Moser, sister-in-law, Karla Moser and brother-in-law, Russell Crowner.

Visitation will be from 12 to&nbsp; 5 p.m. with the family to receive friends following a 2 p.m. Rosary Service until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug.&nbsp; 9, 2024, at&nbsp; Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. Following the Rosary, there will be a short time for family and friends to share memories of Bob. The family asks those attending the visitation to please wear a t-shirt that reminds them of Bob.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Moser will be 10:30&nbsp; Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Fr. Jake Greiner as the Celebrant.&nbsp; A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary's following the service. Burial will be in North Walker Cemetery at a later date.

David "Pete" Peterson, 93, of Burlington, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Jan. 8, 1931, in Iowa, he was the son of Leonard and Dorothy Lansford Peterson. On Nov. 7, 1953, he married Judith Croskery in Fort Madison.&nbsp;

He was a graduate of Burlington High School.

David worked as a cable splicer with the telephone company for 35 years.

He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country in the Korean War from Jan. 17, 1951 until Jan. 26, 1954.

David was an avid hunter. When he wasn't hunting, you could find him enjoying his farm or fishing for catfish. He was a talented artist and a great carpenter. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin on the river that he built himself. He was a fan of Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Peterson; two daughters, Catherine (Thomas) Rowe and Cynthia (Gary) McCloskey; one son, Kurt Peterson; seven grandchildren, Laura Rowe, Matt Rowe, Sara Mullen, Michelle Jeffries, Brad McCloskey, Kyle McCloskey, and Brittany Reynolds; 10 great-grandchildren plus two on the way; one sister, Shirley Slover; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Services for Mr. Peterson will be at a later date.

Dennis R. Laughlin, 70, of Burlington and Mississippi, died Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Oct. 31, 1953 in Burlington, and raised in Danville, Dennis was the son of Ellis Lee and Betty Jean Walker Laughlin. He graduated from Danville High School in the class of 1972. Dennis served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war. On March 4, 1995, he married Ginny Scott at the First Christian Church in Burlington.

Dennis worked in fabrication at General Electric for 37 years. He was a member of Long Creek United Methodist Church in rural Danville, Iowa. He was in the Veteran’s Twin Study for over 20 years. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He held season tickets for many years to the SCC Blackhawks basketball games.

Survivors include his wife, Ginny of Burlington; one daughter Mindy (John) Sutak of Ft. Madison; one son Levi (Brenna Norman) Patton of Cedar Falls; grandchildren Dryden Dorothy, Ronnie Christian, Kailey Sutak, Marley Grizzle, Jaxson Ellis Sutak, Lane Patton, Ellis Ray Patton (named after granddad and great granddad); siblings Larry (Diane) Laughlin of Beaufort, SC, Linda (Matt) Stanton of Russell, MN, twin brother Steve Laughlin of Burlington and a large extended family in Mississippi; mother-in-law Mary Scott Fuller; sisters-in-law Betty Pool, Becky (James) Stanton and Lucy (Johnnie) Walker; brother-in-law Tommy (Tammy) Scott and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one niece and one nephew.

The funeral service for Dennis will be 2 p.m. at Lunning Chapel on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024 with Reverend David Mixon officiating. Interment will be in Long Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army and the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard at 2 p.m. with the service following.

Michael Wayne Baker, 63, of Burlington, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born on April 30, 1961, in St. Charles, Mo., he was the son of Maurice and Hilda Fincher Baker. On Feb. 6, 1978, in Kahoka, Mo. he married Brenda Krieger-Parker. They later divorced.

Michael worked for Burlington Basket Factory for many years. He enjoyed being out with friends shooting pool and having a few cold beverages. In his free time, he loved to make dream catchers and different arts and crafts. Michael also enjoyed watching Star Trek and old westerns. Scorpions, snakes and tarantulas were a few exotic pets he loved to take care of.

