Micah Brett Taylor, 45, of Burlington, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at Southeast Iowa Regional Health Center, West Burlington. Born Nov. 25, 1976, in Miami-Dade County, Fla., he was the son of Francis “Frank” and Cynthia Gray Taylor. He married Tammy Underwood on May 15, 2021. Micah worked for Royer Body Shop. He was a believer in God. Micah was a people person and was always willing to lend a hand to help others. He was very generous with his time and talents, was very knowledgeable and strived to help rationalize situations for his kids and family. He was wise beyond his years and very humble. Survivors include his wife Tammy Taylor of Burlington; his mother Cynthia Lee of Burlington; seven children, Alex (Terry) Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Samantha (Jim) Parsano of LaHarpe, Ill., Nick (Paige) Taylor of Denver, Colo. and Heaven Stacy, Tristan Anderson, Anya Anderson, and Akasha Anderson, all of Burlington; nine grandchildren, Rhyleigh, Jace, Bastian, Jackson, Joel, Xavier, Landon, Stella and Aden and half-brother Daine Taylor of Destin, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father and two grandchildren, Carter and Eramae. The funeral service for Micah will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5 at Lunning Chapel. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. Anna Cook, 90, of Burlington, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at the Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

Born Dec. 19, 1931, in Sparta, Ill., she was the daughter of Andrew and Julia Markotay. In the early 1950's she married Donald in Sparta, Ill. He later died on Dec. 20, 1976.

She was a homemaker when her children were young, and when they were older, she spent many years as a seamstress.

She was very religious woman, who was of Catholic faith and loved God very much. She really enjoyed attending her Bible study groups. In her earlier years of marriage, she and her husband loved the outdoors and camping. She loved animals, especially dogs, and like to garden. She would keep all kinds of flowers but loved roses the most. In her later years, she really liked reading, crossword puzzles and word searches. She was a good cook, and her kids loved her signature dishes of meatloaf and pot roast.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Wills of Burlington; one son, David (Tina) Cook of Wilton; one grandson, Cody (Emily) Young of Des Moines; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Per the families wishes, there will be no visitation or services at this time.

Ruth Miller died on Monday, Dec. 6th, 2021, at home near Rogersville,
Mo., surrounded by family.&nbsp; 

She was

Ruth was a wife, mother, foster mother, and friend to many.  She retired as a manager of Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Des Moines.  Mel and Ruth spent their retirement years together in Burlington and Springfield, Mo.&nbsp;

She is survived by her children, Ben Miller, David Miller, Deb Stover, Carolyn Schultz, and Mark Miller, 15 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

Ruth was preceded in death by her
parents; brother, John Clifton; sisters, Eleanor Cambruzzi and Joyce Gearhart; and son, Larry Miller.

Ruth will be buried in the family plot in Fairview Cemetery in Earlville, Iowa.

He married Clarabelle “Clara” Nichols on March 14, 1947. She died Dec. 4, 2008. He worked for IAAP for many years until his retirement in 1991. Lee enjoyed woodworking and loved to craft things with wood. He loved his time spent with his daughters and grandchildren and in more recent years with his cat “Kitty." He is survived by his four daughters, Linda (Ralph) Kaufman of Burlington, Sheila (Rick) Long of Eldridge, Iowa, Connie (Randy) Long of Burlington and Karen (Mike) McKelvey of Pinedale, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Survivors include his parents, Tricia and Walt Warth of Morning Sun; children, Christian Villarreal of Washington, Iowa, Caylee Villarreal of Alton, Texas, and Cayden Villarreal and Oaklee Villarreal of Burlington; siblings, Macy Warth, Tyler Anderson and Israel Villarreal of Burlington and Randy Villarreal, Joey Villarreal and Aaron Villarreal of Texas; grandparents, Linda Kinnison of Muscatine and Lala and Jose Villarreal of Alton, Texas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Benny Leon Dowell, 67, of Burlington, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at his home.

Born Oct. 31, 1954, in La Harpe, Ill., he was the son of Cleo Ben and Edith M. Miller Dowell. On March 5, 1982, he married Jody Foster. They later divorced.&nbsp;

When he was young, he helped the Tree Surgeons with his father. Benny worked on motorcycles and could always be found wrenching.&nbsp;

He loved motorcycles and was a member of The Chosen Few Motorcycle Club, Burlington Chapter. He was always working on something and had a mind for inventing. He was a free spirited, party animal and you would never have a dull moment if you were with him. He was a born again Christian. He was always there for his friends and family when they needed anything and will be remembered for his heart of gold.&nbsp; Most of all Benny loved his family and friends, he will be missed by many.

Survivors include his children, Harley Dowell of Burlington, Nicole Dowell Foster of Burlington, Michael Jagerson of Burlington, Richard Foster of Williamsburg, Timothy Forester of Wisconsin, Levi Eipert of Washington State, Marcella Kieler of Cedar Rapids and Axel Kieler of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; six siblings, Theresa K. Snowden of Burlington, Roger A. Dowell of Lomax, Ill., Tanya Chewning of Kirkwood, Ill., Marsha A. Gary Allen Gronwoldt, 67, of Burlington, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Aug. 9, 1954, in Riceville, he was the son of Vern John and Betty J McBride Gronwoldt.

He worked as a chef for over 40 years, holding positions at several restaurants around Burlington in his career.

He loved to cook, garden and play pool. Most of all, he loved his family and his grandkids.

Survivors include three children, Gary Gronwoldt II, Ashley Gronwoldt and Amber Gronwoldt; three brothers, James, Virgil (Tina) and Robert Gronwoldt; and one sister, Jean (Ralph) Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Nancy Spooner.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his grandkids.

Norma “Jeanie” Pleasant, 79, of Burlington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at Wapello Specialty Care. Born April 18, 1942, in Industry, Ill. she was the daughter of Howard Arthur and Mary Adeline Parker Frakes. She married Loren Dodd; they later divorced. She then married Jerry Pleasant; they later divorced. Jeanie worked as a home health care aide for many years. She was of the Christian faith. She loved her pet rabbits, and various other critters and gardening. But most of all, she treasured being a mom and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She is survived by her three children, Loren Jay Dodd of Aurora, Colo., Lee (Shelly) Pleasant of Burlington, and Marty (Lorin Ruesch) of Prior Lake, Minn.; two grandchildren, James Pleasant and Anna Pleasant; siblings, Shirley Willeford of Burlington, Henry Frakes of Bernadotte, Ill., Beulah May Perkins of Burlington, Sandy Marquis of Rushville, Ill., Mary Lynn (Craig) Bussanmas of Garfield, Ark., and April Vaughn of Macomb, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents. According to her wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Norma "Jeanie" Pleasant

William Bauer, 86, of Burlington, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at his home.&nbsp;

Born April 26, 1935, in Rockford, Ill., he was the only child of William and Bernice M. Keohane Bauer. Bill married Joanne Dailey in 1958; they later divorced. On Nov. 27, 1981, he married Susan Porter in Burlington. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.&nbsp;

Bill graduated from Belvidere (Ill.) High School in 1953. He received his bachelor's degree from The University of Notre Dame in 1957 and his law degree from Georgetown Law School in 1960. After law school he joined the law firm of Dailey &amp; Dailey, retiring after 40 years, then known as Bauer, Schulte, Hahn &amp; Swanson. After his retirement from the law practice, he returned to school to become a chemical dependency counselor. In 2001, he joined ADDS (Alcohol Drug Dependency Services) as assistant director. He retired again in 2008. He was a faithful friend to Bill W. for 38 years.&nbsp;

Bill and Susan spent many years traveling. Their favorite place was their condo in Panama City Beach, Fla. where they spent many winters. Family was very important to Bill so in 1989, he and Susan started the Bauer Family Vacation (BFV). Every two years the whole family would meet for a week. The location started at cabins in Wisconsin and went all over including the Outer Banks, Tennessee, a houseboat in Kentucky, Panama City Beach, and Breckenridge and Steamboat in Colorado. The BFV included t-shirts, family pictures, and the Bauer Olympics. Bill and Susan were the judges for the events and often included "style" points.&nbsp;

Survivors include wife, Susan Bauer of Burlington; seven children, Anne (Kevin) King of Plano, Texas, Thomas (Lisa) Bauer of McKinny, Texas, John (Donovan Robinson) Bauer of Washington, D.C., Michael (Michelle) Bauer of Metairie, La., Elizabeth (Sean) Fleming of Lake in the Hill, Ill., Jimmy (Kelsey Lamb) Bauer of Fairfax, Iowa, and Kathleen (Josh) Schier of Burlington; twelve grandchildren, Travis (Jennifer Robinson) Howard, Annie (Jeff Phillips) Wilson, Ian (Ryan Gallagher) King, Sean (Bailey Lehew) King, Stefanie (Travis) Book, Jeremy Bauer, Emma Jane Bauer, Jack and Quinn Fleming, Haley Bauer, Elin Kay and Mazie Schier; and seven great-grandchildren, Addison Cardin, Harper, Cannon, and Piper Howard, and Ty, Tatum, and Sawyer Book.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his son, William J. Bauer.&nbsp;