He is survived by three daughters: Michelle Thompson of Kokomo, Indiana, Tabitha Baker and Barbara (Geoff) Anderson all of Burlington; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings: Morris Baker, Gary Baker, Doug Baker, Sarah Krieger and Juanita Baker. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Kenny Baker.

Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel. No services will be held at this time.

Frank N. Roffe, 77, of Burlington, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at Addington Place in Burlington. Born Oct. 26, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of Joseph and Marie Caffarelli Roffe. On Dec. 14, 1984, he married Sherry Mahaffey in Burlington.&nbsp; He received a Bachelor's Degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. &nbsp; Frank worked in corrections for 30 years, retiring as the Treatment Director for the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility. He was of catholic faith. Frank enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was an excellent pool player. He was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.&nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Sherry Roffe of Burlington; son, Joe Roffe of Burlington; step-son, Edward Hoel of Burlington; sister, Marge Linn of New Jersey and two nephews, Flavio Linn and Michael Linn both of New Jersey. Katherine Jean Metcalf, 98, of Burlington, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at her home.

Born on June 8, 1926, in Kirkwood, Ill., she was the daughter of Ray W. and Daisy Furr Holeman. On Dec. 26, 1947 in Monmouth, Ill., she married Charles Metcalf. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1995.

Katherine was a member of Oakville Community Bible Church. For many years she watched children in her home while raising her own five. She and Chuck loved to take the children camping while they were young. They continued to go camping until Chuck passed away. Katherine loved crocheting, puzzles, reading and word search puzzles. Most of all she loved to go fishing especially with her husband. She had a heart to serve others and adored spending time with her family. Her family was her pride and joy.

She is survived by her five children: Karen (Jim) Cottrell, Steve (Linda) Metcalf, Debi (Dwain) Good, Linda Metcalf and Rick (Linda) Metcalf; fifteen grandchildren; forty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Virginia Henry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers.

Visitation for Katherine will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, at Lunning Chapel, where the family will meet with friends.

H. Pauline Neff, 95, of Burlington, died on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born on Jan. 17, 1929, in Morning Sun, she was the daughter of Charley and Catherine Hewitt Jackson. On June 13, 1959, in Morning Sun, she married Wilbur Thomas Neff. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1983.

Pauline was a 1947 graduate of Morning Sun High School. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Church. Pauline was very passionate about church and serving as a Sunday School teacher, where she taught for over 50 plus years. For twelve years she worked for Morning Sun Public School District as a secretary for the superintendent. She then worked for Boy Scouts of America and retired after twenty-three years of service. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years and was nominated for Woman of the Year through the Chamber of Commerce. Pauline loved reading books, especially Grace Livingston Hill novels. She also enjoyed crocheting, hand quilting and doing seamstress work. Pauline sewed many bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses over the years. Most of all Pauline loved being with her family.

She is survived by her four children: Randy (Barbara) Neff of Mount Pleasant, Lorna (Tom) Miller, Curtis (Cindy) Neff and Bernita (Rich) Adams all of Burlington; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilbur, four sisters Mary Varvel, Betty Keith, Barbara Shelman and Charolette Parkhurst and brother Dean Jackson.

A visitation for Pauline will be held at 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at Lunning Chapel where the family will meet with friends.

Ronald Edward Laue, 81, of Burlington, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Klein Center in West Burlington with his wife and children by his side.

Born July 23, 1943, in Burlington, he was the son of Harley Fred and Rosie Louise Warth Laue. On Oct. 31, 1963, he married Janet Ann Vaughn at Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington.&nbsp;

He was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School.&nbsp;

Ron was a lifelong farmer and had worked as an x-ray tech for Murray Iron Works for around 10 years. He also drove a pace truck at 34 Raceway for 11 years.