 </figure>William Bauer, 86, of Burlington, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at his home.&nbsp;Born April 26, 1935, in Rockford, Ill., he was the only child of William and Bernice M. Keohane Bauer. Bill married Joanne Dailey in 1958; they later divorced. On Nov. 27, 1981, he married Susan Porter in Burlington. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.&nbsp;Bill graduated from Belvidere (Ill.) High School in 1953. He received his bachelor's degree from The University of Notre Dame in 1957 and his law degree from Georgetown Law School in 1960. After law school he joined the law firm of Dailey &amp; Dailey, retiring after 40 years, then known as Bauer, Schulte, Hahn &amp; Swanson. After his retirement from the law practice, he returned to school to become a chemical dependency counselor. In 2001, he joined ADDS (Alcohol Drug Dependency Services) as assistant director. He retired again in 2008. He was a faithful friend to Bill W. for 38 years.&nbsp;Bill and Susan spent many years traveling. Their favorite place was their condo in Panama City Beach, Fla. where they spent many winters. Family was very important to Bill so in 1989, he and Susan started the Bauer Family Vacation (BFV). Every two years the whole family would meet for a week. The location started at cabins in Wisconsin and went all over including the Outer Banks, Tennessee, a houseboat in Kentucky, Panama City Beach, and Breckenridge and Steamboat in Colorado. The BFV included t-shirts, family pictures, and the Bauer Olympics. Bill and Susan were the judges for the events and often included "style" points.&nbsp;Survivors include wife, Susan Bauer of Burlington; seven children, Anne (Kevin) King of Plano, Texas, Thomas (Lisa) Bauer of McKinny, Texas, John (Donovan Robinson) Bauer of Washington, D.C., Michael (Michelle) Bauer of Metairie, La., Elizabeth (Sean) Fleming of Lake in the Hill, Ill., Jimmy (Kelsey Lamb) Bauer of Fairfax, Iowa, and Kathleen (Josh) Schier of Burlington; twelve grandchildren, Travis (Jennifer Robinson) Howard, Annie (Jeff Phillips) Wilson, Ian (Ryan Gallagher) King, Sean (Bailey Lehew) King, Stefanie (Travis) Book, Jeremy Bauer, Emma Jane Bauer, Jack and Quinn Fleming, Haley Bauer, Elin Kay and Mazie Schier; and seven great-grandchildren, Addison Cardin, Harper, Cannon, and Piper Howard, and Ty, Tatum, and Sawyer Book.Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his son, William J. William Bauer

George “Bud” Keil of Flower Mound, Texas was called home on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022.&nbsp; He was born Aug. 9, 1942, in Quincy, Ill. to George and Margaret Keil.&nbsp; He spent his early years in the Bluff Hall Area where his German ancestors settled in the late 1800s.

Bud graduated from Quincy High School, where he played basketball and ran track.&nbsp; After graduation Bud attended Kirksville College in Kirksville, Mo. where he met his first wife, Beverly Logal.&nbsp; They were married in 1964 in Canton, Mo. and moved to California shortly after.&nbsp; They raised two sons, David and Keith Keil.&nbsp; They divorced in 1991 and remain good friends.

He moved to Texas and met Jane Skarlis Phillips from Burlington shortly after.&nbsp; They were married in 1993.

Bud worked for JCPenney in California before being transferred to their corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas.&nbsp; He retired at 55 after 30 years with the company.

Bud loved visiting with family and friends and playing with his children and grandchildren. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked.

Bud is survived by Jane, his wife of 29 years; and former wife Beverly Ruflin; son, David Keil and his partner Joanne; son, Keith Keil; stepson, Gus Phillips and his wife Joy; stepdaughter, Sophie Phillips and her partner Andy Hamilton; grandchildren, Tyler Keil, Ellen Keil, Zoe Phillips, Brock Lyman, and Abbie Lyman; his sisters, Judy Reinold and her husband Bill; sister, Mary Harre; several nieces and nephews; and his closest friend, Fred Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Raymond and Mildred Logal; mother-in-law, Frances Skarlis; brother-in-law, Farrell Harre; and his beloved dog, Bitsy.