He was a member of Farm Bureau, Trustee for Drainage District #8 in Burlington, and served on the Sperry Board of Directors for 25 years, where he served as a past president. He enjoyed guns, cars, racing and watching westerns. He loved telling jokes and was remembered for often repeating them. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Janet Ann Laue of Burlington; daughter, Lorrie (Scott) Parish of Burlington; son, Jeff (Amy) Laue of Burlington; three grandchildren, Nick (Jessi) Parish, Courtney (Kyle) Allen, Ally (Will) Watts, six great-grandchildren, Karsen, Kane and Cohen Allen, Presley, Paityn and Lane Watts, with two more on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Harrington of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Stewart.

Visitation will be from 12 to 5 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

David Timothy "Tim" Robinson, 76, formerly of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2024, in Fountain Hills, Ariz.&nbsp; Tim was the eldest son of Phyllis and Bertrand Sinker Robinson.&nbsp;Tim married Gabriel Broedel and later divorced.  

After graduating from Burlington Notre Dame High School in 1966, Tim was proud to have served in the United States Air Force from 1966-1972. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

 Survivors include his lifelong friend Beatrice "Bea" Burke, three sisters; Judy (Chip) Osbourne, Lisa (Jim) Jennison, Erin (Chris) Green, and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Tim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rick Robinson.&nbsp; 

Tim was cremated per his wishes and his cremains were entrusted to those closest to him. &nbsp;

Samuel E. Smith Jr., 61, of Burlington, Iowa, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice in West Burlington.

Born on November 28, 1962, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Samuel and Ethal Lovelock Smith. On June 25, 1983, he married Shelia D. Hill.

Sam was a jack of all trades. After a long day of work, he enjoyed coming home to an ice-cold Bud Light or Pepsi and would sit down to listen to music, he especially loved the band KISS. Occasionally he would pick up an instrument and start playing. Sam was a master griller. He would grill all year round and have all his family over for huge BBQ parties. His pride and joy was his family.

He is survived by his wife Shelia; six children: Tommy (Lexi) Hill, Chris (Ashly) Hill, April (Shawn) Lieb, Susan Smith all of Burlington, Samantha (Joe) Tisor of Morning Sun, Iowa and Lukas (Ashlee) Kemp of Burlington; twenty-seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and brother Frank (Janine) Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Kenny Smith, Joan Smith and Michael Smith.

A private burial will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

J. Maxine Hilton, 95, of LaHarpe, Ill., died Friday, July 26, 2024, at The Addington Place of Burlington.&nbsp;

Maxine was born in McDonough County to Pagie H. and Katie (Bowman) Settles on May 13, 1929. She attended high school in Good Hope and graduated from Western Illinois University with her degree in Education. Maxine taught school for 25 years in Henderson, McDonough and Hancock Counties. She married Cecil M. Hilton in Macomb on April 15, 1954.

Maxine leaves two sons, James M. Hilton of LaHarpe and Joseph G. Hilton of LaHarpe. She leaves one daughter, Stephanie M. Bougher, son in law, Justin MH Bougher, and grandsons Hayden M. Bougher and Noah M. Bougher all of Macomb. She also leaves two sisters, Joanne Arnold of Colchester and Janice Shive of Galesburg and one brother, Dale Settles of Blandinsville and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, 5 brothers- JT Settles, Fremond Settles, Leslie Settles, Howard Settles and Audrey Settes, and 5 sisters- Evelyn Bunt, Emma Welty, Wanda McRaven, Barabra Combs and Dorothy Settles.&nbsp;

Maxine loved antiques and had many collections. She was an avid gardener and was known for irises. While she may not have admitted it, she was a wonderful baker and was well known for her delicious pies. Her pride, however, was her grandsons. She loved to teach them as she did her students many years ago.&nbsp;

Maxine was a member of the Terre Haute Methodist Church and helped with the LaHarpe Methodist Church Festival of Trees for 20 years. She enjoyed belonging to the LaHarpe Chapter of P.E.O., Late Bloomers, Garden Club, Happy Helpers and especially the LaHarpe Coffee Group.&nbsp;