Bud was of the Christian faith.&nbsp; He was a former member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ in Quincy, Ill.&nbsp; He was a current member of Creekwood Christian Church in Flower Mound, Texas.

Bud was loved by many and everyone that knew him has a story or two to share.

The graveside committal service for Mr. Keil will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Pastor Harold Werley officiating.&nbsp;

Linda Kay Lowe Tansey, 77, of Winona, Miss., died the evening of Jan. 17, 2022, at the home of her grandson in Winona, Miss. Linda was born March 8, 1944, in Burlington to Gerald W. and Violet N. Stouthammer Lowe. She married Michael D. Tansey on July 22, 1964. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1962. Linda worked at Benner's in the meat department after graduation. After her marriage to Mike and the birth of their only daughter, Michelle, they lived in Burlington, Monmouth and Galesburg. They returned to Burlington for a short time, then moved to Winona, Miss. in 1980 for Mike's job. In Galesburg, Linda worked for a bank. While living in Winona, Linda worked as a supervisor at Garan Incorporated. She later worked at KFC before retiring. Linda's final years were spent living with her grandson, Michael, and his family, as her health had declined. Her life revolved around caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her world, and she would do anything for them. Over the years Linda enjoyed reading, watching TV, sewing, shopping, and taking family vacations. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was a deeply devoted Christian and enjoyed being involved with her church. Linda was a friend to all and would do anything to help out her family and friends in any way she could. Survivors include her grandson, Michael Oswalt and granddaughter, Shelby Wiggins of Winona, Miss.; sisters, Barbara&nbsp;(Tim)&nbsp;Balbort&nbsp;of Burlington and Joyce (Bill) Hilbrick of Decatur, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Addison and Harley Oswalt and Destinee, Isabella, and Cordlee Wiggins of Winona, Miss. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews in Iowa and Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike, and daughter Michelle Oswalt, her brother Ronnie Lowe, and several aunts, uncles, and in-laws. Cremation was handled by Skeeter Robinson Funeral Home in Grenada, Miss. Funeral services are scheduled to be held at New Hope Church in Winona, Miss. Peggy Ruth Van Amerongen, 71, of West Burlington, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Nov. 17, 1950, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Harold D. and Helen Maxine Hudson Mendenhall. On Oct. 9, 1971, she married Robert Van Amerongen at Harmony Bible Church.&nbsp;

She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School then attended Marian College in Indiana.&nbsp;

Peggy helped her husband with his business. She was a manager at Kingsley Inn in Fort Madison before managing Sunnybrook in Mt. Pleasant. Peggy later worked for EBS, now known as World Insurance, assisting and advocating for her clients. Peggy was a very hard worker and loved to help others.&nbsp;

Survivors include her mother; husband; one son, Daniel Van Amerongen of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; one daughter, Jennie Johnson of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry Mendenhall of Corona, Calif. and Jerry Mendenhall of Murfreesboro, Tenn.&nbsp;

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. with the family to receive friends Friday, Jan. 28 at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.

The memorial service for Mrs. Van Amerongen will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Unzicker officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in Salem East Cemetery at a later date.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Gerry Walker, 64 of Burlington died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Born Nov. 11, 1957, in Burlington, he was the son of Ronald Chick and Helen Marie Anderson Walker. Gerry earned a degree in Turf Management from Danville Area Community College. He married Coeli Catherine Inghram on Dec. 29, 1981, and later divorced. They had two children, Ivy and Jordan. Gerry spent the majority of his career working in turf management and landscaping. He proudly served as superintendent at Flint Hills Golf Course for 17 years. He later went on to run his own lawn care company, Lawngevity, LLC. Survivors include his loving companion, Patty Lewis of Burlington; daughter, Ivy Savanah Boyd of Norwalk, Iowa; son, Jordan Trevor Walker of Des Moines; brother, Jim Walker of Wheaton, Ill.; and sister, Pamela Walker of New York, N.Y. The funeral service for Gerry will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Lunning Chapel. Interment will follow at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Audrey graduated from Burlington High School. She married Kenneth Wayne Tapke in Burlington on April 19, 1973. He died April 6, 2001. Audrey was the purchasing clerk for Exide Battery Co in Burlington. Her work included accounting and she paid bills. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church where she was involved in the seamsters sewing group. Survivors include stepsons Ron W. Linda Tapke of Council Avoca, Iowa, Roger K. Tapke of Ellington, Conn.; stepdaughter Dorothy Eaton of Aurora, Ill.; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. The memorial funeral service will be Friday, Jan. 28 at Oak Street Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Tony Nye officiating. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery following services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A memorial has been established for Oak Street Baptist Church.