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024 at the LaHarpe Christian Church where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2024 at the Terre Haute Community Church with Rev. Lee Unger officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. Private family burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Macomb, Illinois.&nbsp;

Banks &amp; Beals Funeral Home of LaHarpe is assisting the family. A memorial fund has been established for the Terre Haute Community Church.&nbsp;

J. Maxine Hilton

Jim Vorwerk, 87, of Burlington, died Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Dec. 3, 1936, in Burlington, he was the son of Anthony Lawrence and Geneva Pauline Korf Vorwerk. On Dec. 27, 1957, he married Mary Helen McIntire in Burlington. She preceded him in death on April 4, 2012.

He was a graduate of Burlington High School, class of 1955.&nbsp;

Jim worked as a Supervisor for J.I. Case Company for 35 years.

He was a member of SS John &amp; Paul Catholic Church.

Jim was an award winning trap shooter. He attended several competitions and state shoots. When he was not competing in trap shooting events, Jim was known to enjoy duck hunting.

Survivors include son, Mark Allen Vorwerk of Burlington, two brothers, Paul (Marge) Vorwerk of Burlington, and Ed (Linda) Vorwerk of Burlington, four sisters, Mary Jo Lowe of Burlington, Janice Newberry of Burlington, Nancy S. (Bob) Stiengraeber of Newton, and Patricia A. McGraw of West Burlington, two grandchildren, Tricia (Perry) Boynton of Burlington, and Taryn Vorwerk of Chicago, Ill., one great-grandchild, Ari Boynton, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Timothy Vorwerk, and one brother, John Vorwerk.

Services for Jim will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established for his great-grandson Ari's education.

James "Jim" Vorwerk

John Alexander, 75, of Danville, died Sunday, July 28, 2024, at his home.

Born Feb. 1, 1949, in Burlington, he was the son of William "Bill" Ray and Betty Joan Odell Alexander. On Oct. 4, 1969, he married Lois LaVonne "Vonnie" Ash in Burlington. She died on July 15, 2011.

He was a graduate of Burlington High School.&nbsp;

John worked as a Master Electrician until his retirement. He was a proud member of the IBEW, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.&nbsp;

He was a member of Harmony Bible Church. John was also a member of the Car Club and Gold Wing Club. He took pride in his garden, especially his prized tomatoes. John always put everything into his work and could be known to be a little "extra" with the projects he worked on. He was a jack of all trades and affectionately referred to as "Mr. Wonderful". He enjoyed flying his drone, riding his motorcycles, had a vast collection of toys, and could always be found tinkering on something.&nbsp;

Survivors include two daughters, Dusty (Terry) Farren of Danville, and Julie Barton of Middletown; three grandchildren, Alexis (Trent) Hardin, Christofer (Trinity) Barton, and Taylor Barton; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Connee Stevens of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Tom Stevens.&nbsp;

A private graveside service will be held in Jaggar Cemetery at a later date.&nbsp;

Dorothy Lee “Dottie” Craig, 89, of Burlington, died July 24, 2024, at her home.

Born Sept. 26, 1934, in Yarrow, Mo., she was the daughter of George Sr. and Grace Williams. She married Carl Eugene Craig on April 11, 1953.

Dottie worked for K-Mart, Loads of Fun laundromat and more recently for Wal-Mart.

She enjoyed watching the sporting events of her favorite teams, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Dallas Cowboys and LA Lakers. Dottie absolutely loved working and meeting people along the way. She treasured her time spent with her family and her grandbabies.

She is survived by her husband Carl Craig; two sons, Steve Craig and Scott (Brandi) Craig; four grandchildren, Tim Craig, Anna Craig, Hunter Craig and Kaden Craig; one great granddaughter Malea Craig and brother George Williams Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Thomas Craig, sister Mary Osborn and brother Bob Williams.

The funeral service for Dottie will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 30 at Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.

Stephen John “Steve” Cline, 70, of West Burlington, died Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his home.