James Arthur Marland Jr, 83, of Burlington died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at Arbor Court in Mt Pleasant. Born Nov. 11, 1938, in East Providence, R.I. he was the son of James Arthur Marland, Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Hayes Marland. James enlisted in the U.S. Army and after that enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He married Patricia Motta on Feb. 9, 2013. She preceded him in death. James was a truck driver for Bartholomew Trucking where he retired from after 20 years of service. He enjoyed talking on the CB radio. Survivors include his sons James “Jimmy” Lavoie and David Marland of Massachussetts, Mark Marland of Burlington, Daniel Marland and George William Marland of California, and John Marland of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters, Debbie Marland of Massachussetts and Mary Marland of Burlington; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to Lunning Chapel. There will be no services.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ella Mae Osborne, 86, of Burlington, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at the Azria Health Care Center in Mediapolis.

Born Nov. 11, 1935, in Springtown, Ark., she was the daughter of LeRoy and Carrie Young Adams. On Oct. 17, 1952, she married Richard Lee Osborne in Kahoka, Mo. He died Nov. 24, 2014.

Eloise Beckman, 93, of Burlington, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born Dec. 10, 1928, in Flagler, Iowa, she was the daughter of Harry and Rosa Russell. On July 30, 1949, she married Mark Joseph Beckman at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He passed away on Nov. 8, 2016, after 67 years of marriage.

Eloise was a Burlington High School graduate in 1947. She then attended Burlington Business College.

She was employed by the National Research for four years, Burlington Instrument Company for one year, Dane Morgan Architects for two years, Champion Spark Plug Company for ten years, Midwest Manufacturing Company for two years. Eloise then worked for Dr. Bernardo G. and Eliza L. Pineda for over 23 years, she retired in 1995 after the doctors retired. After a year at home, Eloise was employed through Manpower. She enjoyed working part time, at multiple businesses, when temporary help was needed.&nbsp;

Eloise was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was also a member of Hazel-Mac Dance Troupe from 1944 to 1947.

Survivors include her two nephews, Russell Warner and Larry Russell; and two nieces Sharon Eloise Warner and Mary Ruth Jereb; and special caregiver, Vicki Beckman.

Family will receive friends following a 9:30 a.m. Rosary service until 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Beckman will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Born Aug. 10, 1937, in Burlington, he was the son of Warren Oscar and Rainey Isabel Stevenson Johnson. On Dec. 8, 1955, he married Sharon Lee Dickson. She died Dec. 29, 2011, after 56 years of marriage.

He began work for the Murray Iron Works and continued working for the company throughout the many ownership changes until his retirement from Siemens.&nbsp;

Warren was a member of the First Christian Church, Empty Nesters Club and an Elder Emeritus for the church. He was also involved with the Historical Society in Burlington and a member of Class of '55.

Survivors include his son, Joel Johnson of Burlington; daughter, Kathy L. Miller of East Peoria, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wayne Johnson and Wally Johnson.&nbsp;

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, where the family will receive friends at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Due to rising concerns with Covid-19, the family kindly asks those who plan to attend the services to please wear a mask or face covering.

Bob Brueck, 85, of Burlington, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born Oct. 9, 1936, in Burlington, he was the son of Paul Peter and Agnes Mary Vogelgesang Brueck. On Oct. 6, 1956, he married Martha Ann Hertel. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1997. He later married Judith Shotwell.&nbsp;

He graduated from Burlington Catholic in 1954.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bob was a pressman for The Hawk Eye Newspaper prior to starting Brueck Construction in 1976, which he owned and operated until his retirement.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honorary Lifetime Member. Bob was a family man who inspired others to live life to the fullest and take chances. He encouraged higher education with a primary focus on the trade skills. Other interests included a love of the fine arts, sports, his Catholic faith community and the City of Burlington. He always led by example! Bob loved Notre Dame, he supported the SCC Blackhawks and the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. He sang in a barbershop quartet for over 25 years and was a Boy Scout leader. He loved bowling, dancing, waterskiing and the family cabin on the Mississippi River.&nbsp;

Bob was a visionary! He dreamed of a vital and thriving downtown. He dedicated the last 25 years of his professional life to the revitalization of downtown and played an important role in developing the Port of Burlington, the Capitol Theater, Burlington Steeple Lightscape Project and Main Street projects. He was recognized for his leadership which paved the way for our current downtown businesses and upper story revitalization. He was bestowed with many local, state and national honors.