Born Sept. 28, 1953, in Clinton, he was the son of John Henry and Doris Cline. He married Nancy Selser on March 2, 1990.

Steve was a tractor mechanic for ’78 Equipment (John Deere), a welder for Mitchell Engineering, a truck driver and a farmer along with his father.

He loved antique tractors and looked forward to attending Old Threshers yearly. He loved racing and drove a late model race car for many years at West Liberty when it was Mississippi Valley Speed Club. In addition, Steve was the Crew Chief and owner of the LLM #28 driven by his wife. He was very mechanically inclined and his vehicles were always in perfect condition. Steve never missed a Women’s Iowa Hawkeyes Basketball game and loved driving a semi, mowing lawns and was an animal lover.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Cline of West Burlington; two children, Krista (Joe) Barnell of Cedar Rapids and Michael (Tiffany) Cline of Winfield; six grandchildren, Brayden, Brynlee, Masen, Kyler, Aaron, and Brandon; great grandchild, Zylen and siblings Dorilys, Jon, April, Cindy and Cecilia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings, Michael and Bessie.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.

Memorials have been established for Old Threshers and the Des Moines County Humane Society.

According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. Burial will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Stephen John "Steve" Cline

Michael Lee Crowner, 78, of Burlington, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his home.

Born Jan. 14, 1946, in Iowa City, he was the son of John Wayne and Anna Mae Crowner. He married Terri Steward on Aug. 2, 1996.

Mike worked for I.A.A.P. for 38 years. After retirement he worked for several years for Hometown Car Wash. He was a Navy veteran.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, mushroom hunting, putting together jigsaw puzzles, going to the casino and tinkering with things. Most importantly, he loved time spent with family.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Crowner; children, Sheila (Dan) Crowner, Pam (Rod) Woodall, Michael (Ann) Crowner and Micheal T. (Lisa) Haley all of Burlington and Matthew T. (Emma) Haley of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Marty Polewchek of Ohio; brothers-in-law, Gary Ball of Bettendorf and George Miller of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ron, Jim and John and three sisters, Dorothy, Carol and Linda in infancy.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites at 4:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at the Burlington Eagles #150.

A memorial has been established for the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.

According to his wishes, cremation will be accorded following the visitation, and has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. Burial will be held in Denmark Cemetery, at a later date.

The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites at 4:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at the Burlington Eagles #150.A memorial has been established for the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.According to his wishes, cremation will be accorded following the visitation, and has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel. Burial will be held in Denmark Cemetery, at a later date.

Sandra Wiley, 61, died Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

 </figure>Sandra Wiley, 61, died Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.Born March 6, 1963, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of Walter Lee Johnson and Barbara Jean Mabon. She was raised up in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Hinton Elementary and Parker High School. &nbsp;She was a loving mother, aunt, sister, and daughter and worked in health care for many years.Sandra loved puzzles, playing darts and making casino trips. She was a devoted woman to her beliefs; being a strong minded individual and practicing the beliefs and loyalty of Christianity. In her younger years, she went to church often staying for the gospels and sermons of every service. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren onto various trips and socializing with others during gatherings. Praying and reading the bible and having glass figures around her house, were ways she symbolized her love and Christ, as well as her love within miniature figurines. &nbsp;Sandra is now reunited with her mother, Barbara, father, Walter, grandmother Rose Lee Draper, brother, Charles and sisters, Delilah, Francis, Shelia, Norma Jean, nephew, Deshawn, her aunties, Nancy, Jerlidine, Juanita, Doris, Anne, Mickey and uncles Gordon, Candy and James.&nbsp;Sandra leaves behind her children, Selena and Chatina; sister, Doretha; grandchildren, Malachi, Ava, Joevonne Jr. and Delilah; her aunties, Lorraine, Shirley; uncles, Jeramiah and her step-father, Lawrence. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews as well as her friends and best friend, Neicy.Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.There will be no services at this time