Aaron Micah Lebeck, 31, of Burlington, passed away on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at Trinity Muscatine.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Aaron was born April 9, 1990, in Canton, Ill., the son of Deborah Lebeck.&nbsp; He was a 2008 graduate of Burlington High School.&nbsp; Aaron worked at Subway in Burlington and enjoyed video games, computers, card games with friends and loved freelance IT.&nbsp;

On August 21, 1949, Genny married Al Lunning in New London. They enjoyed 66 wonderful years together; he preceded her in death. Genny was Burlington’s first speech therapist. A dedicated 70-year member of PEO, she held every office possible. She was past president of Messiah Lutheran Church’s Women’s Council, member and leader of Messiah’s Mary/Elizabeth Circle, past president of Friends of Southeast Iowa Symphony, past president of Electa Circle of King’s Daughters &amp; Sons, a Girl Scout Leader, Gamma Phi Beta Social Sorority, and a member of Burlington Civic Music. Survivors include her six children, Scarlett of Des Moines, Marianne of Kansas City, Mo., Julie and Kate, both of Burlington, Elliott of Charlotte, N.C., and Laurie of Loch Lloyd, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Roberta Peterson. Genevieve "Genny" Lunning

Jacquelin Stewart Nelson, 70, of West Burlington, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Sept. 9, 1951, in Birmingham, Ala., she was the daughter of Walter and Pearl Stewart. On Dec. 14, 1999, she married John Nelson in Saginaw, Mich.&nbsp;

Jacquelin graduated from Tarrant High School, then continued her education at the Booker T. Washington Business College in Birmingham.

While living in Birmingham she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance and later the University of Alabama. Following that, she worked for Genesee Packing Corp and then Rotor Coater in Saginaw, Mich.&nbsp;

Jacquelin was a member of the Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; son, Shavontae "Tae" Nelson of West Burlington; three stepsons, Devarious "Dee" Nelson, Tyranious "Ty" Nelson, and Rayshan Carter; two stepdaughters, Latasha Carter and Lashonda Nelson-Sanders; and sister, Ann Eatmon.

Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Crematory.

 </figure>Jacquelin Stewart Nelson, 70, of West Burlington, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.Born Sept. 9, 1951, in Birmingham, Ala., she was the daughter of Walter and Pearl Stewart. On Dec. 14, 1999, she married John Nelson in Saginaw, Mich.&nbsp;Jacquelin graduated from Tarrant High School, then continued her education at the Booker T. Washington Business College in Birmingham.While living in Birmingham she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance and later the University of Alabama. Following that, she worked for Genesee Packing Corp and then Rotor Coater in Saginaw, Mich.&nbsp;Jacquelin was a member of the Union Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband; son, Shavontae "Tae" Nelson of West Burlington; three stepsons, Devarious "Dee" Nelson, Tyranious "Ty" Nelson, and Rayshan Carter; two stepdaughters, Latasha Carter and Lashonda Nelson-Sanders; and sister, Ann Eatmon.Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Crematory.There will be no service at this time.

Melvin Mattoon, 77, of Burlington, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at New London Nursing and Rehab.

Born Dec. 17, 1944, he was the son of Boise and Norma Wehage Mattoon. Melvin was raised by his two uncles and an aunt, Melvin, Carl and Frances Wehage.&nbsp; On Oct. 1, 1976, he married Mary Cheney.&nbsp;

Melvin worked for the American Ordinance Plant from 1968 to 1972, then Exide Battery, Burlington Basket Factory, and later Wal-Mart.&nbsp;

He was a member of Bible Missionary Church in Burlington.

Survivors include his wife; son, Daniel Mattoon of Burlington; stepson, James Whitten of Burlington; stepdaughters, Jeanette Whitten of New London and Deanna Thomason of Burlington; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty.

A celebration of life and graveside service will be held at a later date at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
